Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 557 - 553: Is the Flow Heavy?
The atmosphere in the dorm room was unusually somber.
The guys sat in their chairs, their faces heavy and grim. Victor Tucker’s bed was still empty, and the scene of him moving out felt like it had just happened yesterday.
Rabbit was scrolling endlessly on his phone. An incident this big was impossible for the university to completely cover up, and it was already starting to brew online.
Various campus group chats and forums were starting to fill with rumors, some true and some false.
After piecing together information from all the different platforms, Rabbit slowly looked up. "Vince spent a lot of money on this Sunny Winters girl, but in the end, she didn’t choose to be with him."
Unrequited love that ended in madness.
Ethan Sterling and Wayne didn’t react much to the news. Victor Tucker had chosen to end his life in an extreme way, but the girl, Sunny Winters, was completely innocent.
No matter how much resentment or grievance one feels, it gives them no right to take another’s life.
"Stop thinking about it. It’s useless." Wayne sighed and got up to leave. "I’m going to play some ball."
After the door closed, Rabbit turned back to Ethan Sterling. "Didn’t you go to the Esports Club? Did you sign up?"
Ethan Sterling nodded and went along with Rabbit, starting to talk about the Esports Club.
From then on, they all intentionally or unintentionally avoided topics related to Victor Tucker, and no one brought him up again.
In the afternoon, Cecilia Sterling accompanied Zelda Warner to the hospital for a follow-up appointment.
"The old lady actually didn’t tag along today."
Cecilia Sterling was driving. It was just the two of them today. Usually, the old lady was extremely attentive about these things, insisting on coming along for the entire trip, wishing she could handle everything herself.
"She’s been acting a little strange again recently. I suspect Tony Yates said something to her," Zelda Warner replied faintly.
Cecilia Sterling raised an eyebrow, seeming to have expected something like this, so she wasn’t surprised.
"She’s been trying to get information out of you again?"
Zelda Warner nodded. "Trying to pry, subtly and not so subtly. I figure the reason she didn’t come today is so she can rummage through the house and see if Jeb left anything important for me."
Before Cecilia Sterling could say anything, Zelda Warner continued, "It’s fine, Cecilia. Don’t worry about her. Let her search. There’s nothing for her to find anyway. Even if she turns the place upside down, it’ll be a waste of her time."
That was easy to say, but it was impossible to ignore the situation completely.
"The worry is that finding nothing will just provoke her even more. Even a cornered rabbit will bite."
The car slowly came to a stop. After parking, Cecilia Sterling looked at Zelda Warner. "Anyway, if anything happens, just tell me right away. I’ll handle it."
Zelda Warner smiled faintly and nodded.
Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Cecilia Sterling went with Zelda Warner and knocked on the doctor’s office door. When they saw the doctor on duty inside, both of them froze.
Emeric Grant sat in front of the computer in his white coat, his expression calm and detached, without the slightest ripple of emotion.
Surprised, Cecilia Sterling glanced at the doorplate again. ’Consultation Room 2... That’s the one. But isn’t this Dr. Fletcher’s office?’
"Where’s Dr. Fletcher?"
Cecilia Sterling asked reflexively. The old lady had thought Dr. Grant was too handsome and had insisted on changing doctors for her sister-in-law, ultimately switching to the elderly Dr. Fletcher.
But today, sitting in Dr. Fletcher’s office was none other than Dr. Grant.
"He retired."
Emeric Grant’s words were light. Before Cecilia Sterling could speak, he asked in a calm tone, "Do you need me to find you another doctor?"
Zelda Warner immediately put on an awkward smile and quickly refused, "No, no, that’s not necessary."
It was just a check-up, anyway, and the old lady wasn’t here.
"Then have a seat."
Cecilia Sterling stared at his face, finding it rather novel. It was an excessively rational face with an expression that was just the right amount of sour. Any more and it would have been annoying, but on him, it created an impression of cold, ascetic arrogance.
Emeric Grant’s well-defined fingers tapped a few keys, and he quickly pulled up Zelda Warner’s medical records.
"Have you had any significant discomfort since giving birth?"
Zelda Warner answered truthfully, "I have a lot of dreams and don’t sleep soundly. I get occasional back pain, and my appetite isn’t great either."
"Let’s run some simple tests. I want to check your levels."
A woman’s various bodily indicators can easily become unstable after childbirth, especially if the postpartum confinement period isn’t handled well, which can lead to lifelong complications.
He wrote out a lab order, and Cecilia Sterling accompanied Zelda Warner to queue up at various departments for the tests.
They had to wait a while for the test results.
By the time the two of them returned to the office, it was already past the doctors’ closing time.
But Emeric Grant hadn’t left. When Cecilia and Zelda knocked and entered, he was standing by the office window on the phone. He gestured with his eyes for them to sit down first.
Cecilia Sterling and Zelda Warner subconsciously fell silent and sat down quietly in their chairs.
Emeric Grant held his phone, his expression darkening slightly.
"I already told you, I have a girlfriend."
"I’ve been very busy lately."
"We’ll talk later. My patients are here."
With that, he hung up the phone. Then he walked over and, as if nothing had happened, naturally picked up Zelda Warner’s report and began to read it seriously.
After a moment, he spoke slowly. "It’s not bad. Your levels are recovering steadily. Have you had any major emotional fluctuations recently?"
Zelda Warner shook her head.
"That’s good. Be mindful of keeping your emotions stable. Avoid extreme highs and lows. Get more sunlight and spend time with small animals."
"Small animals?" Cecilia Sterling asked, puzzled. "Like cats and dogs?"
Emeric Grant explained, "Whatever small animals you like, spend more time with them. Fluffy things can have a therapeutic effect and can effectively help prevent postpartum depression."
He added, "But be mindful of hygiene. Generally, a pet dog raised at home is relatively clean. As long as you wash and sanitize your hands before and after, there shouldn’t be any major issues."
Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang again.
He glanced at it and silenced the call. "I’ll prescribe you some medication. Take it on schedule. If you feel any discomfort, come to the hospital right away."
"Thank you, Doctor."
While Emeric Grant was typing up Zelda Warner’s prescription with a serious expression, Cecilia Sterling had a sudden impulse and blurted out, "Dr. Grant, are there any effective ways to relieve severe menstrual cramps?"
Emeric Grant turned his head, looking first at Cecilia Sterling, then at Zelda Warner.
"Which one of you has the pain?"
Cecilia Sterling raised her hand. "Me."
It was true; due to her constitution, her periods were more painful. Estelle, on the other hand, was fine.
Zelda Warner blinked awkwardly. ’Dr. Grant is an obstetrician, not a gynecologist,’ she thought.
But Emeric Grant was someone with a one-hundred-percent professional identity. He was a doctor, so he didn’t find it strange when people asked him about any physical discomfort, because a doctor’s job was to solve these problems.
So, he looked at Cecilia Sterling and asked directly, "Is the flow heavy?"
