Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 508 - 430: Discovering the Zombie Kingdom
Chapter 508: Chapter 430: Discovering the Zombie Kingdom
That mountain is probably full of Middle Level zombies and those three High-level zombies.
With this kind of hierarchy and organization, the zombie horde is like a well-planned, systematic nation."
Joel Bloom’s expression froze.
"Sis, are you saying that place... has become a zombie nation?"
Flora Bloom didn’t want to admit it, but that was the reality. She couldn’t deceive herself.
"Then what do we do? Can we even take down a zombie horde like that?"
"I don’t know either. Joel, your discovery was timely. If we’d been any later, their numbers would have been even greater. We can’t get any closer. Let’s go check other regions and see if there are any other zombie populations on this scale."
Sure enough, in a country as vast as Veridia, it would have been impossible to notice some of the sudden topographical shifts if they had been traveling by land under normal circumstances.
And that wasn’t all. The topographical shifts, landmass displacement, and even the extreme climate changes had not only made survival more difficult for people in the surrounding areas but had also accelerated the proliferation of zombies and other various evolved life-forms.
For any living creature, procreation is an instinct.
For low-level zombies, procreation meant infection. Humans or any other creature infected by the virus were their targets for "procreation."
Humanity didn’t just have to fight against zombies; they also had to be wary of the mutated plants that were everywhere.
The same was true for the zombies.
Humans, zombies, and evolved life-forms—the three-way struggle for survival on Earth seemed to be growing clearer at this very moment.
The evolved life-forms, especially the plants, were the transcendent group at the top of the pyramid. The zombies ranked second; they infected any species with a will to live, with humanity bearing the brunt of the devastation.
It was a three-way struggle, and humanity was the weakest link.
Flora Bloom worried. ’How could they turn the tables in a situation like this? How could they win the coming war and secure a sliver of hope for humanity’s survival?’
「From morning until the night sky was full of stars.」
The Golden Crow carried the two adults and one child across all of Veridia. Polly seemed to sense the heavy atmosphere between Flora Bloom and Joel Bloom and was obediently quiet. Only when she was hungry would she tug on Flora Bloom’s clothes, crying, "Hungy," and when she was thirsty, she’d tug and cry, "Wawa."
They wouldn’t have known if they hadn’t looked, but upon investigation, they discovered eight more zombie nations of a similar scale. And each one they found was larger than the one before.
Furthermore, Flora Bloom had a faint feeling that there was some kind of subtle connection between these nine zombie nations.
What terrified Flora Bloom most was that these nine interconnected zombie nations were strategically positioned. One was in the heart of Veridia, while the other eight were situated at varying distances from the center in eight different directions, effectively encircling all the major human bases.
It was easy to imagine how vulnerable they would be. Once the war began in the third year of the apocalypse, the major bases would be caught in a pincer attack, assaulted by zombie hordes from both within and without.
Flora Bloom wanted to fly over the ocean to investigate the situation abroad, but it was getting too late. They had only told Selina they were going out, and returning too late would worry everyone back home.
"Let’s go. That’s enough for today. We’re heading back."
On the way back to Morhaven Base, Flora Bloom and Joel Bloom remained silent. Only Polly would occasionally look up at the stars, waving her little hands as if trying to pluck them from the night sky.
When Flora Bloom and Joel Bloom returned to Morhaven Base, a concerned crowd rushed to greet them, but the siblings’ faces remained grim and silent.
Lex Cross had already returned to the base at dusk, riding Shadow. He was accompanied by Shadow’s only offspring, a young colt that Flora Bloom and the others had named the Little Flyer.
Over the past year, raised on fruit and spiritual water from Flora Bloom’s pocket dimension and occasionally fighting the little Nightmare Beast for honey, the once-frail Little Flyer had grown progressively stronger.
Although it didn’t grow as quickly as the little Nightmare Beast, it was now without a doubt a sturdy, healthy colt, its build even more robust than an ordinary horse’s.
It was only slightly smaller than its father, Shadow. Its flight was already quite stable, and it could carry a rider on its own, keeping pace with Shadow without falling behind.
"Where have you been, coming back so late?" The worry on Lex Cross’s face was even greater than that of Jade and Caleb Bloom.
’His daughter was a handful, and her mother couldn’t sit still either.’
Neither of them ever gave him a moment’s peace.
"Joel discovered something, so we spent the entire day circling over Veridia. We made several unbelievable discoveries."
