Chapter 1076: Activation of Beacon
Chapter 1076: Activation of Beacon
As soon as Xu Feng went to the topic regarding the activation of the beacon, the atmosphere quickly went deathly silent.
Even the talkative Siren’s remnants glanced at each other with a difficult expression on their face.
Needless to say, the activation was a major event that required extensive and careful thoughtfulness. Or at least that was what the Siren’s remnants believed.
’Sirens, please, how are you so incompetent?’ Xu Feng nearly wanted to lash out and relay what Arthur had spoken. The true enemy was alerted by now, so if they refused to activate, that was just asking to wait for death to come.
He was not crazy enough to join the ranks of such ridiculous people if they made such an action.
Thankfully, after a while, the collective Siren’s remnants nodded their heads in agreement.
"Given the circumstances, it would be foolish and quite useless to test you. We shall grant you the right to activate the beacon." One of them declared.
And before Xu Feng could even make any response, he was quickly overwhelmed by a large amount of mana that sent him to another section.
Standing in front of him was a beacon in the shape of a heart.
Without much thinking, Xu Feng reckoned the heart was the image of the Sea Heart. Crystalized and beaming with power, even if it was a mere replica.
As he approached the beacon, he was swiftly greeted with a system prompt.
System Notification: By triggering the Abyssal Tide Beacon, major changes will occur in the Phantasm Sea. The monsters will increase in level, and the difficulty will soar. In return, there will be a greater drop rate and experience points. All debuffs would be nullified in the presence of the Phantasm Sea. Are you sure you wish to activate the beacon?
Upon reading the prompt, Xu Feng’s eyes widened in disbelief. Although the difficulty increase was a given, the nullification of his debuff came as a surprise.
’Just how much more level will I gain?’ He couldn’t even imagine receiving the full experience points rather than the subtracted version after the debuff due to his hidden class, Origin Cleric.𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Without any hesitation, Xu Feng pressed yes. This time, the system prompt appeared again to ask if he was sure of the decision. It was like a double security measurement just in case the player accidentally pressed yes and didn’t mean to proceed with it.
Unfortunately, Xu Feng didn’t misclick or anything. He once again confirmed his decision.
THUMP!
As soon as he activated the beacon, Xu Feng felt the tremor in the ground.
The tremor started off slow before it gradually rose in tempo. In a matter of seconds, a large beam of light shot forth into the sky, piercing through the ceiling and the seawater.
"The beacon has finally activated after being dormant for so long." Glancing at the majestic light, Arthur became emotional while staying outside the beacon shrine.
"Are we going to be able to venture outside soon, Elder Arthur?" Coming from behind, Joy asked curiously. Her eyes locked on the welcoming and warming light. She felt energetic and powerful just by being near its presence.
"Yes, Joy. The Sea Traveler has begun the cleansing and purification." Arthur nodded his head.
"Burope~"
Suddenly, a voice startled Arthur. Almost immediately, Arthur rushed toward the warship and glanced at the Phantasm Spirit.
"Have you awakened your true memories yet?" Arthur asked.
Burpe, who had just awakened, spotted Arthur and flashed a warm smile.
"It’s good to see you, old friend." Burpe’s temperament seemed to have changed as he acknowledged Arthur and even addressed him as an old friend.
"My power is only recovering, so my consciousness will fall back asleep soon. But I can sense the Sea Traveler’s kind heart is what we need. Please assist him to the best of your ability."
"That is only natural."
"I see one of the beacons has been activated. The Abyssal Eye is probably panicking internally."
"They are definitely panicking." Arthur’s expression turned grim. The process of restoration was never going to be an easy objective. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been forced to wait for the prophesied Sea Traveler.
"Anyway, it’s good to be able to converse with an old friend. But I must apologize." Burpe smiled melancholically. "I must remain asleep to avoid leaking out my presence to the Abyssal Eye."
"I understand," Arthur nodded in understanding. "You’ve sacrificed the most for us, but not many still remember your deed."
"It’s fine that you remember. I don’t really care if anyone remembers me or not as long as the Phantasm Sea can return to its original glory." Burpe glanced around the surroundings one last time before closing his eyes.
As his head lowered, Arthur watched with some bitterness.
’I don’t know if this is our last conversation.’ Arthur emitted some bubbles from his body, clearly feeling depressed.
Soon, Burpe reopened his eyes, but his temperament was no longer the same.
"Where am I?" Burpe tilted their head and gazed around.
"You’re in the hideout of our Phantasm Fish." Arthur snapped out of his depressed state and replied, acting as if he had just met Burpe.
"Ah, where’s the Sea Traveler?" Burpe suddenly recalled Xu Feng and panicked upon not seeing him anywhere. "He didn’t dump me, did he?"
"Of course, not." Arthur chuckled and pointed at a distance with his fin. "Look, isn’t that the Sea Traveler?"
Burpe’s eyes beamed in joy as he turned around and spotted Xu Feng riding a massive bubble.
"Sea Traveler!" Burpe yelped loudly and darted to him.
A bit taken aback, Xu Feng wrapped his arm around Burpe and chuckled in amusement. "You’ve finally woken up after such a long time."
"Hehe, I overused my power earlier."
Xu Feng shook his head and shifted his gaze to Arthur. With a simple nod and no words said, the two seemed to have an understanding that things were only going to get more difficult.
Besides, Xu Feng was more distracted by another system prompt.
System Notification: The activation of the beacon has caused the Phantasm Sea to change. The player needs to evacuate the area. Please accept the relocation process to be transported away temporarily. Be reassured that the player would be transported back once the changes had been completed.
