Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 814 - 814: The Slap

Thousands of Illusion Clones appeared, casting an array of spells and magic, but Evan didn’t need to defend himself as Kayla moved faster than he could even think.

Lightning and spatial power filled the area as she destroyed most of the spells and warped out the explosive ones, preventing any smoke cover that Belphont could use to escape.

“…”

Evan, who had activated his Elemental Shield and Stout Guardian for defence, blinked repeatedly when he saw Kayla had already destroyed what he was defending himself from, before bursting into laughter.

Still laughing, he grabbed Belphont and stomped on his shoulder, using Collapse to shatter his bones, then easily ripped off his right arm.

When Evan reached for his left arm, Belphont’s eyes widened with the realization that Evan intended to dismember him before killing him.

Without hesitation, Belphont cast a spell on himself.

“EXPLOSION!!”

***BOOOMMM!!!!

The blast’s full force buffeted Evan as flames erupted, expanding outward and decimating everything within a kilometre radius.

The Dream Cage, already weakened by causality’s repeated break-ins, trembled and began to unfurl. Its self-repairing power was focused on the spatial barrier, leaving no energy to spare for the internal damage caused by Belphont’s explosion.

Hidden within the smoke and flames, Belphont conjured thousands of Illusions, intending to use them as decoys to escape.

‘My work here is done…no matter what they do, causality would still take her away!’

Just as he thought that, he felt a presence behind him and turned to meet the cold gaze of a certain very annoyed spirit.

“?!”

In that instant, memories that Belphont had buried in the deepest recesses of his mind surfaced and he instinctively froze under her gaze. By the time his rational mind reminded him that Kayla was not the full-powered Spirit Empress he knew, it was already too late.

“Burn, Mesarthim.”

A swirling mass of prismatic flames slammed into Belphont’s body from the side, hurling him into the air and crashing through the earth. Debris and soil collapsed upon him, exacerbating his wounds and drawing blood.

Barely a second later, a hand punched through the ground, seizing Belphont and yanking him out of the rubble, slamming him onto the uneven ground.

“Gurgh!”

Belphont spat out the sand and stone that entered his mouth, eyes wide as he turned to Evan, noticing the prismatic flames swirling around his sword.

“…Impossible…”

The word escaped Belphont’s lips, and Kayla, seeing recognition in his eyes, understood what he was about to say.

“..t.he flames of Aries…how do you have them?!”

Belphont had known about Evan’s esoteric multi-coloured flames, though he hadn’t dwelled on them since esoteric flames were not rare from his perspective.

He had encountered many variations over the years, after all.

Since Evan’s arrival, he had only seen the boy use his red flames, occasionally mixing them with ice to create Frostfire.

However, witnessing the prismatic flames enveloping Evan’s sword and hearing the boy’s words, Belphont felt as if a veil had been lifted from his eyes.

‘Recognition Inhibition! Someone used Recognition inhibition on me…no, on all of us! How could we go through all of his records and not find out his flames were prismatic?! We did! But someone made them unrecognizable!’

Belphont’s mind raced, attempting to grasp why he was suddenly recognizing them now. Was it because he was now seeing the flames physically rather than through pictures or videos?

‘No…it’s Kaylatheurge. That burst of power when her seal was released! It nullified all the spells I had active at the time…including the Recognition Inhibition cast on me!’

Looking up at Kayla, understanding dawned in his eyes, the final piece of the puzzle falling into place.

“…that’s why you chose him…that’s why you made him the ‘Key’ for your seal!”

Evan didn’t even bother listening to what Belphont was saying. He dashed forward like lightning; his sword pulled back as he activated his Vortex skill.

Faced with the mass of flames swirling towards him, Belphont made one last declaration to Evan.

“…you’re Prisma!”

**KAABOOMMM!!!!!

A split second later, Belphont’s form was consumed by the flames, burned to ashes and wiped off the face of the planet.

“…”

Despite having vanquished him, Evan’s expression clouded with displeasure, and he cursed

“Fucking hell…”

{HAHAHA! IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU’RE PRISMA, THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP IT!!

THE LONGER SHE STAYS UNSEALED, THE MORE OF HER POWER RETURNS, AND THE STRONGER CASUAILITY’S BINDS GET.

YOU’RE DONE FOR, KAYLATHEURGE!!!}

Belphont’s voice rang out one last time before it faded away, and Evan couldn’t help but curse once more.

“It was a fucking Soul Clone!”

Evan could feel that the ‘Soul’ that his destruction essence destroyed, was only one-third of a complete Soul…meaning the remaining two-thirds of Belphont were still out there somewhere!

‘Probably in Kreah…damn it.’

Things were so not going as planned, and Evan was already getting pissed. He turned to Kayla and was about to speak when the Spirit suddenly staggered and clutched her chest in pain.

“Kayla?!”

Evan rushed towards Kayla, but she raised her hand, using spatial power to anchor him in place against the torrent of energy that erupted from her body moments later.

Following that, space around Kayla shattered and the Dream Cage crumbled, returning them to the real world. Immediately, the golden chains of causality burst in through the spatial cracks at speeds faster than Evan could even perceive, coiling around her limbs and restraining all four of them at once.

Causality had finally gotten a lead on its elusive quarry after thousands of years, there was no way it was going to let her go so easily.

Seeing this, Evan frowned and looked at the ground beneath them. The whole Bornesher Fort had crumbled and they were now in the bunker that lay beneath it. Since they were deeper underground, he could feel the energy veins flowing under their feet more clearly.

The boy twisted his lips and made a decision, placing both hands on the ground and commanding.

“Hero Authority.”

The Planet responded to the desire of one of its Heroes, and the well of pure energy flowing deep underneath him surged up to the surface, ascending skyward in a towering pillar of light.

“Akashic Page. Get me your strongest Sealing Spell.”

The Grimoire, containing all spells in Aidosian history materialized before him, its pages flipping rapidly as Evan struggled to control the energy overflowing from the energy hotspot.

Seeing his actions, Kayla’s face paled and she shook her head repeatedly.

[..don’t…Evan…don’t….]

She knew just how much power she had, and she understood how much energy was needed to seal it.

As a Prime World, Aidos had more energy than some stars in the sky and could certainly provide that amount, but the cost for using such energy…was all of Evan’s accumulated Hero Authority.

This ‘Hero Authority’ could be likened to reward points that he received for all his actions which had protected Aidos over the past four years.

Every single thing he had done to fight the Demonic Hand whom the planet considered ‘Enemies’, from unsealing Roselia and taking her away from Merdin, down to the Disasters and the recent Synchro Attack where he orchestrated the deaths of over a hundred thousand Demonic Hand soldiers.

If Evan wanted to reseal Kayla’s power, he’d consume all of those ‘points’, and even go into negative territory.

In the end, he’d be the one owing the planet!

If ‘Aidos’ was awake, then ‘she’ would have surely tried not to stop him from doing this, but unfortunately, ‘her’ consciousness had been put into a deep sleep by an unknown entity!

‘That Seal told me I had reached the ‘Minimum Threshold’…I highly doubt erasing my own memories would be enough to remove that…so why don’t I raise that ‘Minimum Threshold’?

There’s a lot I’m still not ‘AWARE’ of, so if I raise the minimum requirement, it should do the trick.’

This was a gamble…something that Evan did NOT like doing at all.

It wasn’t even dawn yet and he’d already done one high-stake gamble, and was about to do another one!

[…Evan, don’t. You can use that Authority for something else…

Didn’t you want to use it against the Demonic Hand’s plAN FOR TARSE?! IT’S NECESSARY FOR YOUR PLANS, RIGHT?! THEN DON’T USE IT NOW!!]

Kayla’s shout snapped him out of his thoughts, and he looked up to see the Spirit’s pained expression.

[…don’t…please…don’t ruin your plans because of me…

This is better…master doesn’t need someone who lies and hides things from him…you should just let causality return me to where I’m mea-]

**PAK!!!

[…hu?]

Evan didn’t even know when his body moved. But by the time his rational mind peeked out of the sea of anger swirling within him, he’d his hand had already done something he never thought he’d ever do.

He smacked the shit out of Kayla.

There was a pin-drop silence.

Kayla was dumbfounded.

Evan who hit her was dumbfounded.

Heck, even the causality chains that wanted to drag her off were ‘shocked’ and froze in place.

Despite his internal shock, Evan quickly regained himself, grabbed Kayla’s dress by the collar and pulled her up.

“Woman, did you not hear me say I don’t give a flying fuck?! I couldn’t care less about that whole shtick!

So why don’t you get those stupid thoughts out of your head, and focus more on thinking of a method to deal with the current situation?

If you have one, then out with it already!”

Evan rarely got this angry at someone. He’d usually be annoyed for a few minutes, and then his usual Happy-go-lucky personality would return.

But now, the anger he was feeling at Kayla wasn’t something he felt would go away in a few minutes.

This was the highest level of anger he’d ever felt in years.

“So? You got any better ideas?”

[…]

When Evan asked Kayla this question, the causality chains that were floating in the air finally remembered they were supposed to drag Kayla off the planet.

However, in that time they had frozen, Evan had locked onto their position and he used his Everlasting Chains skill to create destructive essence chains that wrapped around them and tangled them.

Turning back to Kayla, he spoke.

“You don’t got anything? So, be quiet and let m-.”

[…facets.]

“What?”

[Multi-facets…if you seal only Kaylatheurge…it’d switch facet to just Kayla…]

Evan remembered seeing something about ‘Switching Facet’ when the seal was released, but he didn’t understand what all that meant.

“What do you mean by switching facets? Explain better.”

Kayla didn’t have the chance to answer, as someone else beat her to it and explained it to Evan.

“Her Existence is ‘Multi-faceted’; There are two sides to her.

The one you’ve been with all these years is the Great Lightning Spirit: Kayla, and the one causality is after is Spirit Empress: Kaylatheurge.”

Turning around, Evan locked eyes with the familiar white suit-clad goddess who turned her gaze from him to Kayla and continued.

“Causality has nothing against the Great Lightning Spirit: Kayla, so switching her back would solve your problems.”
