Chapter 328: A Wilderness Development

Word of the clothing options spread fast, but they were quickly forgotten when the next bit of news from the scouts came in.

"{ Coordinator, we believe that we have found another dungeon. }"

That was the whole message, but it changed the entire vibe of the city. The dungeon was within what the System considered their territory, just over twenty kilometres from the city, sitting on the far side of a hill in a clearing.

If the sun hadn’t reflected off it at just the right angle, they wouldn’t have noticed the shimmering of the portal from the sky at all.

Now, they had a dilemma. They didn’t know anything about the dungeon, and Kalli couldn’t tell anything from the video feed they attached. So, she was going to have to go in person and see if she could glean any more information about it before they sent someone in.

"{ I will take the flight suit and meet you there in a few minutes. We’re scrambling a team now. }"

The broadcasts were over the scout frequency, open to every vehicle, and anyone in town that had a helmet on, or a radio active in their shop, as the tinkers did, so they knew when to expect an influx of work.

Sanchez leapt to his feet. "I will have my team ready asap. Should I grab Niall and his core team as well? We’re all among the strongest in the city, if you don’t count the new five in Niall’s harem."

Kalli nodded. "We don’t know if it’s a five or ten person instance, or how strong it is. Get both full teams ready to move. The utility speeders that aren’t on patrol are parked alongside the Hall.

Now, I’m going to go over to find out what the System will tell me about it.

There is also a chance that someone will challenge us for it, but I don’t think that there are any forces in the area strong enough or organized enough to be doing dungeons. We’ve cleared the area that close to the city pretty well, and what we’ve seen spawning isn’t that powerful.

The Goblins and wild monsters aren’t going to be doing a dungeon run."

Then, she jogged to the door and swapped to the Flight Suit, ending the conversation.

As she left, Reggie sighed. "Great, now I have to deal with Yara finding out that there are new clothes available, but no Kalli to make recommendations. Maybe she will buy from the robot?"

Amber patted him on the shoulder. "Well, you can always hope. Just tell her that the colour and pattern are picked after purchase, and she should take some time to shop the styles before she comes in to purchase.

That’ll buy you some time."

"Oh, that’s a great idea. And here is Esmeralda."

The necromancer waved as she walked into the room. "Oh, the Coordinator already left. That’s fine, I’ll scroll through the options. I think that I have the perfect first purchase option."

The robot waited silently as she scrolled through the pages marked "Ladies Clothing" in the search. Then, she stopped on what looked like mage robes from a fantasy novel, complete with an attached cape.

"Yes! Those are them."

She even went as far as to pay five whole points to get them in Rare Grade, and instantly opened the box to reveal an ash grey and black set of robes that she put over her armoured bodysuit instead of replacing it.

"Yes! Oh, I like this. I feel like a proper necromancer."

Esmeralda put up the hood and pulled it low over her face, while Amber and Reggie quietly laughed at her enthusiasm.

She really did look like the stereotypical necromancer now, with her pale skin and the ashy coloured cloak. Then, she produced a small tube from her inventory, and did her lipstick in a grey blue that made her look like a corpse.

"DONE!"

Amber giggled as she shook her head in dismay. "You might be taking it too far, but you really hit the mark with that one. You definitely look like a Necromancer."

Esmeralda nodded. "And I still have my armour, so I don’t get claws digging into my skin when a certain someone climbs me like a tree."

A soft scoffing noise caught everyone’s attention, and her cat made a double leap, first from the ground to the table, then onto her shoulder.

"If you want someone to climb you, ask the zombies. I am perfectly capable of just jumping."

Esmeralda smiled, while the other two stared at them in shock.

"The cat talks," Reggie informed them in a startled tone.

"Thank you, Captain Obvious. She gained the ability when I got the [Familiar] skill. Apparently, it’s a cat thing."

"So, everyone who thought you were talking to yourself when you were out on watch duty?" Amber asked.

"Likely saw me talking to my furry little troublemaker here. We actually do that a lot, I’m surprised that it wasn’t common knowledge by now."

Amber shrugged. It might actually be widely known, but Esmeralda usually partnered with the Special Forces team, who weren’t all that social. They usually worked together, trained together, and lived together with the Necromancer.

So, they had probably just not seen any need to mention it to others, since they were rarely involved in small talk.

Esmeralda rushed out of the room with the cat on her shoulder, leaving the other two in confusion for a moment before Amber tossed her empty cup in the bin to be washed.

"I’ll see you in a bit. I’m headed to my team, so we can wait for the notice. If the dungeon is on a level that we can do, we intend to go out as soon as the news comes in. We’ve already done our dailies, except the work hours."

Reggie smiled. "Alright. See you later. I’m going to go find Yara and suggest a few outfits."

"Remember, think with your big head first. The little one will just get you beat up again."
