Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife
Chapter 367 - 351: Honey, I Think My Leg’s Gone Numb
The shareholders Elliot Sheridan had fired were starting to panic. The stock price was rising day by day, yet there was still no news about a shareholders’ meeting.
When they called to press the matter, they were either met with excuses that the person they were looking for was out or were fobbed off with other non-answers.
Burning with anxiety and left with no other choice, they finally went to find Erin Irving.
Elliot’s dismissals had been done in secret, with no public announcement. Besides, Erin Irving had been too busy to pay attention to other people’s affairs.
Only when the men arrived at the private room and he heard those old bastards whining about their grievances did he understand what had happened.
In the world of business, once a person lost their usefulness, it didn’t matter if they lived or died. This was what it meant to be ruthlessly fickle.
Erin Irving was exactly this type of person. Tired of their nonsense, he shot up from his chair and said impatiently, "So you’re saying Elliot Sheridan fired you?"
"Yes, President Irving! You have to help us now!"
"Help? How do you expect me to help?"
"Well, President Irving, we’ve lost our jobs. We were wondering if we might find some opportunities at your company!"
"That’s right!"
’Heh.’ Erin Irving sneered. ’So they planned this together. They want to get into my company? Their ambition isn’t small, is it?’
"Then I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you. The fact that Elliot Sheridan fired you just proves you’re incompetent. And if you’re incompetent, what use do I have for any of you!" Erin Irving kicked his chair away. He was already in a foul mood, and since they had walked right into it, they couldn’t blame him for being ruthless.
The men were all dumbfounded. "President Irving, we’re the ones who helped you! How can you just abandon us?"
"Take care of you? What do you have to do with me?"
"President Irving, if you’re going to be like this, then don’t blame us for turning on you!"
"Fine. I’d love to see what you plan to do."
It was a desperate, last-ditch threat, but then they all fell silent.
Elliot Sheridan was too much for them to handle, and they couldn’t handle Erin Irving, either.
Erin Irving couldn’t be bothered with them and quickly left.
’I doubt they can pull any tricks,’ he thought.
’But as for Elliot... he actually knew everything.’
’It seems his time in prison wasn’t wasted.’
’He was crystal clear on everything he needed to know about the outside world, wasn’t he?’
His secretary called to report that the shareholders at the company were causing trouble. Hearing this, he yanked at his tie in frustration, turned the car around, and drove to another one of his apartments.
He wanted to take a shower, throw himself onto the bed, and get some sleep.
That was his plan, but fate wouldn’t give him the chance. Just as he reached his apartment door, several police officers stopped him. "Mr. Irving, I have reason to suspect you of drug smuggling. I need you to come with us to the station."
’Drug smuggling.’ These two officers must have been waiting for him for a little while.
Erin Irving went with them to the police station without protest, gave a statement, and had his testimony recorded.
After it was all done, Erin Irving looked at them casually. "Excuse me, may I leave now?"
The police couldn’t get a satisfactory answer from him. "Are you really telling me you didn’t know about all the drugs hidden in your home?"
"I don’t know!" Erin Irving glanced sideways out the window, his fingers tapping a steady rhythm on the table. "I’m sure you’re aware that my wife and I don’t live in the same apartment. I rarely go to her place. Besides, the one using drugs is my wife. She’s the one you should be questioning."
"Mrs. Irving has overdosed and is in a daze. We can’t get anything out of her."
"I’m very sorry to hear that... Oh, by the way, my lawyer is here!" Erin Irving said, glancing sideways at the man outside.
Erin Irving’s defense lawyer produced a document. "If you’re finished with your questions, may I take my client and leave?"
He placed the paper on the table. The officer glanced at it and had no choice but to let them leave for now.
Erin Irving pulled off his tie, lowered his head, and quietly fiddled with the phone in his hand, lost in thought.
His secretary spoke up. "President Irving, are you all right?"
"How are things at the company?"
"They’re still causing a ruckus. They don’t support continuing the project," the secretary reported truthfully.
"Let them raise a fuss for now. Get someone on the phone for me."
"Yes, sir!"
The secretary waited for a long time, but Erin Irving never said who he wanted to contact. It wasn’t until they arrived at the company that Erin Irving finally stated a name.
The secretary was stunned for a few seconds before replying, "Yes, sir."
The man Erin Irving had asked to meet was Elliot Sheridan, and Elliot had readily agreed.
Two sworn enemies, meeting so easily. The scene of the two of them together felt bizarre.
Georgia Thorne was a little worried. She didn’t want Elliot to meet with Erin Irving.
That night, she snuggled against Elliot’s body. "Are you really going to meet Erin Irving?"
"Can you please not go?" Georgia had a bad feeling about it. When he didn’t answer, she grew even more anxious.
She suddenly pulled away from his embrace, crawled over to his side, and turned on the wall lamp. "Do you really have to go?"
The light was dim. Elliot slowly opened his eyes, his dark pupils reflecting the yellow light, shining brightly.
Georgia knelt beside him, her pregnant belly prominent, a look of unhappiness on her face.
Elliot stared at her quietly for a moment, and then, while she was off guard, he hooked his hands behind her neck and pulled her down, close to his face.
Georgia leaned down, bracing her hands on either side of his head. The distance between them vanished, so close they could feel each other’s breath.
She was clearly used to his closeness, but caught off guard like this, the tips of her ears grew red and hot.
Her long, black hair cascaded past her ears, brushing against Elliot’s face. She was so close that all she could see were Elliot’s eyes, nose, and lips.
She shifted, and the hands behind her neck tightened. She whispered, "Hey, what are you doing!"
Being so close all of a sudden made her heart pound wildly.
"I wanted to get a good look at you," Elliot said softly, his fresh breath on Georgia’s face.
It was like a gentle breeze, but it only made her feel hotter.
They both fell silent, just looking at each other.
Finally, Georgia twisted her body and scrunched up her face. "Honey, I think my leg is falling asleep!"
Georgia wasn’t the same as before; she was one body, but two people.
What’s more, her belly was growing bigger by the day, and her body was starting to feel more cumbersome.
All the lights in the bedroom were on. Georgia leaned back comfortably against the pillows while the man in front of her massaged her leg.
Georgia lowered her gaze, her eyes fixed on the back of Elliot’s head. His dark hair was a little tousled, with strands sticking up irregularly.
Just as she was staring intently, the man in front of her suddenly looked up, meeting her gaze perfectly.
As if she’d been caught staring, her cheeks flushed hotter. She darted her eyes away and uncomfortably tugged at the bedsheet beneath her.
’Georgia, you’re so hopeless,’ she scolded herself internally. ’It was just a glance. What’s there to be so flustered about?’
’This man in front of you isn’t just your husband, he’s the father of your child!’
With that thought, Georgia met Elliot’s gaze again, and they looked at each other.
Elliot’s eyes softened, his sharp, dark gaze tinged with gentleness. He asked in a low voice, "Is your leg still numb?"
Georgia shook her head, then nodded. His pressure was just right, and the massage felt wonderful.
Georgia leaned over, took Elliot’s large hand, and stuck her tongue out at him playfully. "Let’s go for a walk downstairs!"
"Now?"
"Yeah, I can’t really sleep!"
Once she decided, she acted. Georgia quickly got off the bed, then turned back to see Elliot still sitting there, his long, straight legs bent naturally, his arms propped behind him.
Relaxed yet alluring.
’At his core, he’s a devilishly charming man, the kind who specializes in seducing innocent young girls,’ she thought.
’That’s how I fell into his trap.’
Thinking this, she walked over and pulled on Elliot’s arm. "Come on!"
Georgia didn’t have much strength and couldn’t budge Elliot’s body.
But she was pregnant now, and Elliot couldn’t bear to let her exert herself, so he obediently got up.
’To be honest, I really don’t want to go for a walk,’ he thought. ’It’s the middle of the night. She should be sleeping.’
But when he looked down and saw Georgia’s high spirits, he silently walked to the side, picked up his jacket, and draped it over her shoulders. "It’s cold outside."
Georgia didn’t refuse. She held on tightly to Elliot’s arm and pulled him toward the door.
By now, everyone else in the house was asleep. Georgia and Elliot tiptoed downstairs in the dark.
Watching Georgia’s cautious movements, Elliot had the strange feeling of being a thief.
A thief in his own home, no less.
The moonlight outside was quite nice, its silver glow lighting up the whole house. Even so, Elliot kept one hand protectively behind Georgia while holding her other hand as they went downstairs.
Once outside, Georgia took a deep breath.
As she recalled, they rarely had the chance to walk together like this. Either she was busy, or he was.
Or rather, most of the time, they preferred to be holed up in their own private room, lost in sweet intimacy.
After a short walk in the garden, Georgia’s legs grew tired, and Elliot had her sit on a bench.
The villa by the sea also had a back garden like this one. Seeing a fountain, Georgia said, "Let’s put a fountain in the garden at our other home, too. It’s so pretty!"
’It must be so cool in the summer,’ she thought.
Georgia liked to decorate her home. Elliot had always been the one to handle their house, and she wanted to do her part, too.
