Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss
Chapter 1291 - 1263: Finally Decided
Chapter 1291: Chapter 1263: Finally Decided
Yu Xiaolang as a name doesn’t sound like a girl’s at all, right? It sounds just as silly as Yu Aishan!
Yu Minglang doesn’t think he’s come up with a bad idea; in fact, he’s quite proud of himself. Lately, he’s been gearing up for this sacred moment.
Mrs. Yu finally snapped out of her shock and calmly said.
"You’ve lost your naming rights; let’s continue the discussion."
"Why should I lose them?! I’m the biological dad!" Yu Minglang protested.
Xiaolang is great; he is called Minglang, and his daughter Xiaolang. If we have more kids, they can be named Erlang, Sanlang...
Approving such a name would be crazy.
"You might as well have stuffed your studies down a dog’s stomach instead of coming up with such a terrible name. Even being the biological dad doesn’t work; now move aside!" Mrs. Yu pushed her son.
Everyone collectively ignored him, and feeling excluded, Yu Minglang walked over to Qian’s bedside to seek his wife’s support, but Qian closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
Still dissatisfied, Yu Minglang mumbled to his sleeping daughter.
"Sweetheart, do you want to be called Xiaolang?"
The second before, the little one was asleep, but upon hearing this from her dad, her small face scrunched up, as if she encountered an unpleasant situation in her dream, looking ready to cry.
Qian peeked with amusement, thinking, serves him right, even the child dislikes it!
The little one’s sleep seemed unstable; her expression grew more concerning as if she was on the verge of crying. Attentive Panpan hurriedly leaned over, mimicking the way people at home soothe her younger brother, softly humming a lullaby. Upon hearing, the little one’s expression gradually relaxed. She glanced at Panpan, then closed her eyes to continue sleeping, her little mouth moving slightly.
That look made Panpan extraordinarily fond.
"The rushes are lush, the white dew is frost, that elegant figure is across the water..." Panpan muttered softly, her voice drowned out by the adults’ discussions.
A dispute emerged over the naming rights of the little baby, and it was nearly a brawl.
One argued as the head of the family, they should have naming rights, while the other insisted as the biological father, emotional continuity was necessary—Qian’s head felt ached from the noise post-childbirth. Was this chaos really appropriate?
In the end, Mrs. Yu made the decision: no more arguing, to be fair, we’d draw lots!
Of course, considering the child’s future, any unpleasant names drawn, like Shan Pau or Xiaolang, would be discarded—this was Mrs. Yu’s internal rule. Everyone agreed that this method was fair, increasing the chance for each person to win naming rights, it seemed like a good idea.
Qian felt it wasn’t a good idea.
If her daughter ended up named Yu Xiaolang or Yu Yishan, how would she explain these terrible names to her child later?
Yet she couldn’t overpower the majority—everyone else agreed, and following family rules, the minority conforms to the majority.
Everyone received a piece of paper and earnestly wrote down the name they had in mind. Qian wrote Yu Yiwei, glanced at her sleeping daughter afterwards, and sighed inwardly.
Dear child, your mom tried her best. If you’re ever burdened with a peculiar name, don’t blame your mom.
Some stress over having an unloved daughter; her stress arises from having a too-loved daughter. Everyone’s vying to name her, and with odd names like Shan Pau and Xiaolang sneaking in, Qian felt grateful that Yu Minglang hadn’t suggested naming their child Da Lang—it would be like growing up to carry a basket selling flatbreads!
Several slips of paper were tossed into the small basin, and Yu Minglang wore a confident grin.
"As the biological dad, I’ll draw. Anyone object?"
"Move aside!" Mrs. Yu pushed him aside; everyone knew the youngest member’s wickedness—his cheating methods were endless, never won against him in cards!
This shameless fellow even concealed tiles when playing 50-cent mahjong with older women, utterly untrustworthy!
Mrs. Yu’s gaze circled around; she found all the Yu men unreliable. Her eyes shifted and landed on Panpan.
Mrs. Yu beamed, smiling broadly; children are like pure flower buds and won’t cheat!
"Panpan, come over here to Grandma, you pick one."
Oh, there’s this tactic! Xiaoqiang lamented, his eyes darting; he tried leaning over to whisper to Panpan but was shooed away by Mrs. Yu.
"Stand far away from me! Panpan, you draw!"
Panpan clenched her little fist, maintaining a stoic face just like her second brother.
All eyes were on Panpan. She moved her fist around the basin and then pulled it out, with a slip in her hand.
Everyone stretched their necks to see, the slip unfolded, everyone read together.
"Yu Yi...ren?!"
Who wrote this?
Mrs. Yu and the others exchanged puzzled glances, remembering no one mentioned this. After a while, they concluded it was the handwriting of the second brother.
Panpan kept silent, while the second brother gazed at his son, a faint smile playing on his lips, with amusement in his eyes.
"Second, it’s yours?" Mrs. Yu asked.
The second brother looked at Panpan for two seconds; his son remained silent. Then the second brother replied slowly.
"Yes, I wrote it."
Panpan looked up in surprise, glanced at his dad, and the second brother winked at him; Panpan smiled.
"Yiren, Yu Yiren... that elegant figure across the water, the autumn water Yiren, Yiren shining like water..."
Yu Minglang repeated it several times and found it quite catchy.
Qian also found that while Yiwei wasn’t drawn as the formal name, Xiaowei could be the child’s nickname. Yu Yiren was a rather grand name, much better than Shan Pau or Wu Dalang.
Everyone agreed, except Mr. Yu, who thought Shan Pau was better—everyone else found it pleasant and easy to say.
Yiren: unique, the only girl in the Yu family, beautiful and precious, simple yet grand, quite fitting.
"So the child’s formal name is set: Yu Yiren! Now let’s discuss the nickname. I think we should call—" Mrs. Yu hadn’t finished, when Mr. Yu spoke up again.
"Xiaoshan!"
Ignore that!
Everyone inwardly rolled their eyes; the old man kept clinging to the mountain theme.
"I’ve already decided the nickname, it must be Xiaowei." Qian, having given up the child’s formal family entrance name, insisted on naming her nickname.
"Yes, my daughter’s name will be Da Wei."
Yu Minglang differed by just one character from Qian.
Seeing these two so fond of ’Wei,’ no more arguments were raised. And thus, this newly-born child’s formal name became Yu Yiren, and the nickname Xiaowei or Da Wei.
Once they left the hospital and got into the family car, the second brother asked Panpan.
"When did you learn to imitate my handwriting?"
"Just learned..."
The second brother chuckled, rubbed his head, "Great job, no one noticed."
