Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 558 - 554: Alright, No Problem
Cecilia Sterling also thought back with a serious expression. She had discussed this issue with Estelle and Blair, and her flow was indeed on the heavier side.
But before Cecilia Sterling could even nod, Emeric Grant had already figured it out. "Your vitality seems quite strong. It’s common for women with heavier flows to experience more severe cramps."
"As for managing it, the methods are the usual ones: brown sugar water, hot compresses, a regular sleep schedule, and the simplest, most direct option—taking painkillers."
As he spoke, Emeric Grant suddenly pulled open a drawer, took out a piece of paper and a pen, and lowered his head, beginning to write intently.
He continued speaking as he wrote. "There are some other effective methods, which I’ll write down for you. First is diet. You need to avoid raw and cold foods, high-salt items, and caffeine, as these can worsen cramps and bloating."
"However, you can eat more anti-inflammatory foods in moderation, like ginger, dark-colored vegetables, cooked salmon, and bananas."
"When you have time, you can also try moxibustion. Its effects are noticeable right away."
He paused in his writing, then continued, "If the pain is extremely severe, you can take short-term birth control pills. They inhibit ovulation and reduce prostaglandin secretion. If you ever need a prescription, you can come to me."
"Birth control pills?" Zelda Warner exclaimed. "Are those safe to take just like that?"
In her entire life, she had never heard that birth control pills could be used for cramps.
"This method is only suitable for women with extremely severe cramps who are not currently trying to conceive. And it must be taken under a doctor’s guidance."
In the face of Zelda Warner’s surprise, Emeric Grant’s expression remained placid. He folded the paper and handed it to Cecilia Sterling. "You can try these methods one by one. One of them is bound to work."
Cecilia Sterling reached out, took the note, and said, "Thank you."
’This really is his personality.’ Cecilia had gotten that impression last time, too. He looked cold and distant on the surface, but he was meticulous and professional in everything he said and did. Especially when it came to his patients, his actions showed he was incredibly dedicated and responsible.
It was a paradoxical kind of charm.
His phone rang again. This time, a subtle reaction crossed Emeric Grant’s face—a flash of impatience in his eyes.
Seeing this, Cecilia Sterling helped Zelda Warner to her feet. "Dr. Grant, you seem busy. We’ll get going now."
Emeric Grant nodded expressionlessly, but he didn’t answer the phone, letting the ringing continue.
After leaving the hospital, Cecilia Sterling first dropped Zelda Warner off at home. Then, she drove out of the neighborhood and headed to the restaurant for her date with Wyatt Sherman.
He had booked a table at a French restaurant for today. The atmosphere in such places was usually romantic and formal, and Cecilia Sterling had a faint premonition that Wyatt Sherman was probably planning to confess his feelings to her tonight.
She, for her part, was ready. She considered Wyatt Sherman a wonderful potential partner, and she liked him a great deal.
When she arrived, she saw that the restaurant was indeed an exquisitely and elegantly decorated establishment. A professional pianist was playing live, and the dim, perfectly calibrated lighting set the atmosphere beautifully.
"A reservation for Mr. Sherman."
Cecilia Sterling said to the waiter, who wore a vest and a bow tie. After a quick glance at the reservation details, he led her to a table by the window.
Cecilia Sterling ordered a glass of water and, after taking her seat, scrolled through her phone while waiting for Wyatt Sherman.
After a while, Cecilia Sterling glanced at the time. It was less than three minutes until their appointed meeting time. She furrowed her brow slightly.
Wyatt Sherman wasn’t necessarily late, but Cecilia Sterling couldn’t help but find it strange. Every other time they had met for a date, he had always been early—sometimes by as much as an hour.
For him to be cutting it this close was unheard of.
’He isn’t about to spring some kind of surprise on me, is he? Is he going to pop out from somewhere?’
The thought suddenly crossed Cecilia’s mind, but reality quickly poured cold water on her imagination.
Because moments later, Wyatt Sherman’s highly-educated mother appeared before her.
Cecilia Sterling was surprised but remained relatively composed. She rose to her feet instinctively and offered a polite greeting, "Mrs. Sherman."
Mrs. Sherman’s expression was icy, and her gaze held no trace of warmth. She was completely different from Dr. Grant; Mrs. Sherman was the kind of cold, arrogant person who instantly inspired revulsion.
The woman’s gaze made Cecilia Sterling uncomfortable, so she didn’t feign any warmth, simply watching as the other woman gracefully took the seat opposite her.
"Sit down," Mrs. Sherman said, placing her handbag to one side. She looked at Cecilia, her tone imperious.
Cecilia Sterling was baffled. She glanced instinctively toward the restaurant entrance, but there was no sign of Wyatt Sherman.
Mrs. Sherman’s voice drifted over. "Don’t bother looking. He’s not coming today."
As she spoke, Mrs. Sherman slowly placed a cell phone on the table. Her finger brushed against the screen, and it lit up.
The lock screen showed a photo of Cecilia Sterling and Wyatt Sherman, their smiles radiant. They looked like a perfect match—a talented man and a beautiful woman.
"I have his phone, as you can see."
At this, Cecilia Sterling began to understand the purpose of this visit. As for Wyatt, she wasn’t worried. A mother wouldn’t go so far as to kill her own son, after all.
Cecilia Sterling slowly sat back down, calmly picking up her glass of water and taking a sip.
Having been a professor at Lorcain U for so many years, Mrs. Sherman was well aware of the intimidating aura she projected when she was being serious. For Cecilia to appear so composed in her presence... she could only assume the girl was putting on a brave face.
And so, Mrs. Sherman spoke first, hoping to seize the upper hand.
"He’s preparing for his graduate school entrance exams. You’re aware of that, aren’t you?"
The question was laced with an accusatory tone.
Cecilia Sterling set down her water glass and nodded slightly. "I’m aware."
Seeing Cecilia answer so crisply, Mrs. Sherman’s eyes darkened.
Cecilia’s expression remained placid, her gaze as serene as a still lake as she met the other woman’s eyes.
Mrs. Sherman let out a soft breath, consciously steadying her imposing aura as she fixed her eyes on Cecilia. "Wyatt has been a sensible boy his entire life. He never even went through a rebellious phase. Our family has always placed a great emphasis on education, so at every stage of his life, he has been perfectly clear on what he should be doing and what is most important for him."
"But now, he is clearly straying from his path. Your appearance has become a distraction, and at the most critical moment of his life, no less."
Mrs. Sherman spoke with grave sincerity, but as Cecilia Sterling listened, she couldn’t help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Mrs. Sherman frowned, displeased.
Cecilia Sterling shook her head and asked with a smile, "Are you suggesting, Ma’am, that at the age of twenty-two, Wyatt has suddenly entered his rebellious phase just because he met me?"
"That’s not what I meant—"
Cecilia Sterling waved a hand, a flicker of impatience crossing her face as she cut the other woman off. "Ma’am, you can just get to the point. I have neither the time nor the interest to listen to you wax lyrical about your educational philosophy or Wyatt’s life story."
Mrs. Sherman was stunned, as if she’d never imagined Cecilia would dare say such a thing—and say it while looking her straight in the eye without a trace of fear.
Anger flared within her, and Mrs. Sherman blurted out, "I want you to stop distracting Wyatt from his studies and break up with him."
She had expected some kind of negative reaction, but to her surprise, Cecilia Sterling simply curved her lips into a faint smile and nodded. "Alright. No problem."
