Unaware of the attention the chaos she and Verdell had ended up garnering from the adventurers and snow wolves alike, Scaly felt like she was in heaven, as an endless number of snow wolves that she could easily cleave in half with even the weakest water blade came swarming towards her from all directions.

Like faithful little servants charging forth to offer their life to their lord, Scaly happily received these snow wolves eager to throw their lives away. Even doing her best to accommodate them by playing around with her water blade spell by increasing the size of the water blade from what was original only a thin blade a little under half a meter in length to one that was more than four meters long.

Yes, doing this did cost her quite a bit more mana than a normal water blade, but she found it was the most useful and cost-efficient spell currently in her arsenal against the snow wolves throwing themselves at her and Verdell. All for the very simple reason that the large water blade didn’t just kill more of the snow wolves with a single blade than the smaller standard water blade did, but it could also travel further.

While a normal water blade at most cut down three or so snow wolves along with one or two unfortunate snow wolves behind the few that had taken the brunt of the water blade, the large water blade could cleave through a dozen before continuing onward to cut down another two or three dozen snow wolves behind the first group to take the water blade.

In essence, a single water blade went from killed four to five snow wolves to killing forty to fifty of them, a ten times performance improvement while the mana cost itself hadn’t gone up by more than four or so times that of a normal water blade.

Of course, the main reason why it was so effective also had to do with how close together the snow wolves were to one another along with how they kept mindlessly charging towards her and Verdell without any regard for their own safety in the process.

If not, the most cost-effective way to deal with the large number of snow wolves would have been for her to use her circular wave spell to wipe all of them out with a single spell. Reaching level fifty in an instant.

But... She also understood that there was little to no chance of her getting the chance to use such a large-scale spell before those stronger snow wolves pounced on her.

A situation she wanted to avoid, as even if she did manage to successfully fire off the circular wave spell in time, she would have essentially drained her own mana just as those powerful snow wolves reached her- and with flying not really being an option within the frozen wastelands thanks to the icy winds raging above, it would essentially be nothing short of a death sentence for her to use the circular wave spell under the current conditions.

GRRRRR-!

AWOOOOO-!

Grooowl~!

Not that her current actions wouldn’t attract the attention of those powerful snow wolves...

[Elder Snow Wolf, lvl 162]

[Elder Snow Wolf, lvl 156]

[Greater Snow Wolf Pack Leader, lvl 198]

[Elder Snow Wolf...]

Just looking at the line up of powerful snow wolves that were currently rushing towards her and Verdell filled to the brim with killing intent, she could say for certain that she had indeed managed to attract the attention of those powerful snow wolves with her wanton killing.

Although...

BOOOOM! Ruuumble~

She had a feeling that the dwarf on her back throwing out explosive balls of fire was the one attracting the most attention out of the two of them as his fighting method truly was eye catching to say the least. One of his fireballs having even flown off course and crashed into one of those powerful elder snow wolves. Catching the unlucky wolf completely off guard, as this powerful SS Rank Monster found itself blown up by a little fire slinging dwarf that had only reached the S Rank a few days earlier and was still some distance from reaching the limit of the S Rank, let alone reaching the SS Rank.

Oh well~ At least those snow wolves won’t be focusing as much on me~

Chuckling silently to herself inside her own head as she watched how every single one of those snow wolves had their eyes focused on the dwarf on her back instead of her, Scaly couldn’t help feeling a bit helpless looking at the dwarf on her back that had essentially taken on all the blame for the destruction the two of them had ended up causing to the vast army of snow wolves.

Heck, it wasn’t just the snow wolves charging them that had focused their attention towards the dwarf on her back, but also those adventurers that had just broken free from the encirclement that had been formed by those powerful snow wolves only a few seconds earlier, along with the adventurers on the walls of the city, whose attention had always been on Verdell from the start.

Although part of her wanted to complain over how everyone was ignoring her and how powerful she was, she couldn’t really complain about it, as everyone ignoring her and instead focusing their attention on the dwarf on her back also meant she would be able to fight with far more ease than if she had been the focal point for everyone.

But... One thing she did notice and hear from those adventurers standing on the walls observing the battle from the safety of their magical barrier, was the fact that they had misunderstood the water blades and other kinds of magic she used as it being Verdell who used that magic.

In their eyes, the only thing she was doing on the battlefield was keeping Verdell out of danger and crushing any snow wolf that happened to get too close.

Then again, if it wasn’t for them misunderstanding that the water magic was also Verdell’s doing, it wouldn’t make much sense for Verdell to become the focal point of everyone’s attention.

If anything, the fact that he was both capable of wielding powerful water magic and fire magic at the same time was the main reason why he had ended up becoming the focal point of the entire battlefield.

After all, the ability he displayed in the eyes of those watching was indeed terrifying if one considered he was behind both the fire- and water magic on the battlefield alike.

Even if he wasn’t someone who had surpassed the SS Rank, it was clear from a glance to those observing that he was someone just a single step away from taking that final step to ascending beyond the SS rank.

Not only was he capable of wielding both fire and water magic but also riding on top a dragon.

Truly... Verdell looked nothing short of a legendary adventurer in the eyes of the adventurers watching, while he looked like a powerful harbinger of destruction in the eyes of the powerful snow wolves starting to converge towards him.

In this instant, he truly embodied the role of a main character as he continued wielding his fire magic against the approaching snow wolves, something she decided to aid him with, as those powerful snow wolves wouldn’t just pose a serious threat to her if they ended up encircling them like they had those adventurers, but also because these powerful snow wolves were the riches in terms of experience. More than enough to propel her the little bit of the way she needed to reach level 50 if she killed four or five of them.

Of course, outside of meeting them head on with magic, Scaly also decided to get moving to avoid being encircled by them-

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Something that soon enough resulted in the rather comical sight of her and Verdell running circles around the city throwing magic at the snow wolves chasing after them as they carved a bloody path through the weaker snow wolves standing in their path.

After all, unfortunately for those weaker snow wolves, they could do little to nothing to slow the two of them down, as they had dedicated more than enough of their strength to ensure they would have a clear travel path as they circled the city.

"This... I never expected to see something like this in my life..."

"To play around with so many powerful monsters- as expected of someone capable of taming a dragon!"

"Don’t dawdle! Use this time to kill off the weaker ones!"

And in response to the chase that had begun, the adventurers on the wall and outside were left speechless before one of the more senior adventurers brought them back to the still very deadly situation they found themselves in.
