Chapter 1016: HUGE APPETITE
Chapter 1016: HUGE APPETITE
GLENN was feeling anxious.
Of course, it was normal to feel that way because his wife was about to give birth to their baby angel.
When Brigitte saw how nervous he was earlier, his wife asked the room to be soundproof.
Hence, even though Glenn didn’t want to, he had no choice but to follow his queen and put soundproof charms all over the room.
He thought he would be calm, not hearing his wife’s cries while delivering their child.
But someone unexpected showed up.
"Commander Solfrid," Glenn called the attention of their very special guest. "To what do we owe this visit?"
Commander Ruto Solfrid just stood there, observing Glenn in silence.
His silence is making me feel more nervous...
Glenn, the former Vice Commander of the White Lion Knights and one of the previous emperor’s Paladins, was not someone who would get easily intimidated.
There was even a time he was called the ’Mad Dog’ of the battlefield.
Hence, it was embarrassing that he was feeling intimidated by a younger man who was just standing there.
But he couldn’t help it.
As expected of the man Princess Neoma chose— Commander Solfrid is as scary as she is.
"Your Majesty."
Glenn flinched.
Even though Commander Ruto Solfrid talked to him politely and addressed him by his title as a king, he still couldn’t help but feel like he was beneath the young commander.
"I think I would need to cut Her Majesty’s stomach open."
Okay, hearing those words made Glenn forget why he was intimidated by Commander Ruto Solfrid earlier.
His protectiveness of his wife came through.
"Commander Solfrid, I’m sorry to say this, but you’ll need to give me a longer and more detailed explanation," Glenn said in a serious tone. "Why would you need to cut my wife’s stomach open when she’s in the middle of delivering our child..."
Oh.
He trailed off because he realized what the young commander meant by what he said.
That didn’t make the situation any better, of course.
Especially when the doors burst open.
Then Abigail Barlowe, the Royal Mage, got out of the room— with a splatter of blood from head to toe.
Yes, it was the Royal Mage herself.
Emperor Nero sent her when His Imperial Majesty found out that my wife is about to give birth, and my wife’s condition isn’t that good.
Seeing the Royal Mage in that state almost made Glenn collapse from panic.
"Lady Barlowe, what happened?" Glenn asked in a nervous and shaking tone. "How about my wife and our child?"
"The child isn’t coming out, Your Majesty," Abigail Barlowe said in a slightly panicked voice. "No— the child doesn’t want to come out the normal way. The child is clawing her way out of Her Majesty’s stomach."
Glenn was too stunned that he didn’t know how to react.
"We tried to cut open Her Majesty’s stomach with her permission," Abigail Barlowe said, her voice filled with urgency. "But no tool in the room could pierce Her Majesty’s skin."
"Then that blood..."
"Oh, this is my blood," the Royal Mage explained. "When I tried to cut Her Majesty’s skin, a force coming from her attacked me. Before I knew it, I was already full of cuts all over my body."
Glenn knitted his eyebrows. "But my wife doesn’t have Mana..."
"It’s the child, Your Majesty," Abigail Barlowe said. "Your unborn child has a terrifying power, sire."
Oh.
Now I understand why Commander Solfrid is here.
Glenn immediately turned to the commander. "Commander Solfrid, please help my wife and our baby."
"That’s exactly why I’m here, Your Majesty," Commander Solfrid said calmly, and then he turned to the Royal Mage. "Lady Barlowe, can you ask everyone in the room to leave?"
Abigail Barlowe just bowed her head and headed back into the room in a hurry.
Glenn calmed down a bit.
But he still had many questions.
However, he knew that they didn’t have time for that.
Hence, he only dropped one question.
"Commander Solfrid, I’m grateful that you’re here to help my wife give birth to our child. And I can tell that my child is special," Glenn said in a serious and careful tone. "But may I know how my child will be of help to Princess Neoma?"
Yes, that was the conclusion he came up with.
Just like Emperor Nero, Commander Solfrid wouldn’t move unless it was for Princess Neoma.
"A monster capable of destroying half of the world will wake up soon," Commander Ruto Solfrid said, and then he turned to Glenn with glowing eyes. "Your child is one of the only two people in this world capable of taming that monster, Your Majesty."

YES, the Aether of the previous world was in the Cosmic Garden.
It used to be planted in the main residence of the gods in the Upper World.
However, after the Aether started releasing corrupted air, the gods decided to throw it away and plant it in the Cosmic Garden.
But that didn’t mean the gods were done with it already.
"Why is this place polluted when there’s an Aether here?" Trevor wondered out loud. "The Aether is supposed to purify the air that gods breathe."
Right?
Neoma placed her hand on the body of the Aether, a huge tree.
Huge, tall, but dead.
How pitiful.
"When this Aether started polluting the air in the Upper World, the gods replanted it here in the Cosmic Garden," Neoma said, looking up. The sky above her seemed endless, hence not even the top of the Aether was visible. "Only the top of this Aether reaches the Upper World. Hence, the corrupted air that this Aether is releasing only affects everything below it. In short, the gods only saved themselves."
"What can I say? I’m disappointed, but not surprised," Trevor said, laughing quite bitterly. "Selfish bastards. No wonder you’re angry."
"Well, getting angry is useless now since this world is already dead."
"So, what are you going to do to that Aether?"
"I’m going to eat it, too."
Trevor knitted his eyebrows. "Excuse me?"
"I’m going to eat the polluted air and this Aether," Neoma said bluntly. "If I eat everything, I can carry them over to the other world."
