“But then when will we have the power for that?!” Aquarina asked, growing restless for some reason. Her scream ended up scaring her friends a little, and her sister, who was spooked, started crying.
“Uwaaaahh! Waaahhh”
“Come on Aquarina, did you had to scream like that?!” Nepheline said angrily, as she began carrying Esmeralda and comforting her. “Be more mindful! You have a little baby sister now.”
“A-Ah…” Aquarina realized she had lost her temper again. “S-Sorry… I just… I’m sorry…”
“Haah…” Aquarina’s father sighed. “Aquarina, I know how you feel, and I share the same sentiment… Evil Gods are still sort of limited in what they can do, so we aren’t completely powerless. Also you’ve grown strong enough to at least become capable of surviving such dangerous events or escape from them. I know you want a solution, I know you want to kill him… but it’s not possible… No mortal has ever killed a god.”
“…” Aquarina remained in silence for a moment. “But what if…”
Suddenly, Sylphy’s face appeared in her mind.
“What if a mortal becomes a god? Can they kill another god then?” Aquarina asked.
“Becoming a god?” Justicio asked.
“Look, even the Divine Aspect we’re cultivating will never turn us into an outright god, alright? It is only giving us more divine power, but to become a god… you would have been born as one, you understand?” Nepheline sighed.
“…” Shade remained in silence; it seemed he thought a bit differently than his wife. “We’re trying to get stronger, to perhaps one day be more prepared to confront an Evil God… Even when we fought Lolth, she still ended up getting away, and that’s when we combined everything we had. But we’re different from back then already, our strength ahs continued to grow… and it will continue doing so for as long as we can live. There’s nothing saying we can’t do it, but there’s also nothing saying we can. Don’t get too troubled over this for now, Aquarina, you’re safe, and your friends are safe as well.”
“The Evil God of Dungeons can’t just appear out of nowhere, he has to have cultists carry his shit and make formations for his influence to spread to a certain destination, otherwise, he can only alter and modify dungeons, and only certain ones,” explained Nepheline. “If he hasn’t done anything to us when we went to visit that one dungeon down there, it probably means his influence over it is very small, or he doesn’t care enough, or maybe he just doesn’t want to waste energy.”
“Whatever the case, take it easy Aquarina, I know your frustrations,” Shade said. “But we can’t hurry things up, and what you’re suggesting is way outside of our own scope. But… I do know that the Elven King has fought Evil Gods before, personally.”
“Eh?!” Aquarina gasped.
“He’s definitely planning something… Yeah,” Nepheline said. “He has been keeping it a secret for some time, but that old man is the only one strong enough and crazy enough to attempt something one day… and once that time comes, we need to be stronger than ever before, to help him out.”
“…” Aquarina realized that things weren’t as hopeless, there were powerful people in the world that had common goals.
To slay Evil Gods themselves, to put an end to this destruction caused by the Evil God of Dungeons, and perhaps to even confront the Chief Gods themselves.
But how far could they ever go either way?
Even then…
Aquarina realized that, as her parents said, it was quite hopeless…
“As long as we’re together, we can do anything, Aquarina!”
However, the voice of Sylphy echoing through her memories said otherwise.
Her parents were wrong.
The world was wrong.
Sylphy’s existence was the proof that what the world believed impossible was indeed possible.
She was a mortal that had already ascended into the first stage of divinity.
“It’s not impossible, mortals can become gods… but they need to be really special,” Aquarina suddenly said, surprising her parents.
“W-What do you mean?” Nepheline asked.
“Heh… Nothing,” Aquarina closed her eyes, as she drank some tea and finished her breakfast. “Alright! Should we get ready to depart then? Sorry about making you cry, Esmeralda, can you forgive me?”
“Muuuh!” Esmeralda looked at Aquarina with a big frown!
“Aw come on, you’re such a temperamental girl…” Aquarina sighed, crossing her arms.
As they saw their daughter playing with her sister, Shade and Nepheline looked at one another in confusion.
For a moment they thought she was referring to someone that had done such a thing as ascend to a god, but that was just utterly impossible.
At the end, they just decided to ignore her words, and believe she was just babbling around as usual.
Aquarina didn’t mind this either way, she didn’t want to reveal what Sylphy had become yet, even more when she was still not even recognized as a proper Goddess yet.
While doing some warmup exercises, Aquarina looked at the faraway Windy Cliffs, her eyes glowing brightly with determination.
“Sylphy’s divinity can grow quickly by absorbing divinity fragments from other beings with divinity, right?” She wondered. “If I offer to her that Ancient Spirit Ant Monster thingy with Divinity, could her Divinity grow stronger from that too?”
As Aquarina thought about that, she began to grow more powerful, her Aura glowing brightly. Her own Faith towards Sylphy, and her desire to make her stronger and spread the word about her also increased her strength over time as her Saintess.
Saints that were devoted to their gods would always grow faster, and their divine blessings would also react much strongly and strengthen them, it was a “Class” that was heavily dependent on their own Faiths after all.
This worked wonderfully for Aquarina, who loved Sylphy a lot, making that an incredibly easy task. As she exercised doing some pushups while carrying some heavy orichalcum pillars in her back, she could feel her growth speed increasing even further… An Aura of Red and Gold encompassed her.
