Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 969: The Frustrated Father
The Luthor Patriarch ignored the booms and bangs coming from behind him. He kept his eyes focused on the shimmering barrier of energy, waiting.
All these things that were happening did not matter. Although many could not predict the moves of the All-King, it was understood by many that the All-King would not take action without serious confidence that he would win.
The All-King hated losing and loved winning to the point that no one must win if he did not win. He was that petty.
This was observed in real time as the All-King himself never bothered to hide this trait. It let others know that if he sent someone to get them, they had better lie down and die for him; if not, things would get worse.
The fact that these vultures were here, terrorising the real terrorists, just meant one of two things.
Either the All-King was fed up and was retaliating to something that had recently happened, or this was already planned from a long time ago.
In reality, it was a little bit of both. But the Luthor Patriarch could not be spared the chance to analyze such a thing; they needed leverage, and they needed advantage.
"Seth, dammit, come on!" He said within himself with gritted teeth.
All of a sudden, there were some changes. The Luthor Patriarch felt the aura of another Supreme Level Immortal appear.
He didn't turn around, but his senses spread out, and he quickly knew who had appeared.
It was actually a Supreme Level Immortal Carrion Beetle, an undead one for that matter. This just further solidified the case that the All-King was absolutely ready to crush them completely.
This wasn't expected, but it wasn't a surprise either.
The Luthor Patriarch waited and kept his eyes on the shimmering barrier. His fists were folded by his side, and he narrowed his eyes.
He was putting too much trust in Zayna to handle the matter for the meantime.
"SETH!" The Luthor Patriarch thundered telepathically, annoyed.
He had his fists vibrating and his eyes becoming increasingly agitated. He hated how he had to beg his own son for this. If he was the one in Seth's shoes, he knew that he would have opened up the entrance irrespective of how dangerous the outside world was.
He was very selfish, but his selfishness extended to his race; if not, he would not have ordered their retreat at the battle of the Draconic Heaven.
That he had to beg his own son for the same thing he would have done without thinking was truly aggravating and frustrating. It let him remember why he wanted to even do what he had planned for Seth originally.
The Luthor Patriarch asked himself who was worse, the All-King, a violent and oppressive dictator who just wanted his obstacles eliminated, or Seth, the son who was just too spineless for his liking.
"If only it was me…" The Luthor Patriarch thought to himself.
And then…
"But it could be you…" A deep, tyrannical, magnetic, and powerful voice reverberated in the Luthor's
The Luthor Patriarch's eyes snapped open, and he looked around, but the voice was gone as soon as it left.
He knew that voice, that particular dominating tone had only been heard from the mouth of a single individual.
How did he manage to whisper such thoughts into his mind? He thought.
Before the Luthor Patriarch could think harder about it, there were some new developments.
The shimmering barrier in front of him parted ways, creating a singular fitted entrance in the vast backdrop of white energy.
Thousands of power beams rushed out of the Alphaverse, traversing the void faster than the speed of light and hitting various undead beetles that were close to the Cat Fleet.
"Get in!" Seth's voice brought his father back to the present, snapping him out of that millisecond of confusion.
"Quick!" The Luthor Patriarch shouted into the telepathic channel, "The Alphaverse is open; rush in as fast as possible!"
The Luthor Patriarch did not even finish his words when his body turned into a beam of blue light and dashed away.
However, contrary to what many would have expected, he did not fly toward the entrance that had just opened.
No, while other arkships had noticed the new entrance and were starting to swarm over as fast as they could, the Luthor Patriarch went in the opposite direction.
He flew toward Zayna.
Meanwhile, Zayna was busy battling with the Undead Carrion Beetle that Marcus had summoned, as well as many weaker beetles that were on the side.
Different types of attacks were bombarding her body, and the space had been folded thousands of times, reducing the amount of shockwaves that could be released from every clash.
The Supreme Level Immortal Carrion Beetle that Marcus had with him had been one that was designated to the power of Space.
It was responsible for not only holding Zayna back to prevent her from helping the rest of the fleet, but also folding the space around them and preventing more damage from reaching the other Grave Keepers and Carrion Beetles.
Marcus stood by the side, at the corner of the folded space, flanked on all sides by lesser but still Immortal Tier Carrion Beetles while his massive wings remained spread out.
His eyes were focused on the supernatural battle between the two supremes as they clashed thousands of times every second, but his mind was in contact with his master.
Suddenly, Marcus's head snapped to the left, where he saw a bright blue light getting wider in his vision.
There was no time to react, no time to do anything except compromise.
The Supreme Level Immortal Undead Carrion Beetle that had been tangled with Zayna instantly stopped what it was doing, sensing that its master was in danger.
Suddenly, the massive undead Carrion Beetle, big enough to dwarf large planets, disappeared from its position, leaving Zayna swinging at the empty void for a brief second.
She was confused at first
Then she saw the same Supreme Level Immortal Undead Carrion Beetle appear in front of Marcus.
A blue spiritual wave attack immediately hit the undead beetles around Marcus, protecting him from that fatal attack and saving his life.
"Zayna, let's go," The Luthor Patriarch said as he used his hands to tear apart the spatial folds around him. He called out to his partner; she was the one he had dashed in the opposite direction for.
Zayna and the Luthor Patriarch exchanged glances, then looked at Marcus and his army of undead creatures. They didn't think twice and instantly turned into two colorful beams, heading straight for the entrance to Seth's Alphaverse.
Marcus could only look on with a little bit of astonishment and intrigue. He had just clashed with a Supreme Level Immortal and had survived. That was a feat worth boasting about in the future.
For now, all was not lost. To Marcus, who knew the vile things the All-King wanted to achieve, this was just the beginning.
"Grave Keepers!.." Marcus called out to his kin, preparing for the next phase.
