Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 392 - 388: One Person Attains the Dao, the Whole Family Ascends to Heaven
"Auntie!"
The moment she got home, Sarah Harris eagerly jumped out of the car, calling out as she marveled at the magnificent, luxurious villa.
Jasmine Sterling heard her voice and came out of the villa to greet them. Seeing Sarah, she couldn’t help but ask, "Dear child, what took you so long to get back?"
Although she was scolding her, her face was all smiles. "Your mom has asked about you several times already. Make sure to video call her in a bit."
Sarah rushed forward and threw her arms around Jasmine Sterling, cooing, "Auntie, I missed you so much."
Jasmine had watched her grow up. In her heart, Sarah and Ronald were like her own children, and she was naturally very fond of them. She patted Sarah’s cheek and observed, "Oh my, you’ve gotten thinner again. Haven’t you been eating properly?"
"I’m fine. We have weight requirements, so we have to manage it ourselves. Otherwise, the interviews are tough to pass," Sarah explained.
Cecilia Sterling and Lily Sterling walked up, carrying Sarah’s things. Jasmine couldn’t help but look at her daughter and ask, "What took you all so long?"
Cecilia glanced at Sarah, who stuck her tongue out sheepishly. She replied casually, "We took her to the mall for a bit, bought a few things, and then picked up Lily on the way."
Seeing that her daughters were indeed carrying many shopping bags, Jasmine didn’t think much of it and just said, "What’s the rush? If you want to shop, you can go again tomorrow. I made dinner a while ago. Hurry inside and eat."
Once inside the villa, Sarah grew even more excited. "Oh my gosh, Auntie, your house is huge! Did my cousin buy all of this?"
"It’s so beautiful, and the decor is so classy. I have to take pictures by the floor-to-ceiling windows to post on my social media later."
Jasmine pulled her toward the restroom. "You can take as many pictures as you want later. Right now, hurry up and wash your hands."
Seeing this, Lily just looked at her sister and gave a helpless smile. "Sarah is still the same as ever. She hasn’t changed a bit."
So loud and boisterous. When they were kids, Sarah and Ethan Sterling had always been the noisiest of the bunch.
At the dinner table, it was clear that Jasmine had put great care into preparing for her niece’s arrival. She had even made a few Lorcain dishes she had recently learned. "Sarah, these are Crispy-Fried Meatballs, and this is Crispy Pork and Sour Soup. They’re local favorites here in Lorcain. The flavors are usually quite strong, so I went easy on the salt. See if you like them."
"I love anything you make, Auntie. Ever since we were little, your cooking has always been my favorite," Sarah said sweetly.
Jasmine beamed at her words and ladled a bowl of soup for each of her two daughters as well.
Cecilia then looked at Sarah and asked, "How have my aunt and uncle been lately? Is business still okay?"
With the college entrance exams coming up, Ronald’s grades would likely only get him into a junior college. Cecilia had been thinking about bringing her aunt’s family to Lorcain to look after them.
Sarah raised her eyebrows and nodded. "They’re doing great. My parents even took out a bank loan to buy a storefront. They said they’ll get the keys in July or August, and then they can open a bigger shop."
"What?" Jasmine was stunned. "They bought a storefront with a loan? How come I didn’t know about this?"
Sarah blinked. ’Did I say the wrong thing?’ she wondered.
Cecilia frowned as well. Property in Veridia wasn’t cheap, especially a commercial storefront. Her aunt might have had some savings over the years, but it definitely wouldn’t have been enough. A bank loan like that must have been for a substantial amount.
"I have to ask them about this later. Why would they borrow from a bank? The interest rates are so high!" Jasmine said anxiously.
Seeing her mother’s distress, Lily gently tried to soothe her. "Mom, you know what our aunt is like, don’t you? She probably didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to trouble you. The money’s already been borrowed; there’s no use in blaming her now!"
"Auntie, my mouth ran away with me. Please don’t ask my mom about it. She’ll scold me for sure," Sarah said, looking pitiful.
Cecilia thought for a moment and sighed. "Forget it, Mom. I’ll talk to our aunt about it later and find out what’s going on. Don’t you stress out about it."
Only after hearing Cecilia say this did Jasmine nod, relieved.
Sarah could only stay in Lorcain for two days; she had a flight back the day after tomorrow in the afternoon. So, Cecilia told her mother to take Sarah out to have some fun tomorrow.
After dinner, Sarah took her phone and started looking for spots all around the villa and yard to take selfies. Yoda became her prop. Having never seen such a luxurious villa in real life, she got a little carried away.
Cecilia went upstairs with her handbag, opened the safe in her room, and placed the private asset documents her brother had given her inside.
"Sis!"
Sarah had followed her up at some point, and her shout made Cecilia jump.
"Goodness, you’re always startling people!" Cecilia said, calmly closing the safe and patting her chest.
Sarah entered Cecilia’s room like Miss Miller entering the Grandview Garden. "Your room is huge! It’s gorgeous."
Entering the dressing room: "So many high-end skincare products..."
The walk-in closet: "So much jewelry and so many bags! Sis, you’re way too rich!"
She clicked her tongue in amazement as she looked around. Cecilia just gave a helpless smile and said, "If you like anything, have your aunt take you to buy it tomorrow. As long as you can carry it with your own two hands, you can buy as much as you want."
"For real?" Sarah looked at her cousin, delighted.
Cecilia leaned against the closet doorframe with her arms crossed and nodded lightly. "Of course it’s real. If you don’t mind that my things are used, you can pick something from here, too."
"I couldn’t possibly take your favorites. I want new ones," Sarah said, sidling up to her cousin. "You’re the best to us, Sis. You made it big, and now the whole family’s taking off with you."
Cecilia glanced sideways at her cousin and snorted softly. "Don’t think what happened today is over and done with. Let me tell you something, Sarah. Remember this: whatever you want in the future, you can ask me for it. I’ll buy you anything. But don’t you dare get any ideas about men!"
"I’m not saying you should paint them all with the same brush, but most men who spend money on you have an ulterior motive. Understand?"
Her cousin was still immature. Cecilia could understand and accept her love for these vain things, but she couldn’t let that vanity lead her astray.
So, she would be the one to satisfy those desires. To her, money was the least of her concerns.
Hearing this, Sarah nodded seriously. "I’ll remember that, Sis. I’ll definitely feel much more secure spending your money, hehe."
Seeing that she was being reasonably obedient, Cecilia couldn’t help but pinch her cheek, satisfied.
But then Sarah started wheedling again. "Sis, I heard the bars in Lorcain are a lot of fun. Can you take me?"
Go to a bar?
It wasn’t exactly a forbidden activity.
Thinking about how her brother had just handed over his bar to her today, Cecilia nodded. "Sure. The most important thing is to have fun while you’re here. If you want to go, I’ll take you!"
