Chapter 265: Chapter 133: Alex’s Plan, Let’s Have Another Bottle of Divine Blood! (Part 2)
Saori Kido listened quietly from the side, a trace of daze flashing through her eyes. Alex’s plan was bold enough to overturn conventions, yet every step was intricately linked. If successful, it would not only solve the urgent crisis in the human realm but also buy the Sanctuary precious time to prepare for the upcoming war.
The staff in her hand trembled slightly, clearly showing that she, too, was deeply shaken by this god-slaying plan.
Saga suddenly let out a cold laugh, his tone carrying a hint of teasing.
"Alex, you are still as calculating as ever, scheming even against your own people."
"I could say the same about you," Alex responded indifferently. "The fact that you saw through the core of the plan so quickly proves that if you were the one laying out the strategy, you would have done exactly the same."
The two exchanged a knowing smile before Alex shifted the conversation.
"You two must be careful. The divine power of the Gods of Death and Sleep far exceeds that of ordinary Saints. Do not clash with them head-on; simply stalling for time is enough."
The cinnabar mark on Shaka’s forehead glowed faintly, carrying a trace of tranquility.
"You can rest assured, Alex. My time of Nirvana has not yet come; I will not perish so easily."
The two turned and walked out of the temple. Their golden Cloths gleamed coldly in the morning light, their backs as straight and steadfast as pine trees.
Saori Kido gazed at their departing figures with complex eyes. The success or failure of this battle, which wagered the very future of the Sanctuary, hinged entirely on Alex’s stratagem.
"Oh, right. The stakes of this battle are immensely high. I must ask the Goddess to bestow some divine blood."
Alex’s voice suddenly rang out, interrupting her thoughts.
"Only by fortifying the Cloths with divine blood can I be absolutely certain of killing the Gods of Death and Sleep in a single strike."
"Ah?"
Saori Kido parted her red lips slightly, her eyes filled with surprise that quickly turned into helplessness.
"Must you ask for divine blood every time you go to battle?"
Condensing divine blood consumed a massive amount of her divine power; it was not a resource that could be tapped into casually.
However, she also understood that Alex was facing actual gods this time. A Cloth empowered by divine blood was an indispensable asset.
She gritted her teeth and pulled a crystal vial from the inner folds of her robes. The vial contained a faintly glowing golden liquid—the blood of the Goddess.
"Although a Cloth reinforced by divine blood is powerful, it must be used at the crucial moment. Do not waste it."
Alex took the crystal vial, his fingertips feeling the warm power radiating from the divine blood. He naturally understood the Goddess’s underlying implication: condensing this blood placed a tremendous burden on her.
He chuckled inwardly. It seemed that even a goddess had moments of weakness. Clearly, the biological life energy women produced every month could not be converted into divine blood.
After handing over the vial, Saori Kido turned her back, refusing to look at him anymore. The hem of her dress fluttered gently in the wind, making her look like a little girl throwing a temper tantrum.
Seeing this, a faint smile curled on Alex’s lips.
"Please rest for a while, Goddess. With me here, no foul spirits or demons will be able to approach the Sanctuary."
Saori Kido did not respond, but she nodded slightly before her silhouette slowly faded into the golden light within the temple.
Meanwhile, the Sanctuary’s grand army had arrived outside Hades Castle.
This massive fortress, standing in the rift between the human realm and the Underworld, was built entirely of black stone. Twisted reliefs of the undead were carved into its walls, exuding a thick, suffocating aura of death.
For dozens of kilometers outside the fortress, it was encased by three translucent barriers. Energy surged across the surfaces of these barriers, looking like the writhing skin of a corpse, sending chills down one’s spine.
The outermost layer, the Death Forest Barrier, was permeated with a rotting miasma. Twisted, dead trees swayed within the boundary, sounding as though countless vengeful spirits were wailing in agony.
The middle layer, the Dream Barrier, shimmered with a mesmerizing, illusory purple light. The way the light refracted within it made anyone who glanced at it feel dizzy, as if they were being dragged into an eternal slumber.
The innermost layer, the Hades Barrier, radiated an absolute, oppressive pressure. Black mist flowed across its surface, rejecting all auras of life.
Without the Underworld King’s blessing, any living being who set foot here would die instantly.
