Chapter 293 - 292: A Helicopter??

Chapter 293: Chapter 292: A Helicopter??

As they flew, crowds on the ground looked up at the huge machine, many of them taking out their phones to take pictures.

Before long, WeChat Moments, Kuaishou, and Douyin feeds were flooded with posts about a helicopter.

After all, for the average person, seeing this kind of helicopter was a rare sight.

Some sharp-eyed people, however, noticed something strange after zooming in on their photos. Fang Chenyi, of course, was oblivious to all of this. By now, they had already landed at the airport.

The helicopter slowly descended. Just as it touched down, a phone rang. A glance at the number showed it was Director Sun.

After answering, Director Sun’s somewhat puzzled voice came through the phone:

"President Fang, are you still coming to the airport? We’ve already reached the arrivals gate. If you’re busy, we can take Professor Wu straight to the hotel, and you can just meet us there."

Director Sun had been checking the time. It was already 12:10, but there was still no sign of Fang Chenyi. Professor Wu’s plane was due to land in a few minutes, so he wanted to ask if Fang Chenyi was stuck in traffic.

Fang Chenyi chuckled.

"Haha, I was running a little late but just got to the airport. Hey, Director Sun, head over to the VIP entrance. I’ll have someone wait for you there. We can talk when we meet."

Hearing that Fang Chenyi had arrived, Director Sun let out a long sigh of relief. After all, Professor Wu was a man of considerable status. The fact that he had personally come to help with the design was already a great honor. If Fang Chenyi didn’t show up, it would seem quite disrespectful.

But after scanning the airport terminal, he couldn’t see Fang Chenyi anywhere. Hearing that he was at the VIP entrance, Director Sun could only shake his head helplessly. He said a quick word to the colleague who had come with him and headed for the entrance to the main hall.

However, when he reached the entrance, he still couldn’t see Fang Chenyi. Just then, Director Sun’s phone rang. He took it out and saw it was a call from Fang Chenyi.

"Director Sun, have you reached the entrance? I don’t see you over here."

Director Sun glanced around as he replied:

"I’m here, but I don’t see you either. There’s no one here at the arrivals gate right now."

Hearing this, Fang Chenyi paused, realizing Director Sun must have misunderstood.

"Er, no, I’m already inside the airport proper, not out in the main terminal. Come to the VIP boarding gate. I’m waiting for you here."

Er...

Director Sun was speechless. ’How did he end up on the tarmac?’

He hung up and hurried toward the VIP accessway. Sure enough, he saw Fang Chenyi inside. After they waved to each other, Fang Chenyi said something to the staff, who then performed a security check on Director Sun before letting him through.

Just as he got inside, a plane slowly landed on the runway.

Hearing the sound behind him, Fang Chenyi glanced back, then pointed to the nearby VIP arrivals exit.

"That should be Professor Wu’s plane. Let’s go wait for him over there."

Director Sun had no objections, of course, and followed the pair to the arrivals gate to wait.

A few minutes later, the plane came to a complete stop, and the passengers began to disembark one by one.

Because this was only a small airport, it wasn’t equipped with jet bridges that connected directly to the terminal. Therefore, after deplaning, everyone had to walk across the tarmac to the arrivals hall.

Before long, a spirited little old man came into view. Seeing him, Director Sun quickly told Fang Chenyi that this was Professor Wu, and the group walked forward to greet him.

As they got closer, the three of them noticed that Professor Wu hadn’t come alone. He was accompanied by a cute girl of about twenty, who skipped along beside him with a sports backpack on. Her lively, wide eyes darted around, taking in the surroundings.

"Hello, Professor Wu. I’m Xiaosun from the Investment Promotion Bureau. This is Chairman Fang Chenyi, and next to him is his wife. Welcome to Qinhuang Island!"

Since it wasn’t Fang Chenyi who had invited him, Director Sun was the first to step forward and introduce everyone.

After Director Sun finished the introductions, Fang Chenyi smiled, extended his hand to shake Professor Wu’s, and offered a polite greeting.

After a round of pleasantries, the five of them were all acquainted. The girl with Professor Wu was his granddaughter, Wu Xin, who was also one of his students.

"Haha, let’s head to the hotel first. We’ve already prepared a meal. Professor Wu, you must be tired from your journey, so let’s have a simple bite to eat first."

Once everyone was introduced, Director Sun suggested they head out and continue their chat elsewhere. But Fang Chenyi smilingly interjected, "Director Sun is right. It’s already noon, let’s go eat first."

With that, he took the lead, guiding the group deeper into the airport.

Seeing Fang Chenyi leading them away from the exit, Director Sun was understandably confused and asked him in a low voice:

"President Fang, should I take Professor Wu outside to wait for you?"

Fang Chenyi paused at the question, then it dawned on him. Director Sun had no idea he’d arrived by helicopter. He chuckled, tapped his forehead, and explained:

"Ah, look at my memory. I forgot to tell you, Director Sun. I was thinking that after lunch, we could fly over the industrial park to survey the terrain. It’ll make the drafting process easier. So, I came by helicopter."

It was only then that Director Sun had his ’aha’ moment. He had been wondering how Fang Chenyi had gotten airside in the first place. So that was it—the man had flown in on a helicopter.

Considering Fang Chenyi’s status, owning a private helicopter was perfectly normal.

Realization dawning, he let out a laugh. The group then followed Fang Chenyi toward another part of the airfield.

After rounding a building, a helicopter came into view.

But when the group got a clear look at it, their jaws dropped one by one. Even the well-traveled Professor Wu couldn’t help but be amazed.

Wu Xin, in particular, stood next to Professor Wu with her mouth wide open. She pointed at the helicopter, her face a mask of shock as she asked:

"Chairman Fang, you came in *this* helicopter? That’s so cool!"

Professor Wu shot his granddaughter a look for her outburst, then also asked, a little uncertainly:

"This is...?"

Fang Chenyi stopped, turned back, and gave a slightly helpless but smiling nod.

"Heh, yes, this is what I came in. It can be a bit bumpy, so I hope you don’t mind, Professor Wu."

But Professor Wu just waved his hand dismissively, his face showing a hint of excitement.

"Hah, what are you talking about? I used to be in the army! A little turbulence is nothing. Let’s go, let’s go! It’s been decades since I’ve been in one of these."
