Chapter 1592: Hand It Over
Chapter 1592 -58: Hand It Over
White Forest, the original site of Misty Fortress.
In its early days, Misty Fortress was not built on the mountainside, but rather on the outer edge of the White Forest. A certain generation of the Mo Yi Family’s head relocated Misty Fortress to the inner side of the White Forest, building it halfway up a dead volcano.
The forest surrounding the original site of Misty Fortress is deathly silent, with a white mist containing traces of toxins drifting about, making it no longer suitable for habitation.
In the hazy mist, one can vaguely see a dilapidated ancient castle. The damp and cold environment gives it a ghastly aura.
Dong!
A loud noise echoed from within the ancient castle, shattering the surrounding serenity.
Within the labyrinthine ancient castle, a man and two women were briskly fleeing through a narrow hallway, their heavy breathing indicating they were already somewhat exhausted.
“Neil, I can’t keep going. You guys run ahead without me.”
The young girl in the trio collapsed onto the ground, clutching one hand to her chest, sweat plastering her short hair to her face.
“Lan, what foolishness are you talking about? How could we leave you behind?”
The red-haired boy in the team quickly stepped forward, helping the collapsed girl to her feet.
“I’ve told you, abandoning me is the only way you’ll survive. That old witch won’t give up.”
“No way, we’ll escape together.”
“They’re closing in again.”
Another timid-looking girl growled softly. She was the red-haired boy’s sister. One could say this red-haired boy was quite fortunate in life; of the two girls, one was his sister, the other his childhood friend.
The sound of chaotic footsteps emanated from behind them, the scratching sound of claws clearly audible against the floor.
“Damn it!”
The short-haired girl struggled to stand, the debris from the floor levitating around them, shooting down the corridor, followed by a low growl as several wounded synthetic beasts charged in.
The red-haired boy’s face showed despair as he subconsciously glanced at the blue-black crystal in his hand, hesitating whether to relinquish the object. His sister had ventured deep into the Demon Kiln to retrieve it.
Boom, boom, boom…
Debris scattered as a humanoid synthetic beast crashed through the wall, its body muscular, its face still showing stitches.
“Are you kidding? Even a fourth-stage synthetic beast is pursuing us.”
“What do we do, what do we do.”
The timid girl was extremely anxious, but against a fourth-stage synthetic beast, she wouldn’t even be a snack.
“Escape underground.”
The short-haired girl Lan shouted, the red-haired boy paused for a moment, then swiftly grasped the situation.
The red-haired boy tightened his grip on the short rod, gold patterns climbed onto his face, noticeably boosting his aura.
With a thunderous crash, the red-haired boy shattered the corridor floor, and amidst the debris, the trio fell downward. Escaping into the ancient castle was a desperate measure; being within the White Forest, they would have been overtaken by the endless swarm of synthetic beasts.
The red-haired boy and the others had just landed in a large pit below when the humanoid synthetic beast charged in.
“Roar!!”
The synthetic beast was obviously furious beyond restraint. Just then, a gaunt figure emerged from the corridor shadows, her hair gray, though elderly, her aura was sharp, giving an eerie sensation; from her somewhat masculine features, one might even believe she was a man.
“Strange.”
The old witch gazed at the pit before her. As a Fifth Stage Elemental Witch, capturing a few petty thieves should have been a cinch, but for some reason, just when she was about to succeed, unforeseen interruptions occurred.
“The delay is too long; the master will be dissatisfied. The game ends here.”
The old witch’s hand glowed blue, a long-handled trident appeared in her grasp, wind elements swirling.
The old witch gracefully leaped into the pit, disappearing instantly upon landing.
Boom, boom, boom…
Debris collapsed, dust flew, the three individuals in the underground tunnel shielded their heads, sensing a beast pursuing from behind, tensions escalating to a critical point.
A fragment enveloped in wind elements pierced the air, creating waves of air.
With a thud, the fragment struck the short-haired girl’s back, causing a visible dent in her spine as she fell heavily.
Girl Lan fell to the ground, the red-haired boy and the timid girl couldn’t disregard her, so the red-haired boy had no choice but to carry her on his back, continuing to flee.
A gust of wind swept through, dispersing the surrounding dust.
“It’s been a while since I’ve moved; a bit of exercise is nice, though I didn’t expect to go all out.”
The old witch stepped forward, her trident scraping the wall, leaving deep scratches.
By this point, the red-haired boy and the others had fled a short distance, plunging him into complete despair; behind him was a Fifth Stage Witch along with a mass of synthetic beasts, ahead lay the unknown end of the underground tunnel, and worse yet, the short-haired girl on his back was coughing up blood.
Just then, amidst their desperate sprint, the red-haired boy heard a peculiar sound overhead.
Zheng, zheng, zheng…
Blade-like energy pierced through the wall above, the red-haired boy halting abruptly, realizing if hit by these energy blades, he would surely die, his body shredded.
Debris cascaded from the ceiling, with a shadowy figure dropping down, black robes fluttering.
“This time… what now.”
The red-haired boy spoke tremulously, retreating a few steps, as the old witch emerged from behind.
Surrounded, unable to escape, the sister of the red-haired boy whimpered, slumping to the ground, sinking into complete despair.
“Something seems off.”
The red-haired boy gazed forward with the aid of faint light, initially stunned before his expression turned to ecstatic!
“Are you the witch hunter of Aoshan Kingdom?”
The boy seemed incredulous, yet within his heart arose a profound sense of fortune; behind him lay the witch, hence the arrival of a witch hunter, though unsure of their prowess, meant a welcome ally.
Hearing the boy’s voice, Su Xiao dusted his shoulder off. He recognized the boy; indeed, the ‘Fake Protagonist’ he’d encountered before, shielded by World’s Power.
“Yes, we’re under attack by the witch.”
The boy pointed to the old witch behind, whose face turned somber. She had wasted considerable time capturing these three small mice.
“The thing you hold is impressive, hand it over.”
Su Xiao spoke, the red-haired boy visibly stunned.
“Aren’t you a witch hunter?”
“…”
Su Xiao cleaved with his long knife, creating a near 10-meter slash mark on the side wall.
“Give it here, or you’ll be cut down now.”
Face with this ultimatum, the boy’s sister nearly burst into tears, muttering ‘I guess witch hunters aren’t good people either,’ and similar sentiments.
“Little mice, give me the thing, and I’ll spare your little lives.”
The old witch spoke sinisterly from behind, aware of Su Xiao’s intimidating presence.
“You…”
The boy hesitated, glancing around, finally tossing the black-blue crystal into the air.
With a boom, the ground beneath Su Xiao cracked; before the red-haired boy had even reacted, the black crystal had vanished.
Thud, thud, zheng!
Two dull thuds mingled with a slicing sound, as a shadow collided at high speed into the nearby wall.
Su Xiao landed, clutching the Mo Yi Family’s heirloom.
