Chapter 1763: The Gods 6
Chapter 1763: The Gods 6
—–
The Evil God of Dungeons, an antagonistic figure in Aquarina and her girlfriend’s lives since they were born. At the tender age of five, both girls ended up trapped inside a dimensional space of his own creation, where he had cooperated with a giant Demon General, one of the remnants of the previous Demon King’s army, who aimed to kill both girls and eliminate the threat of new heroes from the root.
It was a practice that had been tried before too. Demon Kings and their servants didn’t just sit and wait for heroes to come after them. Since ages ago, they had always planted spies or used their abilities to kill heroes before they could fully mature into threats. However, the previous Demon King had done no such thing, and even less so than the one before him.
This had caused people to lower their guard. As Allan and the rest of his party had not experienced the same thing their children went through, they were caught off guard when it actually happened.
“Death,” as he called himself, was a powerful Lich, an Ascended Undead Sorcerer of incredible power who was also a Necromancer. Although not the same type blessed by Iapetus, he was a Demonic Necromancer, using Wild Magic and dangerous Curses to gain tremendous, cursed powers.
Using such powers, he went to kill Aquarina and Sylphy, aiming for their lives. Both girls did their best to survive, but because they had yet to master any technique and only had their small magic or little spirits to help, they nearly died if not for their blessings’ protections.
In fact, Aquarina could still remember that time when she disintegrated, only to regenerate a second later.
If not for the blessing of the gods, she would have died right there, with Sylphy unable to do a single thing.
Perhaps this was why Aquarina didn’t hate the gods that much. Their blessings, despite coming with responsibilities, had also saved her life, and she couldn’t be too ungrateful about such a thing.
Even though the existence of the blessings was what caused her and Sylphy to be attacked in the first place.
And of course, what Sylphy had gone through there, and the mysterious and strange powers she was born with.
Even when she was torn to shreds, when her parents believed she was dead and desperately tried to heal her corpse back to life, she was, indeed, alive, even as a corpse torn to pieces. It was as if her soul was anchored to her very flesh. Even while torn apart, she wouldn’t die.
This mysterious power was something Aquarina had rarely seen happen, but Sylphy sometimes abused it, such as breaking down her own body to continue exercising without limits or even taking curses, poison, and more, without being affected by them.
Much later, she learned this was because of Sylphy’s “Glitched System.” Her Status couldn’t change. Her stats were frozen, along with her mana and health.
While her frozen mana gave her endless mana as a result, her frozen health created a strange effect. Even though her body wasn’t exactly immune to damage and she could feel great pain and pass out due to it, it was as if she had infinite life.
Even getting beheaded wouldn’t kill her. As long as she could find a way to reassemble herself, Sylphy could continue living and fighting.
But these powers also created a great weakness: her soul. It took on all the burdens her body or mana would normally bear, and overusing these powers could eventually destroy her soul.
Hence why Sylphy didn’t go too far and trained like everyone else, without acting like she was invincible.
But what if Sylphy didn’t have Alice back then?
What if this Demon General had managed to kill her?
Aquarina, even now, sometimes thought about that, making her feel infuriated with herself. This traumatic moment forced her to push herself to such limits and prompted her to grow stronger continuously.
It was thanks to Leviathan’s Sacrifice, the Soul of another Demon General contained within her earrings, and also Ignatius and Naturia, that the girls managed to stall long enough to survive until their parents broke through the dimensional space and reached the Demon General, ending him once and for all.
However, who was the real culprit? This Lich was now dead, and the only things left were small clues: spatial manipulation, pocket dimension creation. There were only a few gods capable of doing this with such mastery and who had reasons to kill them.
And when they saw Dungeon Breaks occurring, True Demons appearing, and the incident involving Celeste in the Duchy of Eastgrain, they quickly learned who their real enemy was.
The Evil God of Dungeons and the other Evil Gods who followed him. He was the leader of perhaps the first-ever “Evil God Pantheon,” commanding who knew how many Evil Gods.
They had used Celeste, giving her power and a sect, all to bring destruction to innocents while using the girl’s past and her traumas as a way to manipulate her.
And when Sylphy finally managed to defeat her, they came after Celeste’s soul in her dreams. Only for Sylphy to miraculously appear there and defend her, using the Curse within her Soul from Furoh to damage one of the two Evil Gods and intimidate them enough to run away, saving Celeste’s soul and life.
“The Evil God of Dungeons… Mom, you know he’s our true enemy, right? Even more than the gods above, who seem like they’re just fooling around most of the time…” Aquarina said. “He won’t give up on us any time soon, he really wants us all dead, and that Gray guy will happily continue cooperating with him if it means he’ll be able to protect his people…”
“I know… but finding Evil Gods is not a power we have. They could be literally anywhere in the world and move instantly anywhere they want,” Nepheline sighed. “We have yet to find the power to defeat him.”
