Chapter 1470: The Retaliation Part 21
Chapter 1470: The Retaliation Part 21
Bardmon City
Razor Nightmare’s Guild Residence
"Hehe, Guild Leader, we have managed to convince the Super Guilds to a cease-fire, and have an additional 6 of them to join us." An Assassin wearing the Razor Nightmare guild emblem said sinisterly.
"Hmph, that sounds about right." A youth snickered coldly.
His two legs were on the table as he glanced at a photo.
The photo was of a masked figure standing at the top of a tower.
"Eclipse Nova... this bastard has been in hiding since the debut of his frightening power. As long as we push the Vanguard Guild hard enough, we can lure him out."
"Young Master is correct. This tactic of using their Honorary Elder as an excuse to attack them was amazing!"
The youth in charge was none other than Edgar Sandoval.
"Hmph, do I really look like an infatuated clown? Carmen was beautiful, alright. But she’s not enough to make me lose my cool." Edgar snorted coldly.
"I’ve only had some interest in her because of her ties with the Vanguard Guild and that so-called Honorary Elder. And if I’m not wrong, the likelihood of Carmen being Lunar Wraith was extremely high." He continued.
Xu Feng was Cool Wind in the Divine World, so for someone like him to be close with Carmen, it was only right that the latter also had a high position.
With such a narrow list, it wasn’t hard to deduce who she might be.
It obviously couldn’t be the Guild Captain because scouts had already said she was online during the film festival.
This was the same for the other Elite Team Captains.
The only one absent at the time was Lunar Wraith.
Of course, Lunar Wraith’s whereabouts had always been kept a secret, so they decided to purposely sabotage to see if they could bait her out.
However, she never showed up once, and only after the film festival was over did she reveal herself.
Coincidence?
Edgar highly doubted there could be such a coincidence.
"Young Master, if we know Carmen’s identity, shouldn’t we expose her to the others?" The henchman inquired.
Alas, what he said instantly caused Edgar to frown as he raised his leg and gave them a fierce kick.
"Expose her for what?" Edgar shouted angrily. "We’re after Eclipse Nova and his secret to power. Why would we want to mess with Carmen?"
Edgar understood the consequences very well if he were to be the one to spread the news.
No matter how discreetly he wanted to leak the news. Once discovered, he was guaranteed to be exiled or lose his position.
After all, he knew Carmen’s identity and background very well.
If he truly touched upon their reverse scale by targeting her, he would have been screwed.
Many of his siblings wouldn’t mind taking over his role at any given time.
"Let me make this clear. You can mess with them, but try not to provoke Carmen." He warned his subordinate.
As long as he didn’t directly target Carmen, all was fair in war and love.
Moreover, he still had the support of the other 6 Super Guilds. Although their influence had waned a bit and was in jeopardy of losing their Super Guild status, Edgar didn’t doubt their ability to still be a threat.
Just like the statement, old ginger was still the spiciest.
"Anyway, we should be careful in the upcoming days. Knowing their petty Guild Leader, I reckoned he had already started his movement against us." Edgar narrowed his eyes in a cold glint.
"Ah, yes." The subordinate nodded and began to report a few suspicious individuals entering the city.
"They’ve definitely entered through disguise, but the weird part is that they walked directly to the NPC headquarters. Our men couldn’t enter because of the restrictions."
"Hmm, that’s indeed weird." Edgar pursed his lips. "Keep a close eye on them and continue to watch the entrance gate. I don’t know why, but I have a gut feeling that the massacre in recent cities has something to do with the Vanguard Guild."
He really couldn’t shake off that feeling. It sounded impossible and even outright far-fetched, but those cities involved the nobles whom he had gone to report to the Vanguard Guild.
He didn’t want to believe they were capable of such deeds, but what if?
If they really could destroy a city in the blink of an eye by using the Colossuses, then wouldn’t their Bardmon City be next?
"YOUNG MASTER!"
Right at this moment, someone suddenly barged into the room, startling Edgar and his subordinate.
Edgar nearly fell off his chair at the sudden entrance.
His face quickly flushed in redness from a mix of anger and humiliation.
"What is the matter with you?" He slammed his palm on the desk and roared.
"There’s been an issue, Young Master." The newcomer ignored the yelling and proceeded to explain the circumstances.
"Outside the cities, NPCs are gathering up to welcome someone."
"SO?" Edgar couldn’t understand the big fuss about NPCs greeting someone else. It wasn’t the first time it had happened anyway.
The newcomer breathed in multiple times before finding his voice.
But still, he choked when he had to relay this news, "T-The person they went out to greet with is the Vanguard Guild Leader, Lin Feng!"
Sure enough, Edgar’s expression changed instantaneously.
He stood up and approached the newcomer, his hand gripping tightly on the newcomer’s collar.
"Who did you say they were greeting again?" His tone dropped to a frighteningly low volume.
The newcomer sweated profusely. He swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he repeated, "V-Vanguard Guild Leader Lin Feng. He’s outside the city, and many NPCs... high-ranked ones went out to greet him."
Given that the court decree in the Aetheria Empire was shocking, the news had yet to spread at all.
Therefore, Edgar was completely caught off guard and remained unaware of what the verdict was.
He had thought the latter was arrested and detained, granted that Xu Feng had remained low-key in his return to Haven Wind Town.
