Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts
Chapter 408 - 406: Rhovan Side Quest
Faye Yardley said she’d get right on it and stood up. Willow Yardley stood in the kitchen, looking at them. "Sister, Lucy, why don’t you eat something first before doing anything else?"
"It’ll be quick." Faye Yardley bounded up the stairs, went to her workbench, entered the two production blueprints, and then started making Storage Rings.
It was indeed quick. In less than five minutes, she had five more Storage Rings in her hand. They were low-level, to be sure, and the storage space inside wasn’t even a fixed value.
She made five of them, with internal spaces ranging from one to three cubic meters.
She gave the one with the most space to Lucy White, the smallest to Rainie, who was with her brother, a random one to Willow Yardley, and set one aside to give to Franklin Yardley the next time she went back to the island.
Faye Yardley put a 2.6m³ one on her own hand.
It wasn’t the biggest, but it wasn’t small either.
The largest possible space was 3m³, anyway.
After Lucy White received it, she couldn’t hide her delight no matter how she looked at it.
She even flaunted it at Cole Kensington while sitting at the dining table.
After all, she had been quite envious when she saw he had one before.
Now, she had one too.
Cole Kensington glanced at Lucy White before saying, "Sister, I spent half my points on basic materials and had Second Sister help put them in the warehouse. I also redeemed two production workshop blueprints."
"Okay. Thanks for thinking of me when you redeemed your things." Faye Yardley took the blueprints. "Let’s eat."
The phone rang before they had even finished their meal.
When the call connected, Zachary Pierce saw they were eating and said, "Sorry to bother you during your meal. Yardley, when are you planning to go to the side Dungeon? I’ve already cleared my schedule."
"Tomorrow morning is fine."
"You just got back. Don’t you want to rest?"
Faye Yardley smiled faintly. "What’s there to rest from? I’ll be resting from now until tomorrow morning."
"Alright. Do you need to make any changes to the team roster?"
"No, the side Invitation Card is for the same squad members as last time. No changes needed."
"Okay, see you tomorrow morning then."
After hanging up, she met Lucy White’s expectant eyes. Faye Yardley pushed her head away slightly. "Cole, when you get back, get ready. We’re going to the side Dungeon together tomorrow morning."
"Sister, I want to go too!" Lucy White leaned in again, unwilling to give up.
Faye Yardley shook her head. "The team roster is fixed. It’s not that I don’t want to take you. It’s just that you weren’t here when we got this card."
Willow Yardley really felt her sister was too good-natured. She put on a stern face. "Lucy, don’t be ridiculous."
Pouting, Lucy White shoveled rice into her mouth resentfully.
After dinner, she went to the stables and took out the mutated plant fruit she had traded for from that group in the Dungeon. Bella neighed happily and lowered its head to eat.
Patting the horse’s back, Faye Yardley chuckled. "Looks like I remembered correctly. This really is what you’ve eaten before."
Bella nuzzled her affectionately with its head.
"Enjoy it. Who knows when we’ll be able to get more."
Faye Yardley patted Bella again, then went straight to the veranda. Looking out from the raft, she saw the severe cold was making the layer of ice outside thicker and thicker.
This was no time to think about fishing. It would be difficult enough just to break a hole in the ice and lure a fish to jump out.
She pulled a cup of pearl milk tea that Willow had made herself directly from her inventory. It was still hot the moment she took it out, but it cooled to lukewarm in just a moment.
She quickly finished the pearl milk tea.
Then, she took out the High Level Dragon Coiling Stick. She leaped down and performed two sets of her stick technique on the ice before stopping, standing with the stick in hand.
The wind whipped her hair about and made her clothes flap loudly.
「The next morning at 7 AM」
Faye Yardley confirmed that all her teammates were ready. She sent out the party invitation, and the five of them subsequently vanished.
They found themselves abruptly in a strange environment. The five of them looked at each other, maintaining a tacit silence.
The thick, putrid smell that usually accompanied entering a Dungeon was absent.
The air here was even better than in the mountain forest yesterday.
The five of them were now in an intact room, and there wasn’t even any dust inside. One of them peeked outside by secretly lifting a corner of the curtain.
The scene outside was unlike any place they had seen before. There were no crumbling walls, no dark bloodstains.
The streets outside were very clean, and there were people walking around. It looked like a normal city.
[Welcome, player squad, to Dungeon No. 3, Rhovan Side Quest. Everything here is different from other places. Please explore on your own. You may choose to leave the Dungeon after staying for 3 full natural days.]
"This place..."
Zachary Pierce took out a spray bottle and spritzed himself twice. Instantly, an unpleasant, zombie-like odor emanated from him.
The others didn’t hesitate, each spraying themselves once.
CLICK CLACK CLACK. The crisp sound of high heels striking the wooden floor as someone came upstairs reached the ears of the five. They instantly scattered to find hiding places.
BAM! The door was forcefully thrown open. The newcomer stood at the doorway and sniffed the air. "So annoying. Where is that stink coming from? Amy, are you rotting somewhere again?"
She then fanned the air in front of her nose in disgust before slamming the door shut with another BAM.
The woman’s rather shrill voice could still be heard from outside the door. "Amy! Amy? Where the hell did you go? Hurry up and clean the house! If you’re going to rot, don’t blame me for throwing you out."
Then came the sound of footsteps retreating.
Faye Yardley emerged from the side of the wardrobe. Her gaze fell on the bedside table, where a small notebook lay.
The others also came out from under the bed or from behind the curtains.
She quickly flipped through the notebook. The handwriting inside progressed from a crooked, childish scrawl at the beginning to neat, well-formed characters later on. The improvement was incredibly fast.
The time span covered was also very short.
[Through your investigation, you have discovered that this is a city of Evolved Zombies that is in the process of restoring order.]
Hearing the system prompt, the five of them couldn’t help but look at each other in bewilderment.
A zombie city restoring order... this was...
They entered Dungeons to kill zombies. But if the zombies had already evolved into a Zombie Clan, with their own intelligence, civilization, and order, should they still kill them?
So the system was just having them investigate, not fight and kill. They had to survive for three days in a city full of High Tier Zombies.
The mere thought of it gave Faye Yardley a headache. She would much rather just fight and kill her way through.
"So what do we do now? This place doesn’t seem suitable for a long stay," Faye Yardley said, looking at Zachary Pierce.
Zachary Pierce pointed outside. Staying indoors indefinitely was clearly not an option, but they also had to be extremely cautious if they went out.
Finn Ford said directly, "You guys wait. I’ll go out and scout ahead."
"It’s more convenient for me to go," Cole Kensington said, and with that, he vanished from the room.
Not long after, Cole Kensington flowed in through the crack under the door and whispered, "Let’s go, quickly. I found a storage room that’s safer than here. Downstairs, a tall, fat man is talking to that sharp-tongued woman from before. He said he’s coming up to check on someone named Amy in a bit."
They carefully opened the door, filed out one by one, and followed Cole Kensington toward the storage room, moving gingerly so as not to make a sound.
Caleb Colby closed the door behind them. The moment it shut, he suddenly felt like there was someone else still in the room.
