Reincarnated with the King’s Power
Chapter 318
Edan Eurasia.
The strongest swordsman said to have been the first to reach 9-Star, and an ancestor of Eurasia who had died hundreds of years ago without completing his grand plan.
After explaining that he had spent centuries sealed inside a sword while holding back the Anomaly, Edan studied Simon's face.
“Hmm. You do not believe me?”
“…….”
Simon showed little reaction, and Edan looked genuinely hurt.
“Simon.”
Tatia, standing beside him, called his name.
“My ancestor, you say……. You make it sound easy.”
“…….”
“From the moment you fell, Eurasia became the target of the Empire's pursuit.”
Anger entered Simon's voice.
Edan had seen that expression once before.
It was familiar.
“You were sealed inside a sword and spent hundreds of years fighting the Anomaly's Curses. And for that, I am supposed to respect the man who chose Eurasia's downfall?”
It was the same reaction his old friend, reincarnated as Killian, had shown in the past.
“I will apologize for my choice. Even if it was unavoidable, Eurasia still fell. I will not make excuses for the suffering my descendants endured either.”
“You always take the easy……”
“But you reached this place in the end.”
“You……”
“You even managed to charm a Saintess into coming with you, which was never an option available to me.”
“…….”
Simon was rendered speechless by his ancestor's joke.
Edan was not foolish enough to waste the opening.
“Simon Eurasia. You can complete the grand plan I failed to finish.”
His gaze shifted toward Tatia.
“Tatia de Veritas. I sense Divine Power from you comparable to the Pope's.”
“My ability is lacking.”
“How modest, for one granted the Authorities of Truth and Verity. If my descendant has been rude to you, then as his ancestor, I will apologize in advance for his future offenses as well.”
“You are considerably more cheerful than the historical records suggest. So, what truth do you intend to tell us?”
Unlike Simon, who could not easily sort through his feelings toward Edan, Tatia asked the question without any visible agitation.
What truth had he learned after spending hundreds of years trapped here, facing the Anomaly?
“Even if part of the Anomaly escaped outside, its true body remains inside this sword. Do you know of the Divine Realm?”
“…….”
“From your expressions, you know roughly what it is. It seems you do not know about Lord, however.”
“Lord……?”
“The highest-ranking God who possesses the Authority of Space. This space inside the Magic Sword Adamas serves the same function as the Divine Realm.”
“What……?”
Edan's expression turned bitter at Tatia's confusion.
“As the number of Superhumans at the 9-Star level increased, the laws of the world loosened.”
These were things he had been unable to tell Killian.
Fortunately, it seemed he could finally tell the descendant who had come to him, even if belatedly.
“For someone who follows the Gods, this will be rather shocking.”
The laws of the world and Lord.
The Anomaly and the Monster Lord he had created.
And—
“If you cannot escape from this place, sooner or later you will simply become prey for Lord.”
***
A secret space within the Violet Magic Tower created by Charles Cornelia.
Orchid Owl watched the battlefield being projected in real time beside her and spoke.
“I have no idea what those Imperial bastards are plotting~”
Several months had passed since Cornelia entered the Empire proper in step with Eurasia's advance.
“Even if they are Superhumans, they are still second-rate~ Burning through troops like this violates the basics of warfare.”
True to an Empire that had ruled for a thousand years, elite soldiers led by Superhumans emerged without end, significantly slowing the Kingdom Alliance's advance.
Unlike the Vassal States, whose military strength had clear limits, the Empire continuously fielded new legions.
Sometimes it was the Imperial Knight Order and Imperial Mage Order led by complete Superhumans.
Other days, groups led by incomplete Superhumans appeared.
At night, even Undead legions commanded by Death Knights and Arch Liches took the field.
Against an ordinary kingdom, that alone would already have decided the war.
But the Empire was currently fighting the Kingdom Alliance.
Humans led by a 9-Star knight, an 8-Star mage, and numerous Superhumans dominated the battlefield.
The secretive elves supported them, along with dwarves armed with cannons and heavy equipment.
The Undead could barely exert their strength against figures of High Priest caliber dispatched by the Holy Nation.
And treatment for the wounded was an advantage available only to the Kingdom Alliance.
“What good is raising Undead with imitations of Magic God Stones and restricting the priests' Authorities~ when the commanders themselves keep dying like chaff~?”
Despite her light tone, Orchid Owl had read the battlefield perfectly.
That was also why she was here guarding Charles.
The absence of the Information Guild's leader created a significant hole in their forces, but Charles Cornelia's safety mattered more.
Orchid had accepted the assignment because of a message from one man delivered through Serena Constantine.
‘Killian Eurasia.’
A Superhuman who, until only a few years ago, had served as Eurasia's Extermination Squad Leader.
‘So I definitely remember that we had a master-disciple relationship…….’
She could remember that much.
Everything beyond it was becoming hazy.
At this point, even the relationship itself was beginning to feel doubtful.
“There is no need to doubt it.”
Charles, who until then had ignored Orchid's muttering, spoke in a firm voice.
“Hm?”
“I mean doubting Sir Killian's existence.”
“You can read my thoughts too?”
“Once you enter this place, I cannot avoid it even if I wish to.”
Charles answered calmly.
“Hmmm~”
Orchid Owl hummed.
A Walker whose thoughts were completely exposed.
Under ordinary circumstances, she would never have accepted such a mission regardless of the amount offered.
But—
‘Well, I suppose it does not matter.’
SHHHHH—
Orchid Owl casually savored the violet Mana with which she was synchronized.
Complete Synchronization with the Violet Magic Tower—the thing she, as a member of a collateral branch, had desired for so long.
When she tried through a pendant before, the tower rejected her.
With Charles's permission, however, it had accepted her completely.
“I was told only the direct line could synchronize with it~”
“There was no other choice. If our ancestors had not imposed a restriction that severe, Cornelia's knowledge would have been stolen by others long ago.”
Understanding the Formula was essential to magic.
Even a genius needed an enormous amount of time if forced to begin again from nothing.
That was why Magic Towers had been built across the Continent as repositories of knowledge.
Yet no matter how exceptional a Magic Tower was, an ordinary one merely stored knowledge, and most grimoires it possessed reached only as far as 6-Star.
In the past, even families and kingdoms renowned for magic had relied on Arcane Tomes, early education, and sponsorship from Magic Towers to pass down their knowledge.
Knowledge could be transmitted from generation to generation.
But this method had limits.
Cornelia's ancestors, naturally gifted in magic, recognized that problem early and began preparing a solution for their descendants.
With the help of dwarves they knew, they designed the tower's physical structure.
Then they applied Thought Magic and Concept Magic, engraving a Formula that allowed the physical tower to be dismantled at any time.
It was a system that granted entry only to direct blood descendants.
“Magic Tower Synchronization. That is how Cornelia survived.”
“That damned bloodline~”
Orchid Owl pouted.
Her own ancestors had been denied possibilities merely for belonging to a collateral branch.
“Do not hate our ancestors too much. You surpassed those limits on your own.”
Orchid had become a Night Walker by her own power and had now mastered 7-Star.
With Charles merely permitting her to synchronize with the tower, she could even wield 8-Star power temporarily.
Charles knew.
Someday, Orchid would reach a complete 8-Star.
An 8-Star Night Walker.
That alone would make her one of the most formidable beings on the Continent.
Perhaps then she would finally let go of her obsession with the Violet Magic Tower.
‘No. The Violet Magic Tower may instead become the motivation that drives her toward 9-Star.’
Just as it had for Charles herself.
‘For now, however, we need to concentrate on bringing down the Empire before us.’
The Empire's exploitation had continued for far too long.
It held three Magic Towers, yet still had not revealed its full strength.
‘The blood flowing toward the Red Magic Tower from the battlefield must be feeding a massive Formula.’
Charles wanted to stop it somehow, but the Violet Magic Tower alone could not dismantle a Formula built from three Magic Towers.
The one controlling those towers was the Empire's greatest mage, the man known as the Mixed-Color Duke.
“The key will be how much Queen Ashirian can shorten the Green Magic Tower's adaptation period.”
It had taken somewhat longer than expected, but the project to remodel Divine Tree Wigdrazil into the Green Magic Tower had been completed successfully.
Ashirian was a knight rather than a mage, and her Synchronization with the other elves remained somewhat awkward.
Once she adapted, however, a new wind would sweep across the battlefield.
Until then, Charles and the other pillars of the Kingdom Alliance needed to advance as far as possible toward the Imperial Castle.
This Great War would end only when the Emperor was slain.
“Do not worry~ I will protect you, Princess~”
“You need not worry about me, Sir Orchid. I do not die easily.”
“That is reassuring~”
GIGGLE—
Despite her laughter, madness filled Orchid Owl's eyes.
‘I will never let Charles die.’
Charles Cornelia was a mage who had inherited the legacy of Diana Cornelia, called the strongest mage in history.
She valued ability over bloodline.
So long as Orchid remained beside her, the Violet Magic Tower would never cast Orchid aside.
That alone was more than enough reason for Orchid Owl to risk her life protecting Charles.
HEHEHEHE—
Charles avoided Orchid Owl's gaze as the woman chuckled to herself.
‘I knew her obsession with the Violet Magic Tower bordered on madness, but I never expected it to become such a reliable shield for me.’
She wanted to thank the man who had sent Orchid to her.
But he was currently being forgotten by the world.
If he and Charles had not been bound together as successor and guardian of the Magic Tower—
and if the tower itself had not resisted the oblivion with all its strength—
she would have forgotten him long ago.
Even now, he was probably disappearing from people's memories.
‘What are you doing this time?’
The Emperor still had not appeared despite the invasion of the Empire proper.
Killian had disappeared around the same time.
Whatever the reason—
‘I believe in you.’
The weight of destiny he carried was incomparable to her own.
SHHHK—
With a gesture from Charles, a Gate opened somewhere on the battlefield.
Then—
[ROOOOOOAR—]
Hazard descended while releasing Dragon Fear and breathed upon the Imperial soldiers.
Hundreds of elite troops vanished beneath the Mixed Dragon's Breath.
Cornelia's forces seized the opening and captured an entire fortress in a single assault.
“Whew~ No wonder they call you the Mother of Dragons.”
Orchid Owl gave her assessment from where she watched.
By opening Gates at exactly the right places and moving Hazard around the battlefield, Charles had reduced countless casualties.
If the Empire fell, no one in Cornelia would have contributed more to the victory than Charles.
She did not seem to care in the slightest.
“Two months.”
“Hm?”
“We will enter the Imperial Castle within that time.”
“Hmmm~ Are you not pushing too hard?”
“If we do not push ourselves, people will forget him even more.”
Charles did not know how long the Violet Magic Tower could preserve its memories of Killian.
She could not tolerate Killian Eurasia being forgotten any more than she could tolerate whatever scheme the enemy was preparing.
Therefore—
“From now on, I will need you to move as well.”
At the firmness in Charles's gaze, Orchid Owl gave a strange laugh.
“If that is the Princess's will, gladly.”
