Lu Yunque didn’t say it would be free of charge, and both Yun Zijin’s and Qin Sitong’s eyes lit up.

"If I’d known, I would’ve just asked you back then. We had to shop around so much before we finally found this team, and they were supposed to have a good reputation.

If this is what a ’good reputation’ gets you, I can only imagine how bad the other teams are."

Qin Sitong nodded in vehement agreement. If she’d known Lu Yunque had these kinds of resources, she wouldn’t have wasted so much time running around and comparing options, only to end up with... this.

"It’s fine. I’ll have someone keep an eye on the renovation for you, so you won’t have to go over every day."

The shop on Xinghua Street is filled with construction workers and staff from the design studio, and they’re almost all men.

Two young women going there alone is like lambs to the slaughter. You never know if one of those guys might suddenly get some bad ideas.

They might not dare to try anything at the Xinghua Street site, but what if they decided to follow one of them home one day? It’s just too dangerous for two young women.

At that moment, Lu Yunque completely forgot that Yun Zijin had a bodyguard team with her 24/7.

Anyone who wanted to hit on her should probably think twice about who really needed to be careful.

Of course, Qin Sitong was another story. She wasn’t with Yun Zijin every second of the day.

"You’re sending someone to supervise? Who?"

Yun Zijin hadn’t expected to get such a bonus out of bringing Lu Yunque here.

Having an expert on hand would be perfect.

"The team leader of Group 1 from my company’s interior design division. He’s an interior design professional, so he’ll definitely know his way around renovations."

"That works. But we still have to go see it for ourselves. We can’t be so out of the loop that we don’t even know what’s going on with our own shop. If some major screw-up happens and we’re clueless, we’ll be a laughingstock."

While Yun Zijin wasn’t going to be involved in the day-to-day operations, she still wanted to be part of the initial setup.

She couldn’t just dump everything on Qin Sitong.

Even if Qin Sitong didn’t mind, Yun Zijin herself would feel bad about it.

"That’s fine, but when you go, you absolutely must remember to take your bodyguards."

Lu Yunque was extremely concerned about Yun Zijin’s personal safety.

"Don’t worry. My bodyguards are with me 24/7."

If there was one thing Yun Zijin was diligent about, it was her bodyguards.

’She wasn’t like those heroines in TV shows and movies. The hero arranges bodyguards for them, only for them to ditch the guards for some ridiculous reason and go off on their own. In the end, they just hold the hero back, basically fulfilling their quota as the villain’s unwitting spy. Truly something to celebrate.’

’Every time Yun Zijin saw a plot like that, she couldn’t help but think, *That heroine is a fucking idiot!*’

’She’s practically gift-wrapping herself for the villain. They’d be embarrassed not to take the free kill.’

’Sometimes she really felt that sense of helpless frustration, wishing she could reach through the screen and slap the heroine awake.’

"Good, as long as you understand. I just worry you might forget to take them one day. There are a lot of people keeping an eye on you right now."

Lu Yunque knew it was true. The only reason those people hadn’t succeeded yet was because Yun Zijin always had her bodyguards with her.

Lu Yunque had to admit, he really admired Yun Zijin when it came to her choice of bodyguards.

Even the top security firms would be hard-pressed to find agents with an aura as formidable as hers.

In fact, Lu Yunque suspected they had all drawn blood before; they just showed their gentler side in front of Yun Zijin.

"Let them stare. I’d like to see them try to get past Zero One and his team to kidnap me."

Yun Zijin might not have a lot of other things, but she had bodyguards in spades. She could take a different one every day of the week and never see the same face twice.

"As long as you’re with Zero One’s team, of course no one would dare touch you. I’m just worried you’ll get careless and separated from them at some point."

Plenty of people were watching Yun Zijin. The moment she was alone, someone would absolutely seize the opportunity to rob or kidnap her.

"I’ll be careful."

Yun Zijin cherished her life, thank you very much.

Lu Yunque dropped Qin Sitong off at Dijing University first, then turned to ask Yun Zijin, "Anywhere you want to go today?"

"The South Suburb. I want to go check on the construction of my manor."

Yun Zijin hadn’t been to see it in a long time. She only asked Mei Lin about the progress whenever she happened to think of it.

The moment he heard "manor," Lu Yunque knew where she meant. "Alright, I’ll go with you."

As long as he was with Yun Zijin, the destination didn’t really matter. Lu Yunque had once again stolen the job of being the driver from Zero One and his team.

Yun Zijin, considerate as ever, took the passenger seat next to him, while Zero One went to sit with the other bodyguards.

「South Suburb.」

Wearing a hard hat, Mei Lin was in a serious discussion with an engineer and the construction team.

Her eyes lit up the moment she looked up and saw Yun Zijin. "Miss, what are you doing here? The site is still under construction and it’s too dangerous. It would be best if you didn’t go inside."

Mei Lin was just being considerate of Yun Zijin. If anything happened to her, even a small scratch, she wouldn’t know what to do.

"It’s fine. I’m not some delicate princess. I can handle a bit of rough terrain."

Yun Zijin hadn’t always been rich. Before she got the Randomly Spend system, there wasn’t a hardship she hadn’t endured.

"I think Mei Lin is right," Lu Yunque added. "It’s not a matter of whether you can walk it or not. The site is active, so there are bound to be countless safety hazards. It’s better not to go in."

With both of them against it, Yun Zijin had no choice but to give up.

"Alright, fine. I’ll just look from out here. But it’s been so long. Isn’t even one section finished yet?"

Yun Zijin couldn’t wait to see the finished manor.

"Phase one is already wrapping up," Mei Lin explained. "But the interior hasn’t been cleaned up yet, and the paths inside are treacherous.

There are too many safety hazards. What if you step on a nail or something falls and hits you on the head? It’s no laughing matter."

No matter how many times Yun Zijin asked, Mei Lin and Lu Yunque refused to let her enter the construction site.

"What about the basement, then? That should be further along, right?"

Both Lu Yunque and Mei Lin knew that when Yun Zijin said "basement," she was actually referring to Tang ZhaoLin’s laboratory.

Since it was built underground, calling it a basement wasn’t wrong.

"Construction on the basement started before the work above ground, so it’s already entering the final phase.

It should be fully operational before the end of the year."

The lab was already fine for daily use, and Tang ZhaoLin was already working there. It’s just that some areas hadn’t been completed yet, so a few instruments and functions weren’t available.

In the end, Yun Zijin could only walk a short distance along the perimeter of the manor. Finding it utterly boring, she finally gave up on her idea of touring the site.

On the way back, Lu Yunque no longer wanted to drive. He sat with Yun Zijin in the back of the luxury van provided by Randomly Spend, his eyes seemingly glued to her, completely unable to look away.

"What are you staring at?"

Lu Yunque’s intense gaze made Yun Zijin a little uncomfortable. She could hardly believe that the legendary "Iceberg Prince of Dijing," Mr. Lu himself, was capable of making such a sappy expression.
