Chapter 1667: Hot Arrow

Chapter 1667: Hot Arrow

The sudden explosion and gore caused many to scream in horror. No one had expected to see such a scene out of nowhere. Even Ning hadn’t been prepared for such a huge scene of destruction.

‘Holy shit!’ he thought at the sight. ‘For 3 Points… this is amazing.’ S~eaʀᴄh the Nôvel(F)ire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Scroll of Fireball came in packs of 3, costing 9 points in total. He had used one of the scrolls, so now he had 2 more to work with.

<Ding!>

<You have successfully defeated the Earl, Visand>

<You have received 10 Points>

‘Hmm?’

He was surprised at the notification. ’10 points? When did i-“

He vaguely remembered a quest screen covering his vision when he had just been hit. That had been what led to him losing his left arm.

‘Damn you, system!’ he thought in anger. ‘You take away my arm, and for what? Measly 10 points?’

The only thing he could buy with that would be the Minor Scroll of Constitution. For a man without an arm, that was useless.

He wanted to grumble a bit more, but grumbling wouldn’t bring his arm back at all. For now, he needed to get out of here. “Are you okay?” Ning asked Shara who seemed too shocked to give any response.

“I… I…”

“Look at me,” Ning said, grabbing her by the arm before shaking her violently.

Shara broke out of her stunned state and looked at Ning. “You did not kill someone today. You saved your life. Do not let this ruin you.”

Shara took in a deep breath and nodded. Although why she nodded, she did not know herself. The situation was just such a shock to her after all.

The first thing that Ning heard after the silence was movement behind him. He turned around and saw the few troops that had arrived begin to move to engage them.

“Stop right there!” Ning shouted, pulling out another scroll. “Move and you will die, just like the Earl.”

The several soldiers stopped in a disorderly manner, looking back for a command.

‘These are humans,’ Ning realized. Anyone else would not act this way.

Altunia, the newly arrived commander walked only to the edge of the road, not getting too close to Ning and Shara.

“Boy, is that your sister?” she asked. “Or is she someone you like?”

“Just a young helpless girl who needs my help from monsters like you,” Ning said, working at the scroll with his single hand, ready to untie it at any moment.

He needed to get out of there quickly before he fell unconscious. He feared he would given how close he was to it due to his blood loss.

“You consider yourself a savior, eh?” the woman said. “There are many more people to save in the war happening down south. Do you wish to join my army?”

“And help the suppressors?” Ning asked with a mocking grin on his face.

That seemed to have irked the woman a bit more than Ning had intended for it to. She immediately took her bow and pulled on the strings. As she pulled, Ning could see the air waver as though it was heating up in just that section.

Then she let go.

Ning heard a short whistle and then a massive explosion. Both he and Shara felt blistering hot air consume their body at once. Thankfully, it lasted for no more than a single moment.

Ning turned back, noticing that one of the last 2 barriers he still had up from the first time had barely protected them. But the hot air had still struck them.

He couldn’t wait any longer. He handed the scroll over to Shara, pulling out another two scrolls at that same time.

“Do it again. Attack her,” Ning said.

“What?” Shara froze at that moment, the fear of killing another human getting to her. “Attack her or we’ll die,” Ning shouted, fiddling with his one hand to use another scroll. Shara hesitated but accepted that which she had to do. She untied the scroll and another massive ball of fire appeared in front of her, flying directly toward her target, the female commander.

Altunia was ready with her bow by this time. She knew something was happening, so was prepared to fight it. The moment she saw the ball of fire zip toward her, she let go of her already-nocked bow.

An invisible arrow made of hot air flew directly onto the fireball and the two exploded.

A massive explosion of fire and light erupted at the center, sending out a wave of hor air in all directions. All the soldiers and the people in the crowd were forced to look away.

Even Altunia had to turn to the side to not be directly hit by the hot hair. When the hot air passed, she looked back toward where Ning and Shara had been standing and her eyes went

wide.

They were gone.

Both of them had vanished.

“Where did they go?” she asked. “Where are they?”

The soldiers looked around, trying to find Ning and Shara, but no one could see them

anywhere.

“Stop standing around! Go find them!”

Upon that order, the soldiers spread all around, searching for the two. However, no matter how much they searched, they couldn’t find it.

Altunia went to check inside the house and noticed Visand’s vice commander frozen and most certainly dead. Visand himself was dead as well, and his undead corpses had gone back to

being dead once again.

It was a great failure all around.

The soldiers returned, unable to find anything. She went ahead and asked a bunch of people what had happened here, and they all collaborated on the same story.

Not a single one of them knew who they were. The old woman had just taken them in because they were young and all alone on the road.

Altunia sighed in the end. She had traveled so far away, only to end up as a failure. She

couldn’t return with just this.

No. No matter what, she had to go out and find them.
