Chapter 1863: Enjoying Time Together

“Let’s go eat something at a café. I’m kind of hungry right now! How about it?” Celica asked.

“Celica… you’re so nice in comparison, like an angel…” Aquarina smiled, patting Celica’s fluffy hair. “Of course! Sylphy, shall we go?”

“Sure, anything you want, my love,” I said, holding her hand. “Today is your day! I’ll spoil you. Don’t worry about expenses or anything—this princess will buy whatever her cute wife wants!”

“Sylphyyyy!” Aquarina cried, hugging me and kissing my lips again. “I love youuuu!”

“I love you too…” I smiled.

“…”

In the midst of all this, I completely forgot about Ruby. She was so quiet, standing behind Celica and Celeste, that I hadn’t even noticed she was there.

“Ah! Right, right! Ruby! Ruby, please come here, okay?”

“…Okay.”

She stepped forward as Aquarina raised her eyebrows, surprised—and clearly sensing her aura.

“This is Ruby! She’s the Hero of Blazing Hammer,” I explained. “I found her here. She had been… going through a lot, but we took her in a year ago, and she’s been improving a lot since then.”

“Oh wow, I didn’t expect you to be the Hero of Blazing Hammer! I thought it’d be some burly dwarf guy or something, haha!” Aquarina giggled. “Nice to meetcha! I’m Aquarina. I bet Sylphy’s already told you about me. I’m also a Hero—or, well, chosen to be one…”

“Y-Yeah…” Ruby was quite shy around strangers. “Nice to meet you, hah… Hahah…”

“I can feel you’re holding a pretty strong aura… How strong are you?” Aquarina asked. “You’re Fire Element, my total opposite… I kind of want to see how strong—”

“Aquarina, don’t pick fights! She’s still training…” I sighed, patting her arm. “Leave her be, okay?”

“Uh? Okay, sorry…” Aquarina nodded, apologizing. “So, Ruby huh? You’re pretty cute. I love your blonde hair.”

“E-Eh? Really?” Ruby blushed slightly.

“Yeah, and the pink tint—is it natural or…?” Aquarina asked.

“Nah, I have brown hair. I dyed it,” Ruby replied with a smile, relaxing a little. “I also like doing my makeup and nails… Um, do you think they’re cute?”

“Oh, you’ve got such fancy nails! They’re so long and painted—nice! As a fighter, I can’t afford that, hahah…” Aquarina giggled. “You’re a really stylish girl! Wait, are you a demon?”

“Yeah, I’m… half,” Ruby said. “My mom was a Red Oni, and my dad’s… a dwarf.”

“Really?! That’s so cool! You’re like Celeste then!” Aquarina said. She was very sociable, which helped Ruby slowly warm up.

“Um, I guess so…” Ruby smiled, flipping her hair. “If you want, I can help you with your nails. They might be a little rough, but I can fix them. I’m pretty good at manicures… pedicures… stuff like that. Stuff dwarves usually hate, haha.”

“Would you really do that for me?! No way—okay then!” Aquarina giggled. “I’ll owe you a big favor after that! Sylphy, where were you hiding this girl? She’s awesome!”

“Haha, right? Ruby’s amazing!” I nodded. “And you haven’t even seen her at work—she’s an incredible blacksmith too!”

“Woah, wait a second… so the Blazing Hammer was for blacksmiths?!” Aquarina asked.

“Yeah…” Ruby nodded. “I’m still a novice, honestly… but I learned from my mom and dad.”

“Awesome!” Aquarina said. “Some of my weapons have cracks. I hope you can help me fix them? I’ll pay you, of course. I’ve also got plenty of rare materials if you want to check them out later.”

“Really? That sounds nice…” Ruby smiled happily. “You’re good at alchemy?”

“Yeah, I’ve been doing some back where I was,” Aquarina nodded. “Aaah, sorry Sylphy—did I get too distracted?”

“Nope, it’s alright! I’m glad you two got along!” I giggled. “Alright! Dad! Shall we go eat something with everyone?”

“Ah, sure, dear!” he called from afar as we regrouped with our parents and master. “Also, I just heard your mother’s coming next week!”

“Really? Here?!” I asked. “Nice! But what about Zack’s group?”

“No news about them…” my father sighed. “Sorry about that. They’re probably still busy.”

“Ah, it’s fine,” I nodded. “Alright then, let’s go eat something!”

We didn’t waste any time heading to the big city of Evercraft, showing the place to Aquarina, her sister, and her two parents. They were amazed by the views—even though her parents had visited before, seeing everything again after over twenty years left them surprised.

Aquarina, of course, was seeing it all for the first time. She looked around happily, her wide-eyed wonder making her look adorable. As I held her hand, I could feel her heartbeat quicken.

“Wooaah! This place is awesome…” Aquarina said, looking everywhere. “Completely different from where I came from!”

“Really?” I asked. “Well, I’m glad you like it here. It’ll be your home for a while before we all regroup.”

“Nice!” Aquarina said. “So where’s that café you girls mentioned?”

“Over there—it has a chocolate name or something. There!” Celica pointed as we walked toward the café.

And sure enough, it was the place that sold all kinds of chocolate treats: hot cocoa, chocolate cakes, cupcakes, cream puffs, pudding, and more. We found a big table and all sat around it, ordering a bunch of things.

“I want the big one—this!” Aquarina said.

“Oh dear, that one’s for couples only, girl…” said the dwarf waitress, a black-haired woman.

“It’s okay! Sylphy here is my girlfriend… I mean, fiancée? Or wife? Well, in my culture, she’s already my wife,” Aquarina nodded, kissing my lips.

“Heheh, yeah…” I felt a little embarrassed.

“Ohhh, okay then!” laughed the dwarf lady. “Girls these days, hoho…”

Aquarina ordered a big extra-special chocolate and vanilla ice cream banana split to share with me. It was a “Special Lovers Meal” that could only be ordered by couples… a little embarrassing, but sweet.

And it was absolutely delicious. It wasn’t just the ice cream—which was creamy and cold—but also the cookies, chunks of chocolate brownies, bananas, and assorted fruits.

We ended up pigging out together, Aquarina and I, eating like there was no tomorrow!
