Chapter 1471: Bardmon City Part 1
Chapter 1471: Bardmon City Part 1
Edgar’s face darkened when he approached the windows and spotted numerous high-end NPCs rushing to the city’s gate.
"Just what in the world is going on?" He hissed coldly.
How come there was no information whatsoever?
What was their intel network doing?
Were they all sleeping on the job or slacking off?
"Quickly send people to investigate the matter!" Edgar shouted furiously. He had tried to prevent any possibility of the Vanguard Guild harming Bardmon City, but what could he do now?
The NPCs were literally welcoming the Vanguard Guild Leader with wide open arms.
There was no way he could go against the NPCs.
While Edgar and the rest of Razor Nightmare got to work to investigate the situation, outside the gate, Xu Feng was being warmly greeted by the authorities in charge of Bardmon City.
"Welcome to our humble City, Viscount Lin Feng." A servant, Jameson, who served the City Magistrate, approached him and smiled amiably.
Although it was the court order, they knew Xu Feng was going to have full authority within Bardmon City.
Not to mention, this was clearly not a verdict for a criminal, but one for a meritorious noble.
As long as Xu Feng did well in repelling the Colossuses, he would practically soar in influence and power.
Thus, the City Magistrate had long ordered everyone to be prepared to serve Xu Feng like a king.
At the very least, if there was any failure, Xu Feng wouldn’t be able to skirt responsibility and claim that they didn’t follow his orders.
"Everyone’s too polite." Xu Feng reciprocated their friendly and warm greetings.
Even though he knew how superficial it was, one shouldn’t slap a smiling face, right?
Moreover, he doubted that they would try any sneaky play, which would only infuriate the person behind the order.
Judge Olivia was not someone anyone wanted to be messing with.
Not even the dukes or the emperor himself would offend her for no good reason.
While he greeted everyone patiently, Xu Feng spotted a few rats spying.
’Oh, Edgar, I bet you’re surprised by my presence, right?’ He sneered inwardly.
A few minutes later, Xu Feng arrived at the City Hall and was quickly handed a stack of papers.
"What are all these?" He raised an eyebrow and asked Jameson.
"Oh, these are all the details and intel we’ve gathered so far regarding the Colossuses’ army movements," Jameson explained. Aside from these, there were also miscellaneous details revolving around the city.
"Haha..." Xu Feng laughed awkwardly as he came to a realization of their tactic.
This wasn’t really considered a sly trick because it was indeed real information. But the problem was that there were too many to browse through.
It was clearly designed to overload and overwhelm him completely.
’These NPCs are indeed no different than the real world.’
In the real world, when a court ordered the defendant’s side to give all their information to the prosecution side, the defendants would usually swarm the prosecutors with overwhelming information.
The intent behind it was to cover the actual ones that required concealing, but couldn’t be hidden anymore.
"Do you require more information, Viscount Lin Feng?" Jameson kept a bright smile on his face as he offered to give even more if the present ones weren’t enough.
"That’s alright." Xu Feng raised his hand and stopped him. "I’ll browse through them later on before heading to the military base."
"I understand. Then I shall excuse myself."
"Ah, wait a second."
Just before Jameson could leave the room, he halted the former.
"How many Immortal Guilds are stationed in Bardmon City?" Xu Feng asked. He was naturally not going to give Edgar any breathing room. But again, he couldn’t make it obvious that he was targeting them specifically.
’There are bound to be many guilds that have been suppressed by Razor Nightmare. As long as I give them good enough benefits to turn side, I wonder how much pressure Edgar can endure.’
Xu Feng refused to believe Edgar was really that kind of horny man to do all this just for that trivial incident at the film festival.
The latter was definitely after something, but he just couldn’t figure it out yet.
They had concealed their tracks too cleanly.
And it was at this moment that Xu Feng had hoped Edgar could just be another foolish heir like Tyler.
How much easier it would be if they were Tyler.
Ignorant, impulsive, and a clown all around.
With great power comes great responsibility, but in Tyler’s position, it was with great power comes great stupidity.
Although Jameson was slightly taken aback by the question, he still managed to answer it.
"There are about 53 guilds operated by the Immortals. Half of them are quite insignificant in numbers, with the other half contributing quite a lot to the city. Then there are about 5 guilds who performed exceptionally and earned a high noble status."
"What are the names of those 5 guilds that earned a high noble status?"
"They are the Iron Guild, Blue Wolves, Silver Crew, Red Banner, and Razor Nightmare."
Xu Feng’s brows furrowed when he heard the guild names. One particular guild caught his attention specifically.
’Blue Wolves... they’re a small guild with low member count, but they managed to earn a high noble status.’ If memories served him right, there was a big incident involving Blue Wolves and Razor Nightmare in the past timeline.
Unfortunately, in-depth details of the situation were buried, and only the outcome was decided.
Blue Wolves disbanded, its members scattering elsewhere and ending up making a name for themselves.
As for Razor Nightmare, they might have won, but had lost quite a bit of influence and authority.
After all, some of the scattered members still occasionally disrupted their business, but not to an extent that would trigger a global manhunt.
The cons overshadowed the pros, so Razor Nightmare could only grit their teeth and accept this kind of disruption from time to time.
"Call in the representatives of Blue Wolves over here." Xu Feng instructed.
