Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 363: Oh, You Poor Thing
"IT’S NOT WORKING!" Lucian roared.
Victoria knew he was right. The bonds alone were not enough. Her magic was not enough. They were watching Lilith die and there was nothing any of them could do to stop it.
"ELENA!" Victoria screamed again. "WHERE ARE YOU?!"
The air in the room suddenly changed.
Not temperature. Not pressure. Something else. Something that made every hair on Victoria’s body stand on end and her magic recoil instinctively.
Power.
Massive, ancient, overwhelming power that made Victoria’s own abilities feel small and insignificant by comparison.
The space in the center of the room began to shimmer.
Not tear. Not rip. Shimmer like reality itself was being carefully peeled back to reveal what lay underneath.
A portal was forming.
Not the communication portal Victoria had used to contact Elena. This was something else. A full transportation portal. The kind that could move a person from one location to another without revealing either endpoint.
The kind of magic that took extraordinary skill and power to create.
The portal stabilized...a swirling circle of silver and gold light humming with energy that made Victoria’s teeth ache.
And through it stepped Elena Markov.
She looked different than Victoria remembered from Nicholas’s description.
More powerful. More confident. More dangerous.
Elena’s dark hair fell in waves past her shoulders. Her clothes were elegant, deep green robes embroidered with symbols Victoria recognized as ancient Markov family sigils. And her eyes....
Her eyes glowed with magic so old and deep it made Victoria want to kneel.
Elena took in the scene with one sweeping glance.
Lilith convulsing on the bed. Blood seeping from her nose and ears. Three Alphas desperately pushing power through failing bonds. Victoria’s magic wrapped around Lilith’s body trying to hold her together.
And the necklace...dark and dead and useless around Lilith’s neck.
"You’re late," Elena said calmly.
The statement was so absurd, so disconnected from the absolute crisis happening in front of her that Victoria almost laughed.
"She’s DYING!" Victoria screamed instead. "The necklace failed! Her heart stopped! We can’t.."
"Step aside," Elena interrupted. Her voice was gentle but absolute. The kind of command that expected immediate obedience.
"We’re the only thing keeping her alive!" Sebastian protested.
"No," Elena corrected. "You’re prolonging her suffering. What you’re doing right now...pushing raw power through unstable bonds into a body that’s actively dying, is torture. Step aside and let me work."
Nicholas looked at Elena with something like hope and terror mixed together. "Can you save her?"
"I don’t know yet," Elena said honestly. "But I can’t assess her condition while you’re all flooding her with magic. So either trust me and move, or watch her die in the next thirty seconds. Choose."
The three Alphas looked at each other.
Then, slowly, they stepped back.
The bonds flickered as they withdrew their power. Lilith’s body convulsed harder without the magical support holding her together.
Victoria started to move toward her...
"You too," Elena said, looking directly at Victoria. "Your stabilization magic is interfering with my ability to see what’s actually happening. Let go."
"She’ll die if I let go!" Victoria protested.
"She’s dying anyway," Elena said. "Let me help her."
Victoria hesitated for only a second before pulling her magic back.
The moment Victoria’s green light withdrew, Lilith’s body went completely still.
Not peaceful. Not calm. Just still in the way that dead things are still.
"NO!" Sebastian lunged forward.
Elena raised one hand and invisible force stopped him mid-step. "Don’t. Move."
She crossed to the bed and placed both hands on Lilith’s chest, directly over her heart where the curse was strongest.
For three full seconds, nothing happened.
Elena stood perfectly still with her eyes closed and her magic so tightly controlled Victoria could barely feel it.
Then Elena’s eyes snapped open.
They were glowing pure white.
"Oh," Elena breathed. "Oh, you poor thing."
Light exploded from her palms, not silver like the Guardians, not green like Victoria, not gold or bronze like the Alphas.
Pure white light that burned like the sun itself.
The light poured into Lilith’s body and wrapped around the curse like chains. Not destroying it. Not fighting it. Just containing it. Holding it still. Giving Lilith’s body a chance to remember how to function without being actively consumed.
Victoria watched in awe as Elena worked.
This was not healing magic. Not exactly. This was something more fundamental. Life magic. The kind of power that could reach into the space between living and dying and pull someone back from the edge.
The curse fought against Elena’s containment. Dark energy lashed out trying to break free.
Elena didn’t flinch.
She just poured more light into Lilith until the curse had nowhere to go except exactly where Elena wanted it.
Thirty seconds passed.
A minute.
Two.
The light began to fade.
Elena slowly withdrew her hands and stepped back, breathing hard like she had just run a marathon.
Lilith lay motionless on the bed.
For one terrible moment, Victoria thought they had lost her anyway.
Then Lilith gasped.
One sharp, desperate inhale, like someone who had been drowning finally breaking the surface.
Her eyes flew open.
Wild. Disoriented. Glowing faintly with residual magic.
She looked around the room without seeing anything. Her mouth moved like she was trying to speak but no sound came out.
Then her eyes rolled back and she collapsed against the pillows, unconscious again.
But breathing.
Steadily. Strongly. The color already returning to her face.
"Is she..." Nicholas started.
"Alive," Elena confirmed. "Stable. The curse is contained for now but not broken. She’ll sleep for a few hours while her body recovers from what you all just put it through. When she wakes up, she’ll be weak but conscious."
Victoria felt her knees give out.
She sat down hard on the floor and pressed her hands to her face, trying desperately not to sob.
Lilith was alive.
Elena had saved her.
"Thank you," Victoria whispered. "Thank you thank you thank you...."
"Don’t thank me yet," Elena interrupted. "I stabilized her. I gave you time. But Victoria..." She looked at the older witch with sympathy. "I didn’t cure her. The curse is still there. Still growing. Still trying to kill her. All I did was put it in a cage for a little while. Eventually it will break free and we’ll be right back where we started."
