Chapter 257: Chapter 129: The hunter and the haunted (Part 2)

Sentry’s golden energy and Kakarot’s crimson-gold aura collided and compressed against each other in the air. The escaping energy particles acted like invisible blades, instantly vaporizing the walls of the shelter and exposing the thick layers of bedrock beneath.

Sentry rested a hand on Superman’s shoulder, and Superman’s body slowly took on a brilliant, radiant golden hue.

The combined energy of the three surged into the sky, piercing straight through the surface of Gotham City and reaching out into the void of space.

Superman, Sentry, and Kakarot flew into the air as one, hovering across from Alex, who stood arrayed in his God Cloth.

Sentry pulled a golden cube from his pocket. It unfolded in the air, expanding into a massive, impenetrable spatial barrier that completely locked down the entire planet.

"Hunter, let’s see where you can run this time!"

Sentry’s voice was laced with a cold, murderous intent. The corners of Alex’s mouth curled into a faint smirk; there wasn’t a single trace of fear in his eyes.

"You want a war? Then let’s give you a war!"

Four terrifying energies, each potent enough to shatter a planet, clashed violently within the sealed space. A miniature black hole formed instantly, relentlessly devouring all surrounding light and matter.

Then, an absolute, blinding radiance erupted!

The entirety of Gotham City trembled violently. The earth tore open into massive fissures as molten magma spewed forth from the depths below.

Barry Allen instinctively fled into the distant future. By the time he broke free from the Speed Force, the sight before him made his pupils shrink to pinpricks. Gotham City was gone. The entire Earth had been reduced to a desolate wasteland. The air was thick with lethal radiation, devoid of a single trace of life.

Having finished reading Barry Allen’s memories, Alex’s lips curled up slightly as a flash of realization crossed his eyes.

"Just as I thought... their target was never Bruce. It was me all along."

Inside the underground shelter, the emergency lights flickered dimly. Rust-mottled pipes snaked along the walls like grotesque, bulging veins.

Stepping over shattered chunks of concrete, Superman slowly approached Bruce, who lay collapsed on the ground. Superman had just personally broken all four of his limbs. The sickening crunch of shattering bone and Bruce’s agonizing screams still seemed to echo through the cavernous room.

A hint of relief flashed in Superman’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by an even darker, more intense sadistic streak. He gave a slight nod to the empty space beside him, speaking with casual nonchalance.

"It’s fine now. It seems it was just a false alarm. Thanks for your trouble, you two can head back for now. The upcoming scene might get a little bloody. If he were a woman, you might have stuck around, but I won’t keep you here for the show this time."

"Hmph. You are far too paranoid. Descending here even once costs us dearly!"

"Don’t bother us with such trivial matters next time!"

Two icy scoffs echoed from thin air, sounding like the sharp crack of fracturing ice.

The space surrounding Superman suddenly rippled like the surface of a pond, and two blurred silhouettes flashed within the distortion before vanishing completely.

A moment later, the shelter returned to a dead silence, leaving only the electrical hum of the emergency lights and Bruce’s ragged, heavy breathing.

Superman crouched down and pinched one of Bruce’s fingers. Against his overwhelming strength, human flesh was as fragile as wet tissue paper.

With a muffled pop, Bruce’s finger instantly burst. Blood splattered across Superman’s blue suit, blooming like red plum blossoms.

In the face of absolute power, the Anti-Superman armor was utterly useless.

Bruce’s body convulsed violently. His voice, grating through his voice modulator, sounded as though he were crawling his way out of hell itself.

"Superman... don’t celebrate just yet... One day, you’ll face the punishment you deserve."

"Punishment?"

Superman sneered, his eyes brimming with absolute arrogance.

"Who could possibly punish me? In this world, I already sit at the very apex of the food chain. In just a matter of days, I will rule the entire universe and become the new god of this reality!"

"A god? Someone like you actually thinks they’re worthy?"

An icy voice suddenly echoed out of the void.

Hearing that faintly familiar voice, Superman’s pupils constricted.

Like a wild beast stepping into a snare, he reacted instantly, his face twisting into a hideous scowl.

"Damn it! Bruce, you really did collude with the Hunter!"

He swiftly pulled a gold-rimmed black card from his suit. As the card hovered into the air, he prepared to summon Sentry and Kakarot back from the alternate dimension—but the temperature inside the shelter suddenly plummeted.

This wasn’t just ordinary cold. It was an absolute, paralyzing freeze that seemed to solidify the very air and freeze a person’s thoughts dead in their tracks!
