After dinner, Yvonne Sterling personally walked Cecilia downstairs.

In the elevator, she suddenly looked at Cecilia and asked, "Cecilia, your mom has been in Lorcain for over a year now. Has she met any men?"

Her aunt’s question was blunt. Cecilia blinked, taking a moment to register before answering, "I think so, but probably not many. She still socializes most frequently with a group of wealthy ladies."

"Auntie, are you asking about my mom’s love life?"

Yvonne Sterling gave a noncommittal smile. After a moment of silence, she couldn’t help but sigh. "Sigh, your mother seems so gentle, but she has a will of steel. If an ordinary woman had to raise three children on her own, how many could have endured it?"

"Your mom refused to date in the past, and I doubt she’ll start looking on her own now. But I really hope she finds someone. Otherwise, if your dad is the only man in her life, I just feel it’s not fair to her."

’It would be one thing if he were a good man, but the crucial point is, he wasn’t!’

"Actually, she was seeing someone," Cecilia said, looking at her aunt. "She gave it a try after we moved to Lorcain."

"Really?" Yvonne Sterling was surprised. "How come I didn’t know about it?"

"They probably never made it official, so Mom didn’t mention it to you."

"So what happened? Why didn’t it go anywhere? Was there something wrong with him?" Yvonne Sterling pressed urgently.

Cecilia shook her head. "It was nothing like that. He’s a successful businessman. I looked into him, and he’s a really great guy. I think my mom was quite happy with him, too."

"He was the one who made the first move and pursued my mom. They dated for a month or two, and I had a feeling they were about to take the next step. But then his son came forward to object. He wouldn’t allow it!"

"His son?" Yvonne Sterling’s brows drew together. "His son didn’t approve?"

"Yes, and it got very ugly. He bullied my mom, so I had him thrown in a detention center for seven days."

"Oh, wow. That’s a tough situation." Yvonne Sterling felt it was a shame.

"So after that incident, I think it’ll be even harder for my mom to open her heart again. Besides, she’s completely focused on her business right now and has no time for anything else. She’s probably not in the mood to even think about romance."

Yvonne Sterling nodded in understanding. She looked at Cecilia and said, "It’s a good thing we’re all here for her. You, Lily, and Ethan are staying by her side. If she doesn’t want to date, then so be it. It’s not like she has to."

"Auntie, you should just listen to Mom and go help her out. That way, she’ll have some free time and the energy to think about other things," Cecilia said, seizing the opportunity.

Yvonne Sterling shot her a glare. "So what? You think just because I’m there, your mom will suddenly have the free time to find a boyfriend?"

Cecilia simply smiled without a word, pulling open the car door and getting in. "You should head back, Auntie. Message me if you need anything."

"Drive safe, and let me know when you get home."

Only after watching Cecilia’s car drive off into the distance did Yvonne Sterling turn to go back inside.

Jasmine and the other two had finished two bottles of red wine. Only Megan Nash, who had a lower tolerance, had gotten a little drunk.

Jasmine wanted her to stay the night, but as the alcohol hit her, Megan Nash stubbornly refused and insisted on going home.

"Forget it, I’ll take her home," Randall Jennings said when he saw Jasmine couldn’t persuade her.

Jasmine looked at Megan, who was slumped on the sofa, and asked worriedly, "Can you manage on your own?"

"Of course. She only weighs about a hundred pounds. Just help me get her into the car in a bit."

Jasmine didn’t press the issue. When the driver pulled the car up to the entrance, she helped Randall get the unsteady Megan, who could barely stand, into the back seat.

Jasmine called out loudly, "Megan, Randall is taking you home! If you feel like you’re going to be sick, say something! Don’t throw up in the car!"

With drowsy, drunken eyes, Megan cupped Jasmine’s face and said woozily, "Jasmine, you’re so beautiful. No wonder he likes you."

"Stop talking nonsense and sit properly!"

Jasmine paid no mind to her words and simply shut the car door.

Randall got into the front passenger seat, rolled down the window, and looked at Jasmine. "Jasmine, we’re heading out. Thanks for everything tonight."

Jasmine smiled and waved. "You two get some rest. Make sure you get Megan home safely. And tell her mom not to let her sleep on her back tonight. It can be dangerous if she throws up in her sleep."

"Okay, I’ll remember. You get some rest, too."

As the car drove out the main gate, it passed Cecilia’s car, which was just pulling in. She recognized it as Mr. Jennings’ car at a glance.

Jasmine saw her daughter had returned and went to greet her. "You’re finally back. Have you eaten?"

"I ate at my aunt’s place." After getting out of the car, Cecilia pulled her mother toward the house. "Was Mr. Jennings here?"

"Mhm. He hasn’t been over since the New Year and just happened to be free today."

Once inside, Cecilia saw the table still covered with the remnants of their meal. She walked over, her eyes widening. "Whoa, Mom, you opened both of these bottles?"

"I did. Your Mr. Jennings even said the wine was quite good."

"Of course it’s good. Each bottle costs thirty dollars," Cecilia said with a smile.

Jasmine said in surprise, "It’s that expensive?"

"Mr. Jennings is worth it," Cecilia said, proactively starting to help her mother clear the table and wash the dishes. "So, three of you? Was Lily home?"

"No, and... your Mr. Jennings’... ex-girlfriend. The one you’ve met, Megan Nash."

’Ex-girlfriend?’

Cecilia stared at her mother, completely bewildered.

「Meanwhile, in Randall Jennings’ car」

He was in the front passenger seat, keeping a close eye on Megan in the back. "Megan, if you’re not feeling well, just say so. Don’t try to tough it out."

"I’m not drunk..." Megan slurred in response. Then, with great difficulty, she propped herself up from the back seat and leaned her head close to Randall’s shoulder. "Randall..."

"Hmm?" Randall turned to look at her.

Megan let out a silly grin, a complete departure from her usual self. She let out a couple of random laughs, then her smile vanished. Her drunken expression turned dead serious as she looked at Randall and declared, "You like her!"

Confusion flickered in Randall’s eyes, but Megan’s tone grew even more certain. "Don’t give me that look. You definitely like her. I can tell!"

"Me?" Randall frowned. "Like who?"

"Jasmine!" Megan swallowed hard and patted Randall’s shoulder firmly. "You like Jasmine, don’t you? Admit it!"

Randall froze.

"See? You hesitated!" Megan laughed triumphantly. "You’re too close to see it, but it’s clear to me. Randall, the way you look at Jasmine is completely different from how you usually look. I’ve never seen you with that expression before."

"You’re drunk," Randall said, snapping out of it. His expression remained calm. "Just rest for a bit. We’re almost there."

He didn’t admit it.

But it seemed he didn’t deny it, either.

Megan leaned back into her seat, laughing as she continued her drunken ramblings. "Jasmine is great. I like her, too. It’s no surprise anyone would like her. She’s just that wonderful..."
