Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player

Chapter 213 Blood Thirst

Everyone in the throne room was paralyzed by the aura that Kaizen emanated.  Everyone could feel the Psyker’s power and presence, and it left them completely immobilized, unable to move or speak as if there was a great weight on their backs pressing down on their lungs.

At that moment, Kaizen heard a message from the system resonate in his mind.

[The effects of the title ‘Talented’ merged with the profession ‘Apprentice Blacksmith’ revealed hidden effects of the Item ‘Eye of Storm].

[In addition to each applied damage increasing the percentage chance to receive Blood Thirst, each damage the user receives is also converted into percentages for Blood Thirst to be applied.].

[Your current Blood Thirst level is: 40%.]

The Storm Eye Sword was, without a doubt, a great weapon. Fast and Powerful. However, since this sword was forged with one of the eyes of the Aura Manipulator, Lysam Smedley, there was a severe price to use its power.

Kaizen didn’t even mind the system’s warnings, for to him they were nothing more than annoying buzzing in his ears. He was much more excited about what was before him.

Ten against one. To him, this was exciting like few things in the world. Not even in Myth2 did he have the opportunity to experience something like this, considering that this MOBA was five versus five.

Everyone in the Desert Lions Guild looked at Kaizen with wide eyes. They knew they had the numerical advantage and with the guild gathered like this they felt they could fight even a Mythic Rank creature. Still, they were hesitating.

Their leader was the one who made the first move, not literally but by activating a skill coming from his title Commander. That skill was called <Leadership Order>.

When Taznaar activated this skill, horns echoed throughout the hall, he raised his left fist upwards and roared:

“There is no reason to fear him if we work together! If he wants to make a bloodbath, then we will stop him! Not only because we are in the Queen’s presence, but also for the sake of the entire Tretidian Kingdom! Kaizen is a monster that must be stopped and we will put an end to all of this now!”

“That’s it, Chief!”

“LET’S GO! WITHOUT FEAR!”

“He is one and we have the strength of a hundred people when we are united!”

“It’s time to end it once and for all!”

The shouts echoed throughout the hall, and all the members of the Desert Lions Guild were preparing for combat.

Kaizen, for his part, was not intimidated by the whole scene, but rather smiled with an air of satisfaction. It was pleasing to him to see so many strong enemies being so careful to fight only with him. It filled him with pride and reminded him of how powerful he was.

He raised the Storm Eye Sword above his head and the mystical energy around him increased even more.

“You people have no idea what you are doing…. You have no idea who I am! I am someone none of you would dare have the courage to face me alone!”

Kaizen roared, and his cry was like the sound of thunder, and his aura increased even more, enveloping everyone in the hall. The Blood Eye sword matched his enthusiasm.

“You will pay dearly for challenging me!”

Just then, Kaizen charged toward the ten players.

The ranged combat team immediately took advantage of the fact that Kaizen was running in the open space to try to hit him. Lara, the shooter, raised her slingshot, pulled back the rubber band just like the string of a bow, and fired a metal ball.

Kaizen, however, was much faster than she expected. Psyker deflected the arrow with a graceful and swift movement.

Next, it was the turn of two mages to try to stop the enemy’s advance. One of them created dozens of stone arrows in the fingertips of his hand and fired. The other closed a fist and, after concentrating a lot of mana inside this fist, then opened it, shooting dozens of beams of bluish light.

Usually, this combination of powers could tear to shreds even powerful armor like the ones the members of the Desert Lions Guild used to disguise themselves in the throne room. Kaizen had no chance against this, or so they thought.

As the sole holder of the Psych Class, Kaizen had powers that were foreign to even the most experienced players of Rise Online. He switched his sword from his left hand to his right and stretched his left hand forward, right after he did this the stone arrows came at him, only they weren’t even able to touch him because they simply turned to dust before that.

Most of the players didn’t understand what happened in that first instant, only Taznaar noticed as he had experienced this power first hand during their fight in the Arena.

Everything became clearer to the other players when the second mage’s mana magic was also unable to hurt Kaizen. The glow of the mana revealed to everyone that there was an invisible barrier in front of Kaizen and that nothing they threw was able to stop him.

Taznaar acted quickly and just as a commander would, he ordered:

“Tanks ahead!”

The members of the Desert Lions Guild separated into two groups. The first group consisted of two players who equipped two large shields that were in their inventories.

One of these players was a woman with a blunt feature who was very large even compared to Kaizen. The other was a man of normal size and generic squire appearance: short hair and a broad chin. They were called Kalma and Jarnus, respectively.

The two Tanks stood in front of Kaizen, side by side, and raised their shields to form a wall.

“We’re not going to let him through that easily!”

At that moment it was impossible for Kaizen not to smile. After all, seeing players playing as Tank made him remember his past as a Tank role player in Myth2. Obviously, Rise Online was a completely different game, with different mechanics and seven years of difference from Myth2, however, Kaizen knew that no matter how much time passed Tanks would still have the same role and in this case Psyker knew exactly their weaknesses.

When Kaizen saw that Jarnus and Kalma were forming a standard group defense wall, he quickly reasoned that he would need to go around or try to outwit these two, because going head-to-head with two Tanks was insane.

Kaizen then decided that it would be better to go around. To do this, he ran to the left.

Jarnus, who was on Psyker’s left, moved quickly to stop him, while Kalma stood still at the front of his group.

‘He’s faster than I expected.’ Kaizen thought as he saw that Jarnus had no trouble filling the flank.

However, Kaizen did not give up. He used the pilasters to move and conceal himself, which attracted more attention from Jarnus, who was alertly following the Psyker’s movement with his eyes. Thanks to this, Jarnus stood a few inches further away from the others than he should have.

‘Now it’s one versus one.’ the Psyker thought and swung his sword.

With subtle movements, Kaizen cut off a few pieces of the pilasters as he moved. The Storm Eye’s blade cut through the polished quartz like butter.

The moment the Psyker appeared before Jarnus, the Tank was not even surprised and quickly prepared to slap him with his shield.

“You won’t get past me as easy as you expect!” Jarnus exclaimed.

The other members of Taznaar’s guild were trying to see how they could provide support, but considering that Kaizen was fast, that he was using some pillars to conceal himself, and that Jarnus was in the way between them, there was nothing they could do, so it was a one-on-one battle at that point.

Wielding the Eye of Storm in his right hand, Kaizen pretended to strike against Jarnus’ shield and just as the Tank was going to not only defend himself but also counterattack, the Psyker used his left hand to pull a large piece of a pilaster that he sliced off. At the same time that Kaizen used <Telekinesis> to do so, he stepped back.

‘What!?’ Jarnus saw the enemy retreating and soon also saw the piece of quartz flying towards him.

He quickly raised his heavy, rectangular shield to fend off the structure coming from his left, since Kaizen had already moved some distance away.

*Troooom*

Jarnus managed to partially defend himself against the quartz, which smashed into hundreds of pieces. This took a lot of his stamina, especially to move the heavy shield with such speed.

This was the moment Kaizen had prepared so carefully. Without a second thought, the Psyker advanced again against Jasnur, who no longer had the stamina to move his shield as he did before.
