Chapter 662: Chapter 662: Is It Really for Me?

Annabelle Linton chuckled at his excitement, then took a box from the cabinet and handed it to him. "Go on, open it."

Leona Grant eagerly took it and, like a child who had just received a gift, immediately opened it.

Inside the black velvet box, a watch lay peacefully.

It was a model reminiscent of a Rolex, with a black strap—a style that was youthful and understated, not flashy, yet possessed a deep, reserved quality.

At only twenty-five, Leona Grant could certainly afford watches dripping in gold and diamonds, but he disliked the gaudy, "nouveau riche" look that screamed "tycoon."

Even though he was, in fact, a tycoon.

But this one, he liked it the moment he saw it.

Although he had a flamboyant personality, he always chose understated luxury items, like watches.

He owned watches worth millions, even tens of millions, each one exorbitantly priced, but he’d never felt particularly attached to any of them.

But this was the first he had ever received from Annabelle Linton.

In all their years of marriage, this was the first gift she had ever given him. How could he not be ecstatic?

Leona Grant took the watch out of the box and handed it to her, his brilliant smile nearly dazzling Annabelle Linton. "Put it on for me."

Annabelle Linton took it with a smile and lowered her gaze to fasten it on his wrist.

Leona Grant’s affectionate eyes remained fixed on her, not looking away for even a moment.

’He truly didn’t understand why some married couples grew more distant over time, even growing tired of one another.’

’But with Annabelle Linton, it was completely different.’

’He found that she was like quicksand; the more time he spent with her, the deeper he sank, unable to pull himself free.’

’Being with her, there were always endless things to talk about, endless things to do.’

’He couldn’t imagine... without her, how could he possibly go on living?’

’It would probably be just like his dream self—if she were gone, he would have no choice but to die with her.’

’And that would be fine. As long as he could be with her, what did it matter where they were?’

Annabelle Linton rolled up his shirt sleeve and quickly fastened the watch.

Once it was on, she looked at him. "How does it look?"

Leona Grant, still lost in his thoughts, was gazing at her tenderly.

Annabelle Linton paused, then shook his arm gently. "It’s on."

That brought Leona Grant back to his senses. He looked down at the watch on his wrist and broke into a smile.

"Is it really for me?"

"Do you like it?"

At her question, Leona Grant’s face lit up with pure, childlike satisfaction. "I love it. I love it, I love it, I love it..."

Annabelle Linton, of course, knew he loved it because it was a gift from her.

In his entire life, there was nothing Leona Grant couldn’t obtain. This was the first time Annabelle Linton had ever seen him so taken with an object.

Seeing his delight, she couldn’t help but smile as well. ’As long as he likes it, that’s all that matters.’

...

「The dinner party began at seven that evening.」

Annabelle Linton arrived on the arm of Leona Grant.

She wore a silver evening gown, her hair swept into a high updo. The style revealed her smooth, clear forehead and fair skin, throwing the flawless contours of her face into sharp relief. She was breathtakingly beautiful.

The gown wasn’t conservative, but it was by no means revealing—it was just right.

At her side, Leona Grant was clad in a black, handmade Italian suit. His tall, imposing figure was handsome on a whole other level.

The light from the crystal chandeliers cascaded over them, shrouding them in an almost sacred radiance. Their pairing—noble and coolly elegant—dazzled everyone present.

—The most glorious and noble of men, and the most ravishing of women.

It seemed to be the first time since their wedding that the two had made such a picture-perfect public appearance together, and it left everyone feeling rather baffled.
