Royal Secret: I'm A Princess!

Chapter 1017: BIRTH

Chapter 1017: BIRTH

"COMMANDER Solfrid, please help my wife and our baby."

That was the first thing that Glenn asked after he heard from Royal Mage Abigail Barlowe about his wife’s condition.

His queen’s life was in danger.

After all, she was having difficulties in giving birth to their daughter.

"That’s exactly why I’m here, Your Majesty," Commander Solfrid said calmly, and then he turned to the Royal Mage. "Lady Barlowe, can you ask everyone in the room to leave?"

Abigal Barlowe just bowed her head and headed back in the room in a hurry.

Glenn calmed down a bit.

But he still had many questions.

However, he knew that they didn’t have time for that.

Hence, he only dropped one question.

"Commander Solfrid, I’m grateful that you’re here to help my wife give birth to our child. And I can tell that my child is special," Glenn said in a serious and careful tone. "But may I know how my child will be of help to Princess Neoma?"

Yes, that was the conclusion he came up with.

Just like Emperor Nero, Commander Solfrid wouldn’t move unless it’s for Princess Neoma.

"A monster capable of destroying half of the world will wake up soon," Commander Ruto Solfrid said, and then he turned to Glenn with glowing eyes. "Your child is one of the only two people in this world capable of taming that monster, Your Majesty."

After hearing that, Glenn could tell that he went pale.

That was a heavy responsibility for someone who hadn’t been born yet.

My poor baby...

"Your Majesty, can I start now?" Commander Ruto Solfrid asked. "We don’t have enough time left."

Glenn snapped out of his thoughts, and then he nodded. "Commander, please make sure that my wife and my daughter will be both safe."

"Yes, I know. Neoma will not forgive me if something bad happens to either the queen and your daughter."

Whew.

Glenn was relieved to hear that.

After all, Commander Ruto Solfrid won’t do anything that Princess Neoma won’t like.

With a slightly lighter heart, Glenn entered the birthing room with the commander...

... and he almost passed out at the sight that greeted him.

His wife, Brigitte, was barely breathing while on the bed.

And there was blood everywhere.

"My queen!"

Glenn immediately got down on his knees and held his wife’s hand.

He almost cried when he noticed that Brigitte’s hand was slightly cold.

"Hang in there, my queen..."

And then he trailed off when he saw Commander Ruto Solfrid unseathe his sword.

Glenn blinked, confused and scared. "C-Commander, are you going to use that sword to cut my wife’s stomach open?"

"Don’t worry, this Holy Sword won’t harm your wife and child," Commander Ruto Solfrid assured Glenn, but he wasn’t assured at all. "Your Majesty, just close your eyes or leave the room if you can’t watch."

WHAT a pitiful existence.

"When this Aether started polluting the air in the Upper World, the gods replanted it here in the Cosmic Garden," Neoma said, looking up. The sky above her seemed endless, hence not even the top of the Aether was visible. "Only the top of this Aether reaches the Upper World. Hence, the corrupted air that this Aether is releasing only affects everything below it. In short, the gods only saved themselves."

"What can I say? I’m disappointed, but not surprised," Trevor said, laughing quite bitterly. "Selfish bastards. No wonder you’re angry."

"Well, getting angry is useless now since this world is already dead."

"So, what are you going to do to that Aether?"

"I’m going to eat it, too."

Trevor knitted his eyebrows. "Excuse me?"

"I’m going to eat the polluted air and this Aether," Neoma said bluntly. "If I eat everything, I can carry them over to the other world."

"And how do you plan to eat the polluted air here, Moon Princess?"

How, indeed.

It wouldn’t be Neoma’s first time to eat something that she shouldn’t be eating.

And, to be honest, she should have learnt her lesson by now.

But there are things that only I can do.

Yes, that was her superiority complex talking.

"I use to just open my mouth and digest things that way," Neoma said, shrugging while looking around. "But I have a feeling that it won’t work this time."

"It shouldn’t have worked the first time, my Moon Princess," Trevor said as if he was horrified by everything he had heard from Neoma so far. "For a princess, you sure are not picky with your "food.""

"I’m a de Moonasterio, dude. Have you seen a de Moonasterion princess treated well by the empire?"

"Oh, right. That’s right— the de Moonasterion princesses have always been treated badly by—"

"Shh."

Neoma shushed Trevor not just because he was yapping too much, but because she thought she heard a sound.

There was no living thing left there except for the two of them.

And, yet, her ears picked up what seemed like a weak voice.

"Hold me."

Oh.

There was another being there, alright.

Neoma looked up at the Aether tree, the only living thing in that place aside from her and Trevor. "Say it again."

"Hold me— I’ll give you everything left in me, de Moonasterion Princess."

Ah.

I woke her up.

***

GLENN saw it.

He saw when Commander Ruto Solfrid used his sword to cut Brigitte’s stomach open without an ounce of emotion on his face.

To be honest, he was tempted to pick a fight with the young commander.

I know that he’s helping us, but his method is too extreme.

However, all of Glenn’s complaint disappeared when he heard it— his daughter’s first cry.

Aww.

The little angel, now wrapped in a white and warm cloth, was in Commander Ruto Solfrid’s arms.

For some reason, the young commander was looking at his child intently.

Like he were talking to a newly born baby.

"My queen, you did it," Glenn said, smiling at Brigitte who was barely awake. "You gave birth to a healthy baby girl."

Brigitte only smiled weakly, and then his wife lost consciousness.

"My queen!" Glenn said, getting up while looking at the door. "Lady Barlowe, my wife needs help!"
