Red Heart Patrols the Sky
Chapter 2783 - 67: We Are Born Into Ku Hai, Crying Within the Cage_3
Pig Dali was momentarily stunned, murmuring to himself, "Did I kill my future?"
It was only now that he felt the Daoist’s thoughts recede like the tide, realizing he had regained control over his body.
"You killed your misfortune," a voice suddenly rang out.
Pig Dali turned abruptly, seeing She Guyu, covered in scars and blood.
After confirming that the skeleton was a test of the Land of Shenxiao, She Guyu’s whereabouts were no longer a concern.
If She Guyu passed, it would naturally be fine. If not, it would likely be like those bubbles, silently bursting.
"I killed... my misfortune?" Pig Dali looked at her, still confused.
At this moment, She Guyu appeared extremely weak. However, the Peaceful Taoist seated in the Mirror World knew that at this moment, She Guyu, with red marks appearing on her body, was at her most dangerous.
The wounds covering her body seemed dense and hideous but were not debilitating—obviously exchanged during battle.
If the tests in the Land of Shenxiao depend on a target’s potential future, then the weaker one’s current strength, the lower the difficulty of the trial.
Pig Dali, using the Peaceful Taoist’s power to pass the test, was, in a way, cheating. If he faced it alone, it would certainly be a situation of certain death.
The dangers Pig Dali faced could vaguely infer what opponent She Guyu encountered. The strength of this snake woman might go far beyond her appearances.
This Land of Shenxiao truly hides dragons and crouching tigers!
"We are born into a sea of suffering, crying in cages, where all destined is tribulation. If what appears before you is your fate. Then if you slay him, is it not slaying your misfortune?" She Guyu’s gaze was indifferent but her body language could not hide her vigilance.
She also learned of the legend of the Eternal Youth Spring from the secret records of the Approaching Fog Snake Family.
Compared to the Peaceful Ghost Messenger who stumbled into the Land of Shenxiao, as a new king on the Heavenly List, she knew some secrets.
She understood that the recent test might be the legendary "fate illusion."
It is said that drinking the Immortal Spring Water can bestow immortality, and its surface can reflect a visitor’s life.
Great treasures always come with great trials.
To approach the Eternal Youth Spring, one must endure the "fate illusion."
This trial, in some sense, can be taken as the current self challenging the future self. Of course, power is restricted to a corresponding level, and the "now" has some influence on the "future"—she relied on this to pass the final barrier.
Having experienced it, having passed it, she knew well the difficulty of this trial. Hence, she deeply felt how fearsome Pig Dali was to come through the fate illusion unscathed!
"Born into a sea of suffering, crying in cages." "All destined is tribulation."
If Yang Yu or Shujia Lan were present, they would recognize that She Guyu’s notions were derived from the "Suffering Cage Sect."
The Suffering Cage Sect is not an organized sect per se, or perhaps there once was such a sect in Demon clan history, but it has been destroyed.
Now, it is more of an ideology, with sparse agreement found in the darkness.
It is more of an ideology, with sparse agreement found in the darkness.
The downfall of the glorious era shattered much of the Demon clan’s inherent pride. Falling into the Hell World from the dominion of the Ten Thousand Realms to the prisoners of many realms is a pain hard for any Demon clan to bear.
In such pain and despair, some of the Demon clan advance, some sages sacrifice, some learn from shame, and some possess unyielding ambition... and naturally, breeds some extremely sorrowful thoughts.
A typical example is the Suffering Cage Sect.
The Suffering Cage Sect demons believe the Monster Realm is not a true world, and demons born into this world are natural prisoners. They see life as a boundless sea of suffering, with existence as eternal torment.
Only in death can there be true release.
They believe that destroying everything is the way to counter the cage. Their lives are spent seeking a radiant way to die, believing life can only be transcended in a glorious death. The cage is not only laid upon this world, upon this body, but also upon destiny; only by finding meaning in destruction can one break free from the innate shackles.
Pig Dali of course did not understand what the Suffering Cage Sect was, could not comprehend She Guyu’s pessimistic discourse, and did not know if she was spreading an ideology or testing... He couldn’t even perceive She Guyu’s wariness towards him.
He simply sheathed his blade in naïveté: "I don’t quite understand what you’re saying, I just feel as if something sad has happened... But let’s keep moving. Every journey must have an end."
He remained in his usual deep tone, but under the premise of having safely passed the fate illusion, this depth gained reflective meaning.
Sensing Pig Dali’s lack of defenses, She Guyu slightly lowered her guard; as she moved, her dual blades flickered in and out of view. In the shifting light filtering through leaves, she inexplicably recalled that unremarkable afternoon spent alone before the mirror in a humble inn.
She remembered that self in the mirror.
Oddly, she asked, "What do you think the future looks like? Is it the fate you just witnessed?"
Pig Dali thought earnestly and said with great seriousness, "If there’s one future that must come true, I believe it’s world peace."
