Chapter 1149: The Final Beacon Shrine
Chapter 1149: The Final Beacon Shrine
A few hours went by, and Xu Feng’s experience bar continued to steadily increase.
He surpassed level 69 and was sitting just at the 69% experience bar before he reached the coveted level 70.
Double 69...
Now that was a number you don’t get to see every day!
"Burope!" Burpe suddenly exclaimed, almost as if it could sense its Master was having some naughty thoughts. Thus, it shouted to snap him out of the thought process.
"Ahem," Xu Feng cleared his throat and faked a cough.
"Aren’t you a bit too perceptive, Burpe?" He asked with a bittersweet smile.
"Burope~" Burpe felt proud and raised its liquid-like chest forward.
Shaking his head in defeat, Xu Feng couldn’t believe he got caught thinking something naughty. It was actually a first when he suddenly held some naughty thoughts, and he got caught almost immediately.
What an embarrassment!
No, what a disgrace!
He managed to conceal his true emotions so well from others. But in front of Burpe, he seemed to be exposed.
"Anyway, the monsters are dwindling again." Xu Feng changed the topic and glanced at the sensor in the control room. There were barely any noticeable red dots approaching their warship once again.
He reckoned the phenomenon was related to the Abyssal Eye in some ways.
After all, it was definitely possible for the Eye to migrate the remaining few corrupted sea monsters to gather up at the last beacon shrine.
Since it was the final defense, the Abyssal Eye knew exactly where to wait for him.
Previously, it was 50/50 between the two remaining beacon shrines, so the forces must have been split.
Although Xu Feng found it to be a great pity that he couldn’t reach level 70, he was honestly satisfied with the result already.
Not many could soar their levels at such tremendous speed.
"Shall we head to the final beacon?" He turned his attention to Burpe and asked.
"Burope!" Burpe saluted and was about to control the hydro cannon, seemingly ready to blast more enemies.
"Not this time, Burpe." Xu Feng chuckled and explained. "The enemies awaiting us are too difficult, so we’ll need to change up our playstyle. From aggressive to stealth. We’re going to get in and get out without the enemies ever knowing we were there."
"Burop..." A sound of disappointment could be discerned from Burpe’s tone. It was clear that it had been addicted to firing the hydro cannons without any qualms.
It was the equivalent of a child finding love with a toy, only to have the toy snatch it away from them.
The disappointment was immeasurable, and their day was bound to be ruined.
Thankfully, Burpe appeared to be understandable and snapped out of the disappointment quite quickly.
It is reckoned that playing stealth with the Master could be considered a new experience.
Its body quickly turned translucent, and its presence was almost masking a similar vibe to the Phantasm Sea. If it weren’t for the fact that Xu Feng was staring directly at Burpe, then he wouldn’t have discovered him one bit.
"Why do I feel like the Superior Scale I have is a downgrade from your ability?"
Xu Feng teased and glanced at the scale in his hand.
"Burope!!" Burpe placed its liquid-like hands on its hips and raised its head up.
Seeing its boasting behavior, Xu Feng didn’t get offended. After all, it was just playful banter between the two of them to pass the time.
The sea journey was truly one lonely environment that dampened one’s mentality consistently if silence consumed the scene.
Sometime later, Xu Feng stored the warship and began swimming underwater alongside Burpe. With the Superior Scale active, the curse effect was temporarily blocked.
For 30 minutes, he would be completely invisible unless he made some aggressive moves.
After 30 minutes, he would have another 1 hour time limit where his presence was mostly masked. But once he got close to any of the monsters, he could be sensed.
He didn’t even bother speaking to Burpe and only used hand signs to communicate with the latter, afraid that his voice could be heard.
As they entered the dark region, Xu Feng could instantly feel that the oppression was heavier than usual.
’The Abyssal Eye is really pulling all the strings to prevent this activation.’ He smiled bitterly.
With the number of monsters scattered across, followed by the gloomy atmosphere, just swimming here was suffocating.
While Xu Feng struggled to wiggle his way around and slip through the small cracks of the opening, his eyes suddenly twitched.
’This is so unfair...’ He saw Burpe casually just swimming in front of a monster, sticking their tongue out. Yet the monster remained unaware of Burpe’s presence and continued to look past him.
Burpe was having the time of his life, whereas Xu Feng was having the worst time.
Burpe could bypass the monster’s physical body, but Xu Feng couldn’t.
He might not be detectable, but these monsters could still feel being touched by some foreign object. If it weren’t for that, then Xu Feng would have long swum rapidly.
After all, the ripple caused by the swimming also left some effect.
As if that wasn’t enough, Burpe went on to tease him by purposely showing up in front and urging him to hurry up.
’Ugh, why can’t I receive that kind of ability?’ Xu Feng sighed inwardly.
And just like that, he spent around 40 minutes slipping through the cracks and arrived at the final beacon shrine. By now, his stamina was extremely low, and he felt like his legs were about to give in.
Nevertheless, he had finally arrived at the beacon shrine! His eyes inspected the large shrine, and its decoration of numerous Sirens’ statues was visible.
One of them also happened to be someone Xu Feng recognized: Siren Bea.
"That’s my former Master," Burpe suddenly said, pointing at Bea’s statue.
Startled, Xu Feng glanced at him.
"You’re able to talk now?" He asked in a dazed tone. Unlike the previous talk, this time, it was actually Burpe and not Raiza.
"Mhmm, Master. I feel the power surging forth from me, enabling me to be capable of speech again." Burpe smiled lightly.
"I can feel their calling to us. Please follow me, Master." He continued and began to dash away, giving Xu Feng zero time to ponder.
