Chapter 1609 -75: The Friendship Boat

Compared to Divine Emperor, Su Xiao’s friend Crazy Fox isn’t as official, and he sent a bunch of emails too.

‘Bai Ye, are you a devil? I feel like Matcha might bite me at any moment.’

‘Hey, where are you?’

‘Matcha and my boss are looking at me more and more strangely. Don’t keep us hanging; if you do, we’ll block you at your jewelry shop.’

‘Bro, is our friendship so fragile? Give me a reply.’

…

Compared to Divine Emperor’s email, Crazy Fox is more candid as their private friendship is pretty good.

Su Xiao didn’t reply to Divine Emperor’s email but chose to respond to Crazy Fox, stating:

‘I only informed you, I’m a bit busy for now, but by tomorrow at the latest.’

Just as Su Xiao sent his reply, at the God Emperor Adventure Group Headquarters, inside a modern living room.

“Don’t bite me, are you a dog?”

Crazy Fox shook his arm, with Matcha, the head healer of God Emperor Adventure Group, hanging on to him.

“I don’t care, I want to be an Ascension Healer, keep contacting him!”

Matcha bit down hard on Crazy Fox’s arm, her face full of determination.

“He replied.”

Crazy Fox’s words uplifted the spirits of an old man with a goatee and Matcha.

“What did he say?”

Matcha clenched her fists tightly, indicating she’d punch Crazy Fox if Su Xiao replied with bad news.

“He only informed us, by tomorrow at the latest.”

“Nice.”

Matcha beamed, showing her little canine teeth, evident from the bite marks on Crazy Fox’s arm that she’s quite strong.

“He only informed us…”

The old man with the goatee pondered briefly and finally sighed, realizing this situation wasn’t ideal for bargaining. The other party showed integrity, even if they kept them hanging, since no other buyers had been contacted.

“Tell the boss to be ready to shell out.”

The old man laughed, both bitterly and contentedly; managing the finances for the God Emperor Adventure Group meant they’d take a hit, but it was worth it.

While the God Emperor Adventure Group was preparing resources to purchase the Ascension Set, Su Xiao had already left his exclusive room heading to a secluded area in Reincarnation Paradise.

Inside Reed’s forging workshop, Su Xiao held a can of ice-cold beer while Reed was sweating at the forging furnace, repairing Su Xiao’s equipment.

He waited for an hour, after which Reed completed the repairs; the battered Night of Wild Hunt was restored, and with that, Reed took a sip from his chilled beer, gulping it down.

“Reed, I’ve got something to ask you.”

“What is it?”

Reed wiped the sweat off his face, turning to look at Su Xiao.

“The specific use of the Equipment Decomposition/Reshaping/Synthesis machine.”

“You’ve obtained the authority?”

Reed looked intently at Su Xiao.

“Yes, for 30 minutes.”

“30 minutes isn’t much but it’s enough to synthesize one or two pieces of equipment. My suggestion is to ignore decomposition and reshaping functions, and use three to five pieces of the same grade for synthesis, or gather a hundred low-grade pieces for a big gamble. Trust me, if your luck is good, you might synthesize equipment of ‘that’ grade.”

Reed paused, seemingly avoiding triggering some kind of penalty mechanism.

“Epic level?”

“You’ve come across it?”

“Of course.”

Su Xiao drew Dragon Slash from his waist; Reed took several steps forward and pressed his finger against its blade.

“Impressive, you’re still Fourth Tier, huh?”

“Thanks for your advice. I’ll leave these with you for now.”

Su Xiao handed over 31 Legendary Honors; as partners, Su Xiao stored them with Reed. If Reed wanted to use them, he could; when Su Xiao needed them, Reed would pull out all the stops to gather the required Legendary Honors for Su Xiao.

Long-term collaboration doesn’t only benefit one side. For example, every time Reed repaired Su Xiao’s equipment for free, it saved him tens of thousands of Paradise coins, which adds up over time. The deposited Legendary Honors are practically nothing.

A total of 31 Legendary Honors in the bag, Reed, though not overly excited, was happy. He invited Su Xiao to dinner, but Su Xiao had other things to attend to, so he politely declined.

“Take the beer along, it’s my ‘brew’.”

After Su Xiao left, Reed was alone in the forging workshop, seemingly pondering something.

Su Xiao stepped out of the forging workshop and emptied the beer can he held, leaving just the aluminum can. He examined the exterior and finding nothing unusual, he tore the can open with his bare hands.

Inside the bottom of the can, there was a small string of text.

‘A Sixth-Tier Contractor is checking up on you. It seems like an accidental inquiry but holds malicious intent.’

Kaka kaka…

The can was crushed by Su Xiao into a ball. He wondered about it, as he had not offended any Sixth-Tier Contractors from First Tier to Fourth Tier. Is someone seeking vengeance?

Even from a vendetta perspective, it’s unlikely. Su Xiao’s way of handling things is to either spare everyone or leave no witnesses.

Currently, his only enemies are the Blood Gate Adventure Group. If those Sixth-Tier Contractors indeed harbor ill intent, it might be related to Stan. Has Stan become aware of his rapid growth in strength? Perhaps he’s looking to solve the problem once and for all by hiring Sixth-Tier Contractors at a high price?

Given Stan’s ruthless decisiveness, this is not impossible but highly likely. That guy won’t let enemies grow unchecked; hiring Sixth-Tier Contractors would be a standard measure once pressed.

After failing to reach a conclusion, Su Xiao temporarily set the matter aside. What he needed was an opportunity to crush the Blood Gate Adventure Group into doubting their very existence. After the Awakening of the Blade, Su Xiao wouldn’t be intimidated even by Stan himself; he now stood in the top tier of Fourth Tier.

While Su Xiao was idling in Reincarnation Paradise, news came from Bubu Wang and Bennie that the Embrace of Death had been sold; the conditions for its use were so restrictive that it fetched only 720,000 Paradise coins. For a Legendary Skill Scroll, this isn’t high, but it’s within Su Xiao’s expectations.

The “Seductive Scent Tattoo” didn’t sell, and Su Xiao couldn’t figure out its use. Is it to deal with female foes? To confuse them until they’re groggy and then finish them off?

In the Derivative World where life hangs by a thread, Su Xiao wasn’t interested in getting involved with those tough women. Any female strong enough to be Su Xiao’s enemy might laugh with him one moment and stab him in the neck the next.

With a hefty sum of Paradise coins in hand, Su Xiao headed straight to the Equipment Enhancement Hall to reinforce Dragon Slash again.

At the Enhancement Hall entrance, Contractors entered and exited frequently, showing varied expressions. Some looked dejected, as if mourning, while others were proud and confident. Su Xiao had last reinforced Dragon Slash to +13 and decided not to visit soon, but he found himself here again nonetheless.
