Return of Black Lotus system:Taming Cheating Male Leads
Chapter 785 --785
Chapter 785: Chapter-785
LHeena hauled it up and transferred the water into her own container. The moment she tried to lift the filled bucket, however, she realized just how heavy it was.
Her lips twitched.
Water really is the most troublesome thing in this world.
While she was adjusting her grip, one of the women nearby glanced at her bucket.
"Hey, girl! Why are you taking so much water? Are you going to cook something?"
Heena looked up.
"Oh, no. I’m going to take a bath."
The woman paused, then glanced at the water before looking back at Heena.
"Then why aren’t you bathing here?"
Heena lowered her head slightly, trying to keep her answer casual.
"No, no. It’s fine. I’ll just go back and bathe inside my house."
For a moment, the women stared at her.
Then one of them looked her up and down, her expression turning incredulous.
"You’re a woman, aren’t you? It’s not as though you’re secretly a man in disguise!"
The moment she finished speaking, the others burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! Exactly! What’s there to be embarrassed about?"
"What’s so special about taking a bath? We’re all women here!"
"Look at her, carrying all that water home just to bathe! What a strange girl!"
Their laughter rang out around the well.
Heena stood there, holding her heavy bucket, her expression becoming increasingly complicated.
She looked at the women, then at the water, and finally at the rope still hanging over the well.
For a moment, she seriously considered whether she had somehow wandered into the wrong century.
No bathroom. No toilet. No private bathing space. And now I’m the strange one for wanting to bathe in peace?
She drew a slow breath and forced a polite smile onto her face.
"Well, everyone has their own habits, don’t they?"
With that, she adjusted her grip on the bucket and prepared to leave.
Just wait. The moment I earn enough money, the first thing I’m building is a proper bathroom.
She had endured enough.
If she had to keep living in this world, then she was going to make sure she could at least take a bath without having to explain herself to half the neighborhood!
The system had always claimed that Heena was a mischievous woman. Whenever she got angry, he would call her a little demon, saying that she was always losing her temper over the smallest things.
But honestly, if someone kept provoking her while she was trying her best to remain calm, who wouldn’t get angry?
And right now, the system was doing exactly that.
Heena had barely managed to lift the heavy bucket when the little fellow suddenly appeared beside her. The moment he saw her carrying water, he burst into laughter.
"Oh my God, Host! Hahahaha! What’s with your luck? You were carrying buckets and pots in the previous world, and now you’re doing the same thing all over again!"
He clutched his stomach, laughing as though he had just witnessed the funniest thing in the world.
"Seriously, what kind of life are you living? And wait, why are you only carrying one bucket? You stood in that long line just to fill a single bucket? Oh my God! How useless can you be?"
Heena stopped walking.
Her fingers tightened around the bucket handle.
She had been trying so hard to control her temper. She had endured the pain in her wound, waited twenty minutes in a queue, and struggled to pull the heavy bucket out of the well. Now, just when she was finally leaving, this little bastard had appeared to make fun of her!
You damn bastard!
Heena glared at him, her teeth grinding together.
Whose fault do you think it is that I have to carry water from one place to another? Who was the one who threw me into this ridiculous world in the first place?
And now, with this useless body of mine, you expect me to carry two buckets at once?
Why don’t you try carrying one yourself? I’ll even call you Daddy if you manage it!
The system’s laughter gradually faded as he noticed the murderous look on her face.
For some reason, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
"Host?"
Heena continued staring at him.
The system took a small step backward.
"I-I was just joking!"
Heena smiled.
It was a beautiful smile, too. Unfortunately, the system knew her well enough to understand that a smile like that was far more dangerous than her usual scowl.
"If you don’t stop this nonsense," she said through gritted teeth, "I promise you, I’ll throw you into a pot, boil you alive, and turn you into a little roasted kitten."
The system’s entire body trembled.
"U-understood!"
"Good."
Heena adjusted the bucket in her hand and continued walking.
The system hurried after her, keeping a safe distance this time.
He had only wanted to tease his host a little. How was he supposed to know that she would get so angry?
Then again, considering how much trouble she had gone through just to fetch a bucket of water, perhaps he should have kept his mouth shut.
Watching Heena’s back, the system quietly swallowed his words.
My host really is a demon...
But the moment Heena turned her head slightly, he immediately straightened up and put on his most innocent expression.
Heena snorted.

Thirty minutes later.....
After returning from her bath, Heena changed into a clean set of clothes and finally climbed into bed.
For the first time since arriving in this world, she felt somewhat refreshed. Her body was clean, her stomach was full, and she had managed to finish her work for the day.
Of course, she wasn’t sleeping peacefully because she had made any significant progress with her mission. No, not at all.
She was simply exhausted.
Between dealing with her injury, cooking, fetching water, and arguing with that damn system, she had barely had a moment to herself. If someone offered her a mountain of gold right now, she might not even bother opening her eyes to look at it.
Within minutes, Heena fell into a deep sleep.
The system, who had settled down beside her, was also sleeping peacefully.
At least, he had been.
It was the middle of the night, somewhere around one or two in the morning, when a sudden red light flashed before his face.
DING! DING! DING! DING!
A series of urgent alarms rang through the otherwise silent room.
\[EMERGENCY ALERT! SYSTEM 4-2-7, RESPOND IMMEDIATELY!\]
The system’s eyes snapped open.
For a moment, he stared at the flashing red notice in disbelief. Then he hurriedly sat up, his sleepy expression instantly replaced by shock.
Beside him, Heena stirred at the noise.
"What happened?" she mumbled, opening her eyes with considerable effort.
The system turned toward her, still visibly shaken.
"H-Host, it’s an alert notice!"
Heena slowly raised her eyebrows.
"An alert notice?"
"Yes! I don’t know exactly what happened, but it seems like something serious has occurred. All systems have been ordered to return to headquarters for an emergency briefing!"
Even as he spoke, the red notice continued flashing in front of him.
Heena sat up and took the notice from his hands.
Her sleepy expression disappeared as she began reading.
A few seconds later, her eyebrows drew together.
