Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife

Chapter 355 - 339: The Note Slipped into Her Palm (2)

  • Next Chapter

After learning about Georgia Thorne’s pregnancy, Sharon Ennis became especially attentive to her, visiting the apartment almost every day.

Sharon spread the news about the pregnancy, and it didn’t take long for even Selena Sheridan, who was abroad, to hear about it.

She made a special call. "Georgia, are you really pregnant?"

Georgia Thorne had her phone on speaker, so Sharon Ennis, sitting beside her, could hear her reply, "What, you think I’d lie to you about that?!"

"Wow, Georgia! You’re going to give me a little sister!" Selena Sheridan said with envy.

Georgia Thorne was drinking water and almost spat it all out, startled by Selena Sheridan’s words.

But after thinking about it for a moment, she realized Selena wasn’t wrong. Her child and Selena would be of the same generation.

Selena Sheridan also said on the phone that she would be back after her graduation ceremony.

"Don’t worry, I’ll bring a gift for my dear little sister when I come."

The Sheridan Family’s wish was for her to stop all her work, focus on resting at home for the pregnancy, and only return to work after giving birth.

Especially since she had miscarried once before, Sharon Ennis, as her mother-in-law, was even more focused on her health.

Georgia Thorne, however, was stubborn. She found the idea of staying home to rest all day very boring and wanted something to do.

So, only after Georgia Thorne’s assurances did Sharon Ennis agree to let her continue working, but on the condition that she move back into the family home.

Georgia Thorne agreed, and even the housekeeper from her apartment moved into the Sheridan Family home with her.

To ensure she had enough time to rest, Georgia Thorne turned down her other projects or transferred them to other people in her studio.

Currently, she only had one client left: Joanne Donovan.

Joanne Donovan’s wedding dress was already in production. A few days ago, she and Sylvie had spent a lot of energy running around town to buy all the necessary materials.

The dress was nearly finished; only some of the beadwork on top had yet to be sewn on.

A week before the wedding, the dress was finally complete.

She called Joanne Donovan, whose voice on the other end was lazy. "Fine, you can come over."

She then rattled off an address.

Ever since the confrontation at Joanne Donovan’s apartment, Sylvie had disliked her and was therefore not happy about going to see her.

Left with no choice, Georgia Thorne had to take Felix Sinclair with her instead.

Joanne Donovan was at a beauty salon for a treatment. The salon was full of women, so it wouldn’t have been appropriate for a man like Felix Sinclair to go inside. He stayed in the car with Sam Yates.

Led by a salon attendant, she was shown into a private room.

Joanne Donovan was lying face down on a sofa, getting a massage.

"Miss Donovan!" Georgia Thorne said, clearing her throat.

Joanne Donovan grunted in response. "Where’s the dress?"

Georgia Thorne took the wedding dress out of its bag. Joanne Donovan gave it a lazy glance. "Just put it over there for now."

Then her eyes fell back to her phone, clearly uninterested in the dress.

"Miss Donovan, don’t you want to try it on first?" Georgia Thorne asked with a dry laugh. "If there’s anything that doesn’t feel right, perhaps we can still make some alterations."

Hearing this, Joanne Donovan lifted her eyelids to give her a mocking look. She raised a hand, and the massage therapist stopped.

Joanne Donovan sat up, wrapping a towel around herself, and looked at Georgia Thorne arrogantly. "And what if I said I’m completely dissatisfied with the entire dress? How would you alter it for me then?"

Joanne Donovan couldn’t stand the sight of Georgia Thorne and loved to pick fights.

But Georgia Thorne wasn’t one to be pushed around. "My apologies. In that case, I can only suggest Miss Donovan find someone else."

"Heh. It would just be something else I’m dissatisfied with anyway. What difference would it make if you altered it or not?"

Georgia Thorne, "Uh..."

Georgia Thorne stood there awkwardly for a moment. "If there’s nothing else, Miss Donovan, I’ll be heading back."

"Wait. Did I say you could leave?" Joanne Donovan called out to stop her. "I haven’t tried on the dress yet!"

’Uh... Wasn’t she the one who just said she didn’t need to try it on?’

Georgia Thorne didn’t move, looking coldly at Joanne Donovan. The latter stood there arrogantly, waiting for Georgia to bring the dress over and help her put it on.

It wasn’t that Georgia Thorne missed the meaning in her eyes; she just pretended not to see it and continued to stand there quietly.

Finally, Joanne Donovan couldn’t hold back her temper. "Georgia Thorne, what are you still standing there for? Bring the dress over here!"

"Miss Donovan, if you’re going to ask me to bring the dress, I’d appreciate it if you added the word ’please.’ I am not your servant."

Joanne Donovan scoffed and folded her arms, amused. "Georgia Thorne, if it weren’t for Erin Irving, what do you think you’d be?"

At Joanne Donovan’s crude words, Georgia Thorne frowned slightly, her expression displeased.

"What, couldn’t rely on Elliot Sheridan anymore, so you went and found Erin Irving?" Joanne Donovan paced towards her, drawing close. Her venomous gaze stared sharply at Georgia Thorne’s face.

’She didn’t understand what was so great about Georgia Thorne. Her figure wasn’t as good as hers, her looks weren’t as good as hers...’

’The only thing Georgia had on her was age—she was younger. But so what?’

’These days, a simple cosmetic procedure could make anyone look like they used to.’

’And yet, this was the face that had seduced the man she loved, and now even Erin Irving was interested in her.’

A voice, seething with gritted teeth, sounded next to Georgia Thorne’s ear. "Don’t think I won’t do anything to you just because you have Erin Irving protecting you!"

Georgia Thorne turned to face Joanne Donovan directly.

Her expression was icy. "I’m sorry, Miss Donovan, what are you talking about?"

’She wouldn’t admit that Erin Irving could possibly like her. Besides, it was impossible.’

"Don’t play dumb with me!" Joanne Donovan snorted. "I don’t tolerate betrayal!"

In the end, the wedding dress was never tried on. Joanne Donovan just glanced at it as if it were a piece of trash.

Even though Georgia Thorne disliked Joanne Donovan, it didn’t mean she hadn’t been serious about making the wedding dress for her.

She treated every one of her creations with the utmost seriousness; each was her treasure. Georgia Thorne couldn’t help but feel a little upset.

When she came out of the salon, Felix Sinclair was standing by the car, waving at her.

Felix Sinclair was quite handsome—young, with refined features, the type many girls liked.

Just by standing in front of the car, he drew countless gazes.

Seeing him call out "Miss Thorne" to Georgia Thorne, they couldn’t help but let their imaginations run wild.

Georgia Thorne looked exhausted. "Let’s just go back first."

Back at the studio, she unexpectedly ran into someone she hadn’t seen in a long time.

She had just heard a surprising piece of news from Joanne Donovan, and now to see the person himself was truly startling.

Suppressing her surprise, she greeted him as calmly as usual. "Hello, President Irving."

It was true that Sylvie disliked Joanne Donovan, but she quite liked Erin Irving.

Erin Irving was their big boss, after all, and he was always so approachable with the staff. There was no reason for anyone not to like him.

Sylvie came jogging over happily. "Miss Thorne, you’re finally back!"

"President Irving said he’s taking us out to dinner tonight!"

"Is that so? Then you all should go," Georgia Thorne said. Right now, she wanted nothing more than to stay as far away from Erin Irving as possible.

"Miss Thorne, you’re not coming?" Sylvie’s face fell in disappointment at her answer. "If you don’t go, Miss Thorne, it won’t be any fun!"

"Not coming with us?" Erin Irving also walked over, his tall frame closing in on Georgia Thorne.

Georgia Thorne watched his approaching figure, wondering how much credibility there was to Joanne Donovan’s words. ’If it’s true, then I really do need to stay away from this man.’

"Let me make a phone call first."

"Okay! Go ahead, Miss Thorne. We’ll wait for you downstairs!"

As if afraid Georgia Thorne would change her mind, Sylvie quickly agreed, pulling Felix Sinclair downstairs with her in a flash.

Georgia Thorne called Sharon Ennis. "Mom, it’s me... Yeah, I won’t be home tonight. It’s not for work, it’s a get-together with colleagues. I know, I will."

After hanging up, she saw that everyone from the studio had already gone downstairs.

She turned off the lights and was walking to the top of the stairs when she was surprised to see Erin Irving standing at the bottom, smoking.

Her steps faltered. She looked at him hesitantly. Hearing her, Erin Irving looked up, his gaze meeting hers.

Georgia Thorne hadn’t had much private contact with Erin Irving, and she had never seen him smoke before.

Thinking of the baby in her belly, she subconsciously frowned, feeling a sense of dislike for Erin Irving.

She walked down the stairs. "President Irving, why are you here?"

Erin Irving turned his head. Seeing the slight displeasure on her fair face, he threw the cigarette butt to the ground and crushed it with his foot. "Waiting for you."

His flippant tone carried another meaning. Georgia Thorne’s heart tightened, but on the surface, she pretended not to understand, her voice as normal as ever. "Then let’s go."

Erin Irving had driven over in his car. Georgia Thorne walked up to Sam Yates. "No need."

With that, she got directly into her car.

Felix Sinclair also got into the same car as Georgia Thorne. Felix Sinclair didn’t particularly like Luther.

Some things were better left unseen, so he decided to just ride in Georgia Thorne’s car.

The restaurant was chosen by Erin Irving. Sam Yates drove their car, steadily following behind Erin Irving’s.

Inside the private room, Erin Irving happily ordered a few bottles of red wine.

The atmosphere in the room was pretty good. With Sylvie and Luther there, it was constantly noisy.

Sylvie pushed Georgia Thorne down into the seat next to Erin Irving. Georgia couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward and wanted to move to the side, a little farther away from him.

Just as she stood up, Erin Irving, who was beside her, had already opened the red wine. "I hear you can hold your liquor. Have a glass?"

Hearing this, Georgia Thorne reached out and covered the mouth of her glass. "Sorry, I can’t drink right now."

"Not even a little sip for me?"

He didn’t pull his hand back, the bottle hovering in mid-air. Erin Irving smiled faintly. "Just think of it as a reward from your boss."

"How could I dare refuse!" Georgia Thorne let out a dry laugh, her hand still covering her glass. "But I really can’t drink. President Irving, you should drink with the others."
