Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 834 - 834: Manipulated

While Artemisia was busy beating people’s fathers through planets, Evan and the others were having quite a hard time.

The FCDs had been buffed by Faulin’s Celestial King Authority before Artemisia arrived, and that buff would remain as far as Faulin lived.

So was the barrier Faulin had placed around Conroe, something Evan wished Artemisia destroyed before she left.

Conroe was hurrying his power absorption, intending to go and aid his father, but the energy was already being absorbed as fast as possible, so there was not much else he could do but hope his father didn’t die within 10 minutes…which was one hell of a tall order.

The other FCDs were attacking Evan and his companions with increased ferocity.

Hines charged at David, Lorethi engaged Laurene in a battle of mages, Elysandre devoted her all to keeping Kayla away from Evan and Fluviel’s new CelSols helped him and Theron to face the three Deadly Sin Siblings together.

It should also be mentioned that each FCD had the newly summoned CelSols aiding them, so Evan’s side was losing in the numbers department.

For the FCDs, they needed to defeat Evan and his group as fast as possible, so on the very high chance that Faulin lost, they could hold them as hostages against the goddess.

It was a plan that had little chance of success, but with Artemisia now in the game, they had no other options.

The tens of thousands of CelSols the FCDs had prepared for this day were still embroiled in a deep battle against the Tarse army.

A battle with over 100,000 combatants involved was not something that could be resolved in less than an hour, after all.

Surprisingly, the MVP was not Evan or any of the Heroes, but Eliza who single-handedly supported everyone, using Life Energy Draining Prison to suck their life force and converting that life force to ether which she then used to apply buffs and debuffs.

Naturally, the FCDs saw her as a nuisance, but the Spirit Trio of Amy, Milena and Kuro formed a shield around her, protecting her from any attacks and letting her concentrate on support.

As for Evan, the boy was facing off against Glazard, their fight creating explosions of steam that sent white clouds billowing to the sky.

The Unforged Vale and Frostshade clashed so many times that Evan was able to use the Vale Blade’s ability to copy Frostshade’s Weapon Skill.

With this, Evan countered Glazard’s AOE icy wave slashes with equal power, before switching to Mesarthim and burning the one-handed man.

Props to Leviah for severing his arm, as it made things a lot easier for Evan.

It was in this messy battlefield, that something which caught everyone’s attention suddenly happened.

The dome-shaped barrier of celestial energy protecting Conroe shattered abruptly!

“…”

[…]

¬…¬

All sides were paying attention to Conroe, so when they noticed the barrier break, they went silent.

In that moment of silence, the buffs on the FCDs vanished, and half of the CelSols Fluviel summoned disappeared as the celestial lost the power to maintain their summoning.

No words were needed.

Everyone understood what had happened; Heavenly Celestial Faulin had died!

The faces of the FCDs rapidly paled.

If Faulin was dead, then Artemisia was definitely on her way back here. They didn’t know how far away the fight between the two Deities had occurred, but that didn’t mean much with Artemisia’s speed.

The woman could elementalize her body and move at light speed, what’s more, she could also teleport.

A certain person had made sure Artemisia learnt space magic in the past and forced her to be good at it, so the goddess could cross vast distances without much effort.

It was because of this that she was able to silently return to Aidos in a short time, and no one noticed besides Evan who was sensitive to the presences of Higher Existences due to the day’s happenings.

He knew Artemisia had returned and was in Kreah with them, but even he couldn’t tell ‘where’ she was.

On Artemisia’s end, as she returned, the first thing she did was not to look at Conroe who was shocked at his father’s sudden death and was looking around warily for her, but to check for someone else.

‘It’s weird that ‘she’ hasn’t said anything with all this happening. Knowing ‘her’, ‘she’ should have made a few snarky comments or two.’

The ‘person’ Artemisia was looking for, was none other than ‘Aidos’, the consciousness of the Prime World.

She found the silence odd and wanted to find out why the other party was silent.

In that moment she used her divinity to probe the planet, Artemisia looked away from Conroe for a second, and that was why she didn’t see that the time laws surrounding the FCD suddenly distorted, and then flipped.

It was as if Conroe’s ‘Present’ and his ‘Future’ temporarily exchanged places.

Conroe’s face turned blank, and his light-green eyes turned hazel-brown. A stream of similar coloured divinity entered into his body a second after.

Artemisia, on the other hand, noticed that the Consciousness of the planet was in a slumber. This shocked her as ‘Aidos’ would never do this without telling her.

To be precise, ‘Aidos’ could not do such without first informing her, so this meant that this slumber was induced by an external force.

‘Who?!’

¬RAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

Conroe’s sudden scream snapped her attention back to him, seeing the celestial release a burst of power that knocked both ally and enemy away.

His face skin began to crack faintly, with shining light bursting through the cracks. They spread around his body in an instant, before shattering and turning to dust, disappearing in the storm of energy that swirled around him.

‘He has Exuviated!’

Artemisia made this observation and took action in the same instant that a magic circle formed behind Conroe.

It rapidly expanded, with intricate runes and glyphs rotating around which made Evan’s eyes widen in shock as he looked at it.

His shock stemmed from the language that the runes of the Spell Circle were written in.

‘It’s the same as my Mystic Eyes!!’

Evan recognized the language of the runes to be the same Ancient Forgotten Aidosian language the ‘Mimicry’ in his Mystic Eyes was written in, and his Language Comprehension skill allowed him to quickly make out familiar words.

In the heat of the moment, neither Evan nor Aretmisia questioned why Conroe who was NOT Aidosian, was using the planet’s language in his spell casting.

Artemisia’s body materialized into view, her right fist pulled back with golden lightning crackling around it.

Without hesitation, she threw a punch aimed right at the right side of Conroe’s head.

Simultaneously, Eight Rings of light manifested around the magic circle hovering behind Conroe, revealing its Tier and giving more confirmation to Artemisia that Conroe had indeed become a Deity.

Tier 7 and above was Magic only Deities could use, after all.

As such, there should be no qualms with her taking action.

There should be no qualms with her taking action.

There should be no—!?

**CRACKK!!

The fabric of spacetime suddenly fractured open and golden chains burst out at light speed, wrapping around Artemisia’s fist and restraining it.

WHAT?!

The goddess’ shocked True Voice boomed out, carrying powerful law energy that gave everyone migraines just by hearing it.

However, Artemisia couldn’t be bothered about them right now.

How could causality act against her? Conroe was a Deity now, there should be no problem with her attacking him.

She looked up at Conroe as she tried to pull her arms out of the chains of causality, however, unlike the low-level ones that tried to restrain Kayla earlier in the day, these were high-level chains designed to hold down full-powered god Queens like her.

Artemisia was unable to break them off as easily as she wanted.

?!

Not even a moment had passed, and Artemisia received her second-greatest shock of the day. Since her eyes were fixed on Conroe, she noticed it.

She noticed the time laws on the celestial’s body distort, and then return to normal.

Her eyes widened as she realised what had happened.

Left alone, Conroe would have surely exuviated and become a Deity.

That was a ‘Possible Future’, and someone had switched that ‘Possible Future’ with the ‘Present’, making her to see what would have happened in a few more minutes.

She saw and sensed the Deity-level power Conroe would have had, and attacked him based on that observation.

However, this did not change the fact that the ‘Present’ Conroe, was still a Transcendent.

Level 900.

He was still effectively a Mortal.

As such, what Causality saw, was a ‘goddess’ one-sidedly attacking with a strike aimed to kill a ‘Mortal’ whose existence was capable of MAJORLY INFLUENCING the entirety of a World under her domain.

Following the Restrictions placed on the god race after the ‘Reset’ incident of thousands of years ago, it moved to restrain the goddess in question.

More spatial fractures opened and more chains emerged from the void, restraining her other limbs and constraining her movements in an instant.

Artemisia wasn’t surprised by this. She understood how causality worked. The stronger the existence, the greater the force it came with.

She knew how strong she was, and she knew how much power causality would use if it were to act against her.

As such, all her limbs being restrained instead of just the arm she used to attack made perfect sense to her.

But what didn’t make sense was intent she could sense behind it!

Causality was an autonomous law and wasn’t supposed to have any intent behind its actions. Her sensing intent meant that someone was actively manipulating it to restrain her!

Artemisia was confident that everything was going to go the way she wished. There might be a few hiccups on the way, but she was sure that everything would end with her dealing with Faulin and Conroe.

After this, she would leave Evan to handle the aftermath, and move the Holy Kingdom to assist him in clearing everything up. She and Evan had even decided on what story they were going to tell the public as the reason for everything happening here today.

Evan had prepared the news headlines and was ready to send them to his contacts. All of Evan’s efforts in the advent of TVs on Aidos were for him to gain the necessary connections and power which would allow him to be able to manipulate the media anyhow he wanted for situations like this.

He who controlled information, controlled the world; and Evan had put a lot of effort into gaining that control, even losing some time he could have used to gain more levels.

But now, Artemisia realised there was something she had missed.

All the players of the game were on the board.

She, The FCDs, the Heroes, their Companions, the Tarse Army and the Holy Knights.

Now, she realised that all of them had been played by someone else.

The Fallen Celestial Deities had been manipulated by this person. Faulin’s knowledge of the affairs of the Interstellar stage and his guarantee that she wouldn’t be in the Galaxy at this time now made so much sense.

Coming to this realisation, Artemisia’s stoic expression shattered and contorted into one of pure rage for the first time in a millennium.

Gritting her teeth, she muttered a name under her breath, but the sound of her voice didn’t travel far as causality interfered, censoring the word and preventing anyone else from hearing it.

K̴̬̚i̷̛̹r̴̐ͅo̷͇̔n̷̺̚ë̴̱!!

Responding to her was a clear bell-like voice that rang out in her ears.

“Don’t frown so much, Mallory. It’d ruin that pretty face of yours.”
