Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife

Chapter 376 - 356: Who Are You Talking About 3

Meeting Elliot Sheridan was the luckiest thing that had ever happened to her.

Her only regret was, "If I had been a little more careful back then and hadn’t fought with you, I could have given you a child!"

She was afraid of having failed to give him a child.

"Silly girl, you’re still like a child yourself. How could you take care of a baby?" After hearing her, Elliot reached out to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes, gently stroking her face.

The softer his voice, the harder Georgia Thorne cried.

Seeing the two of them so deeply in love, Joanne Donovan’s eyes turned red with jealousy. She snatched a gun from a person nearby and aimed it at Georgia Thorne.

"I’ll count to three. Don’t blame me for what happens next!" Joanne Donovan was past caring about anything. She cocked the hammer.

’Since Elliot won’t be with me anyway, life has no meaning. I have nothing now, so what does it matter if I live or die!’

Georgia Thorne glanced at the sea below. ’If I jump from here, what are my chances of survival?’

’Probably zero.’

Erin Irving, who was being restrained, cursed at Joanne Donovan from behind her. "You crazy woman! You old bastard, make this lunatic stop!"

Isaac Irving was unmoved. He wanted Elliot Sheridan to suffer a major blow, and Joanne Donovan was an excellent tool for the job.

He watched everything unfold with cold indifference, completely unaffected.

Joanne Donovan burst out laughing. "I am a madwoman, but you’re the ones who drove me mad!"

Her expression suddenly turned savage. She strode up to them, raising the gun excitedly. "Elliot Sheridan, didn’t you choose Quentin Chase? Well then, make your wife jump! How does it feel to watch your wife and your child plunge into the sea? Isn’t it thrilling?!"

"Georgia Thorne, go on and jump!"

Quentin Chase was so terrified by Joanne Donovan’s actions that her legs went weak. She felt faint, unable to move.

Joanne Donovan’s vicious gaze swept over to Quentin Chase. "Quentin Chase, don’t even think about running. After Georgia Thorne jumps, you’re next. You’ll all die together!"

"Joanne Donovan, you’re insane!" Elliot Sheridan cursed, his patience gone.

"Yes, I’m insane. And what does that make you?"

"Jump already!"

As her voice fell, Dylan Heston and Sam Yates immediately launched a counter-attack. They snatched the guns from the men behind them and were the first to open fire.

Dylan Heston and Sam Yates were highly skilled and coordinated perfectly, successfully taking down the men nearby.

The first gunshot plunged the scene into chaos as more shots rang out in quick succession.

Both sides descended into a panic. Dylan Heston gestured to Sam Yates, and they rushed toward Isaac Irving.

Seeing the chaos erupt, Isaac Irving tried to escape with his son, but as they were retreating, Dylan Heston shot him in the knee.

Pressing his advantage, he quickly charged forward and pressed the gun to Isaac Irving’s head. "If you don’t want your brains blown out, you’ll stay put!"

While it was chaotic over there, it was just as chaotic on the edge of the cliff.

Hearing the commotion, Joanne Donovan’s gun hand started to tremble.

Elliot Sheridan watched her with sharp eyes, looking for a chance to snatch the gun. In her agitation, Joanne Donovan fired, sending two shots into the ground with a BANG, BANG.

"Joanne Donovan, let go!"

"Let go? Fine! Unless you die with me!"

’She couldn’t make Georgia Thorne and Quentin Chase die, so having Elliot Sheridan die with her seemed like a good idea too.’

’At least after we go to the underworld, we can still be a ghostly couple.’

Joanne Donovan gripped the gun tightly, struggling to aim it at Elliot Sheridan.

"Elliot!" Georgia Thorne cried out in fear, rushing toward him.

Georgia Thorne’s voice distracted Elliot. He turned his head. "Don’t—"

A gunshot rang out. Quentin Chase, who had thrown herself in front of Elliot Sheridan at some point, fell backward. Elliot reached out and caught her.

"Quentin!"

Tears blurred Quentin Chase’s vision. The striking face before her grew increasingly hazy.

Quentin Chase had been shot in the abdomen. A shocking amount of red blood gushed from the wound, staining her clothes.

Joanne Donovan had never killed anyone before. In her panic, she dropped the gun and stood frozen in a flustered daze.

Sam Yates, who had rushed over, quickly tackled her and pinned her to the ground.

"Quentin, hang in there! I’ll get William to help you!" Elliot Sheridan took off his jacket and pressed it against her abdomen, shouting, "William, get over here!"

Hearing the shout, William came stumbling over. "Quentin!"

William was a doctor and immediately began administering first aid to Quentin Chase.

"She’s bleeding too much! I can’t control it! We have to get her to a hospital!"

The cars were on the other side. Sam Yates picked up Quentin Chase and ran.

Aidan Sheridan ran after them, crying, "Sis! Sis!"

But by then, Quentin Chase had already lost consciousness.

Georgia Thorne stood frozen, watching the blood covering Elliot Sheridan’s hands as tears streamed down her face. "Quentin will be okay, right?"

Elliot Sheridan reached out and hugged her. "She will be. She has to be okay."

’Quentin Chase took a bullet to save Elliot. If she dies, I’ll feel guilty for the rest of my life.’

Miles stood before them, sobbing loudly.

Georgia Thorne hugged him. "Don’t cry. Your mommy will be okay."

But in the end, Quentin Chase’s life could not be saved. The bleeding from the gunshot wound to her abdomen was uncontrollable.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but only five minutes after she was wheeled into the operating room, the light went out.

A dejected William emerged, his freshly changed white coat stained with blood. He looked at Aidan Sheridan guiltily. "I’m sorry. I did everything I could."

He had performed countless surgeries in his life, some successful, some not.

But no failure had ever left him feeling as helpless as this one.

Because the person who died on his operating table was the most important person in his life.

He had watched, powerless, as Quentin Chase slowly slipped away.

Aidan Sheridan was already in poor health. Just a moment ago, his sister had personally promised him she wouldn’t die so easily, and now they were separated by death.

Unable to bear the blow, he fainted.

William was Aidan Sheridan’s attending physician. He immediately examined Aidan and, realizing something was seriously wrong, rushed him into an operating room.

Aidan Sheridan’s kidneys had failed to the point where he needed a transplant. In truth, William had been deceiving the siblings all along.

Back when Aidan’s poor health was first discovered, Quentin Chase had gotten tested.

But he had lied to them both about the results.

He couldn’t bear to see Quentin give a kidney to Aidan, so he had deceived them with a fake report.

Surgery was imminent. William looked at the person on the other operating table. Perhaps there was one last thing he could do for Quentin Chase.

Aidan Sheridan’s surgery was all too sudden and rushed.

Georgia Thorne sat quietly on a bench in the hallway, comforting Miles. After Quentin Chase’s death, the child was the most innocent victim.

Georgia held him in her arms. For once, the boy didn’t push her away and simply lay against her chest.

The entire day had been too agonizing for such a small child.

He was so young; he didn’t understand what was happening.

He probably still thought his mother was being saved in the operating room.

The operating room light stayed on. Elliot Sheridan stood by a window, suppressing his emotions.

After dealing with Joanne Donovan and Isaac Irving, Dylan Heston and Sam Yates hurried to the hospital. "How are things?"

"Quentin Chase is dead. Aidan is still in surgery," Elliot Sheridan said softly, his gaze drifting toward Georgia Thorne.

Dylan Heston nodded in understanding and comforted him, "He’ll be okay."

’I hope so.’

Aidan’s surgery was sudden. It took over an hour longer than a typical kidney transplant.

Fortunately, the operation was a success, and Aidan Sheridan was transferred to the intensive care unit.

Sharon Ennis and James Sheridan heard the news and rushed over around seven in the evening.

After Dylan Heston recounted the events, they were all grief-stricken by Quentin Chase’s sacrifice.

That Joanne Donovan was just like her mother—a lunatic, shooting people indiscriminately.

"Mom, I’m fine." Georgia Thorne had also been one of the hostages, but she only had some superficial wounds, nothing serious.

She looked down at the child in her arms. "Mom, can you watch the boy for a bit? I’m going to go talk to him."

Up to this point, Elliot Sheridan had barely said a word.

Sharon Ennis sighed sadly. "Go on."

Elliot Sheridan was sitting alone on a nearby sofa, his elbows on his knees and his face buried in his large hands.

He still looked a mess. The blood on him had dried, turning from red to a dark black.

Georgia Thorne sat down beside him and took his fingers, realizing for the first time that his hand was even colder than hers.

First, she squeezed one of his fingers, then she wrapped her arms around him from the side, pulling him into an embrace.

"Elliot, you still have me." As she drew closer, she realized it wasn’t just his fingers that were cold—his whole body was freezing.

’Is he scared?’

Elliot Sheridan turned his head. His eyes were red-rimmed and bloodshot, as if he had been crying.

He called her name hoarsely, "Georgia."

"I’m here!"

Georgia Thorne cupped his cheeks, brought her forehead close to his, and offered a gentle smile.

’Her biggest fear was that Elliot wouldn’t talk to her.’

’Thank goodness...’

Quentin Chase’s death was a blow to them all, a profound tragedy.

’If only it were possible, she wished everyone could have lived happily.’

"Georgia, Georgia, Georgia..."

He leaned in close to her ear, repeating her name over and over, his voice filled with helplessness, sorrow, and overwhelming grief.

With her small frame, Georgia Thorne shouldered all of his sorrow.

Georgia stayed with him, sitting through the night. Whenever he called her name, she would answer.

’So, this man also had a vulnerable side that needed protecting.’

Aidan Sheridan woke up the next day. The first thing he did was demand to know where Quentin Chase was.

Elliot was silent. He felt guilty, standing before his younger brother.

’Quentin died because of him. It was all his fault.’
