Sage of Humanity
Chapter 2349 - 2347: Return to Banlan
Lu Ye didn't possess Wandering Dragon's intense curiosity. Since he already had some perception, he naturally followed his heart.
He immediately changed direction and flew to the side. Although this would waste some time, it was better than rushing into that unknown dangerous territory.
This detour was a big circle, and it took half a month.
After a fortnight, Lu Ye finally bypassed this eerie region, and only then did he feel relieved.
Just as he was about to continue forward, suddenly there was movement behind him.
Lu Ye quickly turned his head to look, only to see in the distant background behind him, a point of light burst forth, disappearing slowly after quite a while.
Supreme treasure?
Lu Ye's heart tightened. The reason for this judgment was because he sensed a trace of the supreme treasure's aura from that direction.
In other words, there was indeed a supreme treasure there!
However, Lu Ye was unclear about the specific nature of the treasure, but judging from various signs earlier, this supreme treasure was extremely dangerous. The vicinity around it was completely void, evidently destroyed by the eruption of its power.
If Lu Ye had recklessly ventured into that area before, and the supreme treasure's power erupted, he would have been utterly defenseless.
Secretly relieved.
Continuing forward, Lu Ye passed through places and witnessed many strange and wondrous sights.
To be honest, this wasn't his first adventure in the Star Abyss.
The first time was when the Spectral Sedan Chair brought him into the Star Abyss.
The second was when he emerged on his own from the stellar space.
But whether it was the first or the second time, his strength was not high and his speed was slow, so even though he explored for a long time, he actually did not travel far, nor did he see much of the wonders.
But this time was different. Compared to the previous two adventures, his strength had skyrocketed, his speed incomparable to before, and now he had enough self-preservation ability and no longer needed to worry constantly about safety, giving him ample energy to observe his surroundings.
This was the true adventure.
Gradually, Lu Ye discovered one thing: that Wandering Dragon had not left!
It hovered around him, occasionally appearing, but whenever he noticed it, it would quickly flee, leaving him unsure of its intentions.
Because he wasn't lacking in Dao force and was eager to return to Banlan, along the way he generally ignored provocations unless Star Abyss living creatures deliberately instigated.
A few tresspassers had already become victims under his blade.
Half a year passed by swiftly.
On this day, Lu Ye gazed ahead, and in his vision, a colorful spectacle unfurled.
It was a miniature version of the stellar space, where each radiant point represented a star.
Finally, he returned to Banlan.
Though not his home planet, looking at this familiar landscape, Lu Ye felt a great sense of closeness.
His figure moved swiftly, soon arriving at a piece of floating land.
This floating land maintained the same speed and direction of drift as Banlan. Any obstacles along the way were swallowed by Banlan, thus it continuously followed behind.
This was Zi Ying's place for closed cultivation. When Lu Ye left, Zi Ying was cultivating here.
Mental Consciousness swept across, failing to detect Zi Ying's presence.
Is this returning to Banlan? Lu Ye wondered, having given Zi Ying the power to enter Banlan, so she could freely go through the altar. However, if she didn't choose the right position when entering, she might end up in a region controlled by the Insect and Blood Races, which wouldn't be safe, even for someone at Peak Dao Fusion like Zi Ying.
Not rushing back to Banlan, Lu Ye first visited Zi Ying's cultivation spot. During his inspection, he found a jade slip left behind.
He picked it up and investigated, then put it down, bowing in blessing towards the direction where Banlan had gone.
Zi Ying hadn't returned to Banlan; she remained at a place where Banlan had once passed.
Because for her to achieve Dao Harmony, she must continuously delve into the inner world.
As a result, every time she returns from the inner world, she doesn't appear here but at the spot where she previously disappeared, since this floating land moves continuously with Banlan.
Just like when Qi sent Lu Ye back, it wasn't directly into Banlan, but to a spot where Banlan had previously passed.
This significantly hindered Zi Ying's cultivation.
Thus, she was forced to stay at a fixed position to cultivate.
Having initially let Zi Ying stay outside, drifting with Banlan was a bit ill-considered, given everyone's unfamiliarity with the inner world.
Not knowing whether she had succeeded in Dao Harmony or not...
Thinking once again, Lu Ye suddenly felt that Zi Ying might indeed have succeeded!
Because his journey followed the Banlan's aura, he would have definitely passed by Zi Ying's place of cultivation unless she had entered the inner world, resulting in them missing each other. Otherwise, they would have noticed each other.
With this in mind, Lu Ye felt happy for Zi Ying; she finally stepped through this threshold.
Since Zi Ying had succeeded, what about Dark Butterfly, who preceded her?
Without much melancholy over parting, a cultivator's life is long, always meeting different people, and parting from those dear. Everyone is striving for a better future—this is a good thing.
Without stopping, Lu Ye flashed forward, looking at the vibrant starry sky before him. With a thought, he plunged into it.
Returning to Banlan, advancing to Dao Fusion!
This time, he was going to take a big step on his path of cultivation!
Almost immediately after Lu Ye rushed into Banlan, a semi-transparent Wandering Dragon with two big eyes suddenly appeared next to Banlan.
It was the very one that had been following Lu Ye all along.
Since the day it got frightened, it dared not approach Lu Ye again, yet it hadn't left, simply keeping its distance and following him all the way here.
The colorful display of Banlan undoubtedly made the Wandering Dragon with low spiritual intelligence extremely curious, and coupled with witnessing Lu Ye diving in, it gleefully followed suit after a brief observation.
This was its first encounter with something so dazzlingly colorful.
Lu Ye's entry point was well chosen; when he appeared, he was not far from the human race's home planet, nearby where Edgeless City had been established earlier.
As soon as he revealed himself, two powerful Mental Consciousness traces extended towards him, briefly touching to probe Lu Ye's identity, then withdrew.
Lu Ye smiled slightly, turned, and moved towards Edgeless City.
He soon saw two familiar faces within Edgeless City.
Feeling a sense of warmth.
"Veteran Chen, Veteran Ho!" Lu Ye saluted.
These two were none other than Chen Gushan and Ho Linglong, who were stationed in Edgeless City.
On that day, Lu Ye, together with Zi Ying and Dark Butterfly, and cooperating with the Yan family's previous Family Head Yan Zhixing, Chen Gushan and Ho Linglong launched a fierce attack on Edgeless City. After that battle, the Edgeless City's Dao Fusion was nearly obliterated, but Yan Zhixing was also severely wounded by Moon Howl's projection, leading to his untimely death.
Although Chen Gushan and Ho Linglong survived by a stroke of luck, the toll of that battle was immense, compounded by their old age, which left both of them greatly aged after the fight.
Originally, Ho Linglong appeared as a beautiful woman, but now she had become an old woman with snow-white hair.
They were at Peak Dao Fusion but had long lost hope of advancing to Dao Harmony, so despite significant losses, they had no complaints.
Since then, they had been stationed in Edgeless City to manage it, as many living beings still survived here, and a whole hidden domain lay within, making it necessary for someone to oversee it.
The Yan family also silently supported them, as the current Family Head Yan Yao had learned some deeply disturbing secrets from the information left by Yan Zhixing, secrets capable of shaking the entire colorful starry space.
"I told you, this youngster isn't so easy to kill!" Ho Linglong smiled warmly at Lu Ye, "And yet you worried every day; hasn't he returned now?"
Chen Gushan lightly coughed: "What's there for me to worry about, he's not my son."
Lu Ye bowed courteously: "It was an unexpected incident, causing concern to you two elders."
Ho Linglong said, "While we're at it, I want to ask, where have you been all this time? The frontlines sent word you disappeared without a trace after slaying a Dao Fusion expert, and no matter how hard we searched, we couldn't find a trace of you."
"Have you two ever heard of the Star Abyss Heir?" Lu Ye asked.
There was nothing to hide about this, and these two weren't outsiders. Even if Lu Ye told them, they would not spread it around.
"You went to compete for the Star Abyss Heir?" Chen Gushan's expression brightened, then connecting it with previous intelligence about Lu Ye's disappearance, he realized: "So that's how it is, then your disappearance was because you were... taken away?"
Hearing him say this, Lu Ye knew that these two were aware of the Star Abyss Heir.
After all, it wasn't a secret. Although Banlan was closed, over the years, many outsiders had brought in some external information.
Such a major event as the Star Abyss Heir should have reached the ears of some Dao Fusion experts within Banlan.
"Yes." Lu Ye nodded, "Caught off guard."
"Then what was the outcome?" Ho Linglong asked with interest.
She obviously didn't know, but seeing Lu Ye alive, it was bound to be related to the Star Abyss Heir.
"Let's say I took the lead position."
Chen Gushan and Ho Linglong exchanged glances, both visibly astonished.
Chen Gushan said, "I heard the selection for the Star Abyss Heir brings together the most powerful Dao Fusion experts in the entire Star Abyss, each capable of fighting across levels. For you to take the lead in such a scenario shows that you are far stronger than we were in our youth."
Ho Linglong interjected with a strange expression: "Senior brother, this youngster... he's not a Dao Fusion expert."
Chen Gushan was startled, only then remembering that Lu Ye was merely at Enter the Path stage, and his expression became increasingly impressed.
Though Lu Ye's words were understated, he could almost visualize how brutal the competition must have been.
Even if he and Ho Linglong at their peak participated in such a struggle, it would not have been a question of whether they could survive, but how long they could survive.
"In any case, it's good that nothing happened to you. By the way, is there any benefit after becoming the Star Abyss Heir?" Chen Gushan asked curiously.
"It makes the surrounding Dao force more harmonious, making cultivation easier," Lu Ye replied.
"That's all?" Chen Gushan was taken aback.
Lu Ye shrugged.
He didn't plan to tell others about the Star Abyss Treasury and the Star Abyss coins; some things were best kept to oneself.
