Remarriage Failed Again Today

Chapter 654: Chapter 664: A Test, a Slip-Up 10
’But she still took the bait. The test worked, didn’t it?’
The recording and video were now nothing more than bait. Just as she’d said, they were only useful to her and Vivian Yates. To anyone else, they were completely worthless.
’So, will Vivian go for the recording and video?’
Vivian Yates was lost in her own happy thoughts, completely unaware that Annabelle Linton’s phone was connected to the security feed from the hallway.
On the monitor, her smile was so radiant, so innocent, and so... foolish.
She had absolutely no idea she’d already fallen into a massive trap.
Annabelle Linton’s lips quirked up as she watched Vivian’s gleeful back on the monitor, a disdainful smile playing on her lips.
’Vivian Yates, all the pain you caused me in my last life—I will pay it all back to you, a thousand, ten thousand times over!’
—
「A few days later」
Vivian Yates had made all the necessary preparations.
She specifically chose a day when no one would be around.
Annabelle Linton and Leona Grant had gone on a trip, and Ashley Grant had been called away by the Grant Family early that morning, supposedly to attend a banquet or some such event.
’A day like this is perfect for stealing something.’
Vivian Yates wasn’t a complete fool; she knew she might not succeed on her own, so she’d found a way to sneak a few maids into the villa.
These maids had worked for the Yates Family before, so she considered them trustworthy. More importantly, she knew their weaknesses and wasn’t worried about them betraying her.
Her plan was set in motion at noon.
This villa was actually built over the water; from the garden, you could see the endless expanse of the sea.
The villa’s construction had taken a full six months, and to the average person, it was practically The Royal Palace.
It was a leisurely afternoon. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, creating a pleasant sound. Everyone was enjoying the peaceful afternoon, quietly going about their business.
Just then, a cry for help shattered the sky, breaking the tranquil silence of the afternoon. "Help! Fire! There’s a fire! Somebody, help!"
BEEEEEEEP—
The fire alarm blared throughout the villa, sending everyone into a panic. The entire estate was gripped by fear!
"The east wing! There’s a fire in the east wing! Everyone, quick, put it out!"
"The east wing! To the fire! Everyone with me!"
The butler led the entire household staff, grabbing firefighting equipment, and rushed to the east wing.
The east wing housed a vast collection of antiques. The calligraphy and paintings Leona Grant loved to collect were all stored there. If any of it burned and Her Majesty held them responsible, not even ten of their heads would be enough to atone!
And just like that, everyone went to fight the fire, and the entire living room fell silent.
Vivian Yates didn’t dare waste a second, immediately running to Annabelle Linton and Leona Grant’s bedroom.
To avoid leaving fingerprints or other evidence, Vivian Yates had specifically put on disposable gloves. She opened the cabinet and took out the safe.
’She knew Annabelle Linton would eventually discover she was the one who stole the evidence, but this will at least buy me some time!’
’Once I have the goods, I’ll leave this very afternoon. Get out of here.’
She couldn’t let Annabelle discover her identity before then. If she were found out right away, it wouldn’t be long before Annabelle hunted her down.
’If that happens, I’m done for...’
’My plan is to go to Vostokya first. It’s a huge country, so I’ll be harder to find. I’ll travel by sea this time. That way, Chase Lynch shouldn’t be able to find me, right...?’
Though Vivian Yates’s plan seemed flawless, her heart still trembled with fear.
She took a breath and gently entered the code. Sure enough, inside the small safe sat a voice recorder and a manila envelope.
