Chapter 681: Chapter 681: Fainted on the Spot

To everyone watching, it was clear that Annabelle Linton had simply dodged back after seeing Mrs. Yates.

The crowd was in an uproar when they saw this.

"Tsk, tsk. So she really did fall on her own. How could she have the nerve to frame Mrs. Grant? She’s absolutely shameless!"

"Exactly! This woman is disgusting. She was bidding against Mrs. Grant, and when she couldn’t win, she called Mrs. Grant shameless. Mrs. Grant respected her as an elder and let her have it, but then she complained it was too expensive? Seriously, if you can’t afford it, just say so! Why play all these games? And the most important part is, after the item was shattered, Mrs. Grant wasn’t even going to press the issue, but she turned around and pinned the blame on her!"

"And that’s not all! She had the audacity to try and scratch her face. If Young Master Grant hadn’t been there, Mrs. Grant’s face would have been ruined! Well, look what happened now. She injured Young Master Grant. She’s really in for it this time!"

Hearing this, Mrs. Yates shook her head frantically. "It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! That bitch Annabelle Linton set me up! She’s the one who baited me... Hubby..."

Mrs. Yates grabbed Mr. Yates’s arm, crying, "It wasn’t me! It really wasn’t me!"

"Get away from me!" Mr. Yates’s face was livid. He seethed with disappointment, "You imbecile!"

’What fucking terrible luck. Was I out of my goddamn mind, marrying such a brain-dead moron?!’

The event organizer walked up to the couple and addressed Mrs. Yates. "Hello, Mrs. Yates. According to the surveillance footage, our exhibit was, in fact, destroyed by you. Therefore, you will be required to pay the full three hundred million. If you refuse to pay, you are welcome to speak with our legal team..."

He paused, a faint smirk playing on his lips as he pointed in a certain direction. "However, I would advise you to stop denying it. Just a friendly reminder: anything you say can be used as evidence in court. Besides, you seem to have your hands full at the moment... We can wait a couple of days and give you a deadline."

Mrs. Yates followed his gaze and saw Chase striding menacingly toward her.

Trailing behind him was a large group of people in sharp suits, each holding a folder. They were clearly a legal team.

Mrs. Yates immediately panicked.

Chase stopped in front of them, his expression impassive. "Hello, Mrs. Yates, Mr. Yates. We have already compiled the video footage, witness testimonies, and physical evidence regarding you injuring our President just now."

He handed them a document. "As of now, we are suing you for assault. We don’t wish to escalate the matter. This is a settlement agreement. Abide by it, and we can put this behind us. If you cannot, you can speak with our legal team. Here is a letter of demand from them. Feel free to sue us anytime. We will see it through to the very end."

With that, Chase turned and walked away, leaving them with nothing but the sight of his back.

Mrs. Yates belatedly opened the document. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to her knees.

The document stated that... they could either pay ten billion as compensation for emotional distress and medical expenses, and the matter would be dropped.

Or... they could take it to court!

’Ten billion! They’d have to scramble just to come up with three hundred million!’

’And as for a lawsuit... who didn’t know that the Grant Group’s legal team was the best in the world?’

’How could they possibly win a fight against them?’

Staring at the agreement, the shock was too much for Mrs. Yates. Her blood pressure spiked, and she fainted on the spot. Someone in the crowd immediately called for an ambulance...

...

And just like that, Mrs. Yates remained unconscious for the entire following week.
