Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife

Chapter 368 - 352: If You Can’t Press, Then You Carry Me

Georgia Thorne talked a lot, speaking so quickly she almost forgot to breathe.

Elliot Sheridan loved listening to her talk. Her voice was clear and crisp, utterly captivating. The way her face lit up when she talked about things she loved was a sight he adored beyond words.

The nighttime temperature was low, and Georgia Thorne was the type who easily got cold. After just a short while outside, her body couldn’t take it and grew chilled.

Elliot Sheridan wrapped his coat tightly around her and held her in his arms.

Even through the layers of clothing, he could feel the chill from her body. "Let’s go back to the room!"

"No, it’s so rare to get some fresh air." Georgia Thorne squirmed reluctantly but then let out a deep yawn.

The excitement had faded, and sleepiness washed over her, making her incredibly drowsy.

Elliot Sheridan waited for a moment. When Georgia Thorne went quiet, he looked down and found that the little one had already fallen asleep. He whispered in her ear but couldn’t wake her.

"Georgia, wake up. We should go back!"

Georgia Thorne mumbled something unintelligible, blearily opened her eyes, and stared at Elliot Sheridan for several seconds before murmuring an "Oh."

She sat up from Elliot Sheridan’s arms, stood on the bench, and clamored for him to give her a piggyback ride, proactively winding her slender arms around his neck.

"No! Let go!"

Elliot Sheridan refused and tried to pry her hands off, but Georgia Thorne only wrapped them tighter. "Why not? Do you not like me anymore?!"

"Er..." Elliot Sheridan was at a loss for words. ’Why does Georgia feel like she’s drunk right now? Her mind seems so muddled.’

"If I carry you on my back, it’ll press against the baby."

At the mention of the baby, Georgia Thorne sobered up a little and gave a silly smile. "That’s true!"

"We can’t press on the baby, so you have to carry me back!" Georgia Thorne went back to clinging to him, insisting that Elliot Sheridan carry her.

Even with the pregnancy, Georgia Thorne wasn’t heavy at all. Elliot Sheridan lifted her with ease.

As he walked from the backyard into the house, he looked down to see Georgia Thorne sleeping soundly in his arms, occasionally nuzzling her cheek against his chest. She looked incredibly well-behaved.

Georgia Thorne was sleeping soundly, only to suddenly open her eyes and call his name when he placed her on the bed.

Elliot Sheridan waited patiently for her to speak, but she just stared at him without saying anything. "What’s wrong?"

Georgia Thorne looked at him earnestly for a moment before asking, "When the baby comes, will you stop liking me?"

As she spoke, an aggrieved look washed over her face. Georgia Thorne’s hand clutched his sleeve, squeezing it tightly.

"Never. In my heart, no one can ever take your place." Elliot Sheridan leaned down and kissed Georgia Thorne’s forehead.

Georgia Thorne pouted, her eyes growing moist. "You said it. If you go back on your word, you’re a puppy."

"Mhm!"

With Elliot Sheridan’s assurance, Georgia Thorne went back to sleep, feeling completely at ease and sleeping especially soundly.

But the next morning, just as she was lost in a sweet dream, she was suddenly jolted awake by pain.

The reason was that the disobedient baby in her belly had given her a hard kick.

Georgia Thorne was woken by the pain, and tears welled up in her eyes. Elliot Sheridan, lying beside her, asked with concern, "What’s wrong?"

"The baby’s being naughty. He kicked me again!"

"Er..."

A baby kicking was a completely normal thing, but it put Elliot Sheridan in a difficult position.

He truly felt for Georgia Thorne, but it wasn’t like he could put his hand on her belly, pull a long face, and sternly warn the baby inside not to kick its mommy.

Even if he did, the child in her belly probably wouldn’t understand.

Elliot Sheridan had no choice but to ask Sharon Ennis for help. As someone with experience, Sharon Ennis said, "You were so naughty when you were little. You kicked so hard it scared me to death!"

Sharon Ennis recalled her own pregnancies. Her older son had been fine, relatively well-behaved, staying quietly in her belly without causing any trouble. But this younger son... he had kicked so much that it hurt for her to even walk around.

After he was born and as he grew up, she found that her younger son was indeed much more mischievous than her older one.

After hearing Sharon Ennis’s words, Elliot Sheridan walked over to Georgia Thorne with a frown.

He found her online, shopping for baby supplies.

Georgia Thorne sensed a tall figure standing beside her and knew it was him without turning around. "You’re just in time. Come and see which of these outfits would look better on the baby."

Georgia Thorne had been very interested in these things lately. Although it was still a long time until the baby was due, she wanted to buy every cute thing she saw and bring it all home.

Elliot Sheridan glanced over. "Why is everything for boys?"

"Huh? Is it?" Georgia Thorne clicked on the product details. "It shouldn’t be. I remember these were unisex!"

For newborns, some things are unisex.

In Elliot Sheridan’s eyes, blue things were for boys, and pink things were for girls.

Elliot Sheridan wanted a daughter, so he was worried that this mischievous one in Georgia Thorne’s belly might be a boy.

He scrolled down to some pink baby items, which he found much more pleasing to the eye.

Georgia Thorne gave him a strange look. "I think the blue ones look better. Pink is too delicate!"

"We’re getting the pink."

Georgia Thorne, "Er..."

Elliot Sheridan had a meeting scheduled with Erin Irving. Before he left, Georgia Thorne was hovering around him, clinging to his side. "Are you coming back for dinner tonight?"

He was very tall, and Georgia Thorne, holding his tie, couldn’t reach. She blinked, signaling for him to lower his head.

"I’m just going out to meet with him. I’ll be back soon," Elliot Sheridan said, cooperatively ducking his head.

Georgia Thorne gave a sullen "oh," then tied his tie for him and straightened it.

"Are you sure nothing will happen?" she asked, still worried.

’She was being a chatterbox, but her concern was genuine.’

She turned to pick up his suit jacket from the side, but he grabbed her by the elbow and spun her back around.

His large hand enveloped her small one perfectly. "I promise you, I will be back very soon."

Georgia Thorne let go of him, her heart filled with unease.

She dropped the jacket, hugged him tightly, and tilted her neck up to peck him on the corner of his mouth. "I don’t want to hear promises. I want to see you come back safe and sound."

"I will."

Elliot Sheridan took the opportunity to cup the back of her head and kiss her fiercely.

Suddenly, Georgia Thorne cried out, clutching her stomach in pain.

Elliot Sheridan helped her sit down on the bed. Georgia Thorne looked up, her expression full of grievance, and said, "The baby kicked me again!"

Elliot Sheridan’s face darkened at this. "Er..."

He was increasingly convinced that the baby in Georgia Thorne’s belly was probably a boy.

The little guy was incredibly active, constantly moving around and kicking until Georgia Thorne’s legs felt weak. Sometimes it would happen in the middle of the night, and the kicks would wake her up.

’If he’s this much of a troublemaker while still in the womb, who knows what kind of mischief he’ll get into after he’s born.’

’Please, God, don’t let it be a boy. I want a daughter.’

Erin Irving had arranged to meet at a restaurant with a decent atmosphere.

That Erin Irving wanted to see him was both within his expectations and slightly outside of them.

He hadn’t expected him to seek him out so quickly.

"Have a seat, don’t be a stranger. We’ve been classmates for so many years!" Erin Irving lazily pulled out a chair, gesturing for Elliot Sheridan to sit.

Elliot Sheridan unbuttoned his jacket and sat down. "Quite the man of the hour lately, President Irving."

"Old friend and old classmate, and you just call me ’President Irving’? Elliot, you’re being far too formal!" Erin Irving sneered.

’Formal? I wouldn’t call it that.’

"I don’t think we’re familiar enough for that."

"How could we not be? After all, we pursued the same woman. We were love rivals!" Erin Irving took a drag from his cigarette without a care. "By the way, do you know where Quentin Chase is now?"

Elliot Sheridan’s expression instantly turned cold. He glared at Erin Irving in silence.

"The atmosphere seems a little tense. How about I tell you a story first?"

Seeing Elliot Sheridan’s cold expression, the smile on Erin Irving’s face grew wider. "I assume you know who the father of Quentin Chase’s child is!"

"You know, that kid really looks like you. If I didn’t know the truth, I might have actually thought he was yours!"

"Er..." Elliot Sheridan’s fists clenched under the table. Erin Irving continued to provoke him. "I’m afraid not many people know about the child, do they? Tell me, if Quentin Chase found out the child isn’t yours, do you think she’d have a breakdown? After all, just like Joanne Donovan, she’s been in love with you for over a decade!"

"So what? Are you planning to tell her?" Elliot Sheridan asked in a low voice.

’If Quentin could find out from someone else, it might not be such a bad thing. In fact, it would be a weight off my shoulders.’

"Have me tell Quentin Chase? Wouldn’t that be letting you off too easy!"

Erin Irving was a shrewd man. Even if he was going to hell, he was determined to drag Elliot Sheridan down with him.

In Elliot Sheridan’s heart, Quentin Chase was not his priority. Or rather, she never had been.

He believed his taste was the same as Elliot Sheridan’s. Quentin Chase was, at best, strikingly pretty, but not a true beauty. She could never have truly captivated Elliot.

Besides, back when they were dating, he had never seen that kind of foolish love in Elliot’s eyes.

He had, however, seen plenty of it directed at Georgia Thorne. At the thought of her, Erin Irving’s expression grew even colder.

Elliot Sheridan toyed with the beautiful white porcelain teacup in his hand. "Did you ask me here today just to reminisce?"

"I don’t think we have anything to reminisce about!"

Between the two of them, there had mostly been rivalry and confrontation.

"’Reminisce’ is indeed not the right word for us. But I really do miss those days, when you and Quentin Chase were so lovey-dovey. It’s just a shame I didn’t meet Georgia Thorne sooner. Otherwise, she’d be mine right now!"
