Reincarnator Returns: Second Shot
Chapter 117: Redd
While they were in the market, Eren saw a certain chubby person in the crowd waving at him to get his attention.
Eren walked towards Pang Cai, who seemed to be worried to tell him about something.
"Hey friend! Did you know that you may be the subject of a certain group’s ire?"
So it’s already been spread...
"Yeah. In fact, they just attacked us," Eren said.
"Oh... and you guys were okay?"
Eren smiled. "What do you think?"
Pang Cai gave him a look of approval. "That’s really good. From what my informants had told me, you had been targeted by a leader called Redd. And they’re not a mediocre group for that matter. They are a hundred-member group strong, with multiple territories under their banner."
That tracked well to what Eren heard. Before they let go of their invaders, he had asked them where they came from. Of course, most of them didn’t say anything. But with a little bit of threatening, one immediately squealed about their leader and their group.
"Are there any other group I should worry about?" Eren asked. "Is the loot box really that popular?"
"Congrats about that, by the way. That’s mighty impressive!" Pang Cai said, tapping his shoulders. "But the reason why Redd attacked you may be because of some other matter."
Eren’s eyebrows raised. "Why then?"
"Welll, it’s because Redd is sponsored by the Elvenied Riders," Pang Cai said, as if that would answer Eren’s question.
"..."
"You don’t know? Have you been living under a rock or something? Everybody knows about the rivalry between the Elvenied Riders and the Lindberg family."
Ahhh.... Now he understood why. It seemed that this attack had been orchestrated by Redd in an attempt to impress his sponsors.
By attacking Eren’s group, they would earn the approval of the Elvenied Riders, and maybe even get the Martial Manuals that they got from the lootbox. It was like killing two birds with one stone.
No wonder they attacked him. Eren would have done so as well, given the same circumstances.
"That means that they’re not going to end this with just one attack," Eren muttered.
"Probably. They’re a bigger group. That means that they know they can bully smaller groups like yours."
Perhaps this was what Kaiser meant when he warned him earlier. Everybody now knew that he was sponsored by the Lindbergs, meaning their enemies knew that as well. And that meant that he had a target painted on his back.
Looks like I have to prepare...
"Anyway, what do you need, friend? Maybe I can help you," said Pang Cai.
Eren then nodded and introduced him to Delia. The pony-tailed girl sheepishly introduced herself, intimidated by Pang Cai’s large, chubby stature.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Delia. And who might you be? Another one of Eren’s babes?"
Eren gave him a smack on the head.
"Oh, hehe are you not?"
"She’s a leader from the Academic Sector. We have chosen to be in alliance with each other," Eren said before any other misunderstanding burst forth.
"Oooooh," Pang Cai said, surprised. "You have been making moves, Eren. The Academic Sector examinees are quite a big deal quite recently. Many have been trying to recruit them or ally with them.
As you may have figured out, most of the Territories here in the Second Test require more than brute force. They need a lot of skill as well—skills that only people like the Academic Sector have trained to do for years.
Don’t even get me started on Array Formation materials. They’re selling like hotcakes! I have my goons searching for them in the different territories near 24/7."
Eren nodded. "As a matter of fact, that’s what we’re here for."
With a nod, Delia knew that it was her time to say something. "I would like to purchase 20 kilograms of Berrymud Branch, 10 sacks of Cloudless Ink, 40 pieces of Feathery Mulweres..."
She began to list out the materials she needed to construct the Array Formations.
And hearing this, Pang Cai couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows in shock. "20 kilograms? Not 20 grams? Not 20 pieces? And you do know that a sack of Cloudless Ink costs 10 sunspores each right? And Featherey Mulweres are not that easy to find as well!"
Eren gave Pang Cai a stern look. "Do you have the items or not? We didn’t ask just so that we could window shop."
Pang Cai took a second of pause, before giving them a price. "2105 sunspores in total."
It was at this point that Eren turned around, pulling Delia with him away from Pang Cia’s stall.
"Wait a minute! Don’t you know that those things are hard to come by? Every group has been buying them in droves!"
Eren looked back at him. "1800 sunspores."
Pang Cai looked like he had a heart attack when he heard that. "You’re killing me, Eren! 2050."
"2000. Take it or leave it."
The Scion of the Cai family, known for his scrupulousness when it came to business, ended up surrendering to Eren’s bargaining tactics.
"Fine. But this is a gesture of good will from me, you must remember it, Eren," said Pang Cai.
Hmph. Eren inwardly scoffed. He knew I was going to lower the price even beforehand. He just wants to build a much deeper sense of gratitude from me to him because he’s curious as to how I’m getting all of those sunspores.
They exchanged sunspores for the materials from Pang Cai’s goons. Once that was done, they went back to their camp carrying large sacks on their backs.
And once they returned to their camp, Delia immediately began to distribute the materials to her group members.
"Two of you, you deal with processing the Feathery Mulweres. And you, help me with the Cloudless Ink..."
She was efficient when it came to this kind of thing. From this, it was evident why she was chosen to be the leader of her group. Eren thought that she would have fit in well with the scholars of Immor?.
