Rotting Land: Survive
Chapter 1120: Operation Rescue Old Xu Begins (6)
The writing cabinet is nearly 2 meters tall, making it difficult for ordinary Pacers to reach.
And to add trouble for the touchers, Hu Xiaodong specifically stuffed some miscellaneous items like folders on top.
“Alright, Quan Zi, let’s go!” Jumping off the chair, Hu Xiaodong waved to Tang Xiaoquan, signaling to leave.
But after surveying all around, Tang Xiaoquan stopped Hu Xiaodong’s actions.
“What’s up?” Seeing the young man not moving, Hu Xiaodong, who had already reached the door, paused his steps.
“Do we need to set up some more obstacles for the Zombies?” Tang Xiaoquan pointed to the tables and chairs in the office, implying his intention.
“Okay!” Crisp and direct, Hu Xiaodong agreed without much thought.
With the full set of tables and chairs inside, it’s most convenient to set obstacles.
Immediately, Tang and Hu started the obstacle-setting work.
They even specially put some into the hallway, to add some fun for the upcoming Zombies to “play.”
“Humph, this will surely be enough for those **** bastards to handle.” Wei Dazhuang spat on the ground.
“Alright, let’s continue upwards!” Time is life, wandering outside is uneasy in the end, Hu Xiaodong secured the Compound Bow on himself, knowing that the upcoming journey will likely be more of alley fights.
Retracing their steps, they exited the 6th-floor safe passage, and the Survivors once again used the ropes they carried to firmly bind the door to the safe passage.
They weren’t worried about Zombies not being able to enter; the small door was nothing against the Zombies’ immense destructive power.
But the reason for binding it with ropes was simply to slightly slow down the beast’s speed.
6th floor finished, up to the 7th floor.
Just like the beginning of the 6th floor, the noisy door hinge immediately caught the Zombies’ attention.
And within the Survivor Squad, they calmly fought by dividing into two sides as per previous tactics.
Everything proceeded smoothly as planned, the building seemed big, but not many employees were inside due to the weekend when the outbreak happened, greatly reducing the Survivor Squad’s workload and somewhat easing their survival pressure.
Zombies kept falling, and the Survivors’ checking efficiency quickened.
But the unexpected happened, just when the Survivor Squad members thought this floor would also be safe like the sixth.
Hu Xiaodong finished dealing with a room and was ready to head to the adjacent one with Tang Xiaoquan to continue cleaning.
But unexpectedly, just as he took a step, he quickly pulled back.
Retreating, he accidentally bumped into Tang Xiaoquan who staggered back two steps, fortunately, there was a desk behind, saving him from the risk of falling.
“What’s wrong, Hu…”
“Bro,” the word hadn’t yet come out when Hu Xiaodong forcibly blocked Tang Xiaoquan’s mouth.
Seeing the opponent acting like facing a major enemy, Tang Xiaoquan immediately understood something was amiss.
With wide eyes, Tang Xiaoquan nodded towards the door, Hu Xiaodong got it and nodded, then lowered his voice to say three words, “Climber!”
“Buzz~” Upon hearing this, Tang Xiaoquan felt a sudden headache.
That’s exactly what he was afraid would happen.
To know, along the way, his biggest worry was encountering “Climbers” and “Jumpers.”
Because compared to “Pacers” and “Runners,” Climbers and Jumpers are more agile and more accustomed to controlling their bodies.
More importantly, the passageways within the building are narrow, and rooms line both sides, which make it very convenient for Climbers and Jumpers to attack and evade, making them extremely difficult to kill.
And just as Tang Xiaoquan and Hu Xiaodong were troubled about how to deal with the Climber outside, a “crack” sounded in the passageway.
Damn it!
There’s no doubt it must be that Wei Dazhuang encountered a Climber.
Indeed, almost at the same time Hu Xiaodong had this thought, Wei Dazhuang called in a low voice, “Xiao Hu, Quan Zi, there’s a Climber outside, don’t come out!”
Hearing Wei Dazhuang’s low shout, they initially thought of utilizing the advantage of their unnoticed presence to launch a sneak attack on the beast.
Now, it was clearly in vain.
Wei Dazhuang indeed encountered a Climber, and after ripping through all obstacles along the way, it’s easy to form a subjective mindset.
At least in Wei Dazhuang’s view, this building only has easy-to-kill Pacers, so after clearing a room, he had no alertness stepping out to head to the next room for his task.
But who would have thought such relaxation nearly cost Wei Dazhuang his life.
Fortunately, the half-year of survival experience in the apocalypse significantly enhanced Wei Dazhuang’s reflexes.
At the instant he sensed imminent threat, he sharply dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the Climber’s assault.
The beast slammed into the ground like a shooting stone, Wei Dazhuang could clearly feel the Climber’s fierce thunderous strike.
Luckily, he dodged quickly enough, otherwise, the impact would have been devastating even if not directly wounded by the Zombie.
Nevertheless, Wei Dazhuang ultimately escaped this catastrophe.
Gazing at the mutated Zombie panting on the ground, Wei Dazhuang immediately frowned.
“****, taste the blade!”
Coming to his senses, Wei Dazhuang hesitated not at all, lifting his knives and furiously chopped downwards at the beast’s body.
But the Climber was equally quick to respond, its hit landed, and it immediately rose to climb towards the ceiling.
“Clang!” The blade struck the marble floor with a sharp echo, and a long crack appeared.
The Climber escaped, or rather, adjusted its position for a new round of assault.
“Da-da-da!” Crawling swiftly along the ceiling, the Climber moved very fast.
Seeing the beast lazily climb the walls, Wei Dazhuang was infuriated, his head ablaze with rage.
His desire to kill the beast was indisputable, but with it up on the ceiling, Wei Dazhuang felt utterly helpless.
However, even if Wei Dazhuang couldn’t hunt the Climber, the Climber had its means to attack him.
Once the beast turned around and adjusted, it immediately crouched to gather strength, then leaped down.
“Dazhuang! Get out of the way!”
“Whoosh!” The arrow flew out following Hu Xiaodong’s shout, and Wei Dazhuang dodged upon hearing it. The familiarity gained from repeated practice allowed Hu Xiaodong’s full-drawn arrow to perfectly bypass Wei Dazhuang and shoot rapidly towards the Climber.
“Pff!” The arrow hit the body, slightly slowing the Climber’s attacking momentum.
And it’s just this seemingly insignificant delay that spared Wei Dazhuang from a deadly hit.
“Get back inside! Dazhuang, return inside!”
Hu Xiaodong signaled Wei Dazhuang to return indoors, but Wei Dazhuang showed no intention of retreating.
His reason was simple, these beasts were his bitter enemies who killed his wife and child.
He cannot retreat! He has no reason to retreat! The pain of losing loved ones erased Wei Dazhuang’s fear entirely, and for him, the only task at hand was:
Slay the **** in front of him!
