Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 359 - 357: Fitzwilliam Sanders
Cecilia’s eyes lit up with surprise, and she hurried forward to greet her. "What are you doing here?"
She knew Lily had already wrapped up filming and come back. She’d been planning to go home and see her over the weekend, but she never expected to run into her in such a chaotic situation.
"Connie asked me to come to the company. She gave me a new script."
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to Blair, who was surrounded by a crowd not far away. She asked in surprise, "Is that your friend?"
Cecilia instinctively glanced back as well, then nodded lightly. "My best friend. And my roommate."
Lily had only ever met Estelle Goodman. Seeing Blair for the first time under these circumstances, she was completely stunned. Her bright eyes shone with admiration. "She’s so incredible! I saw the whole thing."
Beside her, Hannah Warner nodded furiously. Young girls were total fans of the cool, badass type like Blair, especially one who had real skills.
The assailant was quickly taken away in a police car. The police briefly asked Blair about what had just happened. The crowd of onlookers was especially excited, tripping over themselves to praise Blair’s heroic performance, saying she had stepped up in the face of violence, her methods were clean and decisive, she subdued the attacker single-handedly, and so on...
At first, Blair hadn’t thought much of it herself. ’If I made a move, it’s because I was completely confident I could handle it.’ But now, with everyone chiming in with praise, she was starting to feel a little embarrassed.
In the end, the police took down Blair’s contact information, telling her that her actions counted as acting heroically for a just cause and that the department would contact her later if a commendation was to be awarded.
However, the priority right now was the assault case itself. Someone had been stabbed multiple times in the incident. Although no one had died, for something like this to happen Downtown was already considered a serious event.
Because of this, the paperwork for the commendation would likely take a while.
Blair gave the police her contact information out of courtesy, but she personally didn’t really care about things like honors or commendations.
Only after the police car left did the crowd’s excitement begin to wane. The incident had started suddenly and ended just as unexpectedly. The entire event was not only captured on the security cameras of the surrounding shops but was also recorded by many people on their phones.
Cecilia and the others returned to the coffee shop and sat down. Estelle Goodman, still shaken, patted her chest. "I’ve only ever seen things like this online. I can’t believe I saw it in person today. It was terrifying! Do you guys think that man had some kind of mental problem?"
"Hard to say," Blair said, as calm as ever. "Every year, there are cases of mentally unstable people hurting others indiscriminately. But there are also mentally sound people who are just out for revenge against society, usually because they’re unhappy with their lives or have been emotionally triggered."
"Then he was probably emotionally triggered. Didn’t you notice all his targets were women?"
Seeing Estelle’s serious expression as she pondered the assailant’s motive, Cecilia couldn’t help but smile. "We’ll find out when the police finish their investigation. This street is mostly full of girls anyway. And there’s a natural, vast difference in strength and speed between men and women. It’s perfectly normal for them to be chosen as targets in this kind of incident."
The others all nodded, thinking Cecilia had a point.
Cecilia then remembered to introduce Lily and Hannah Warner to Blair. Blair had always known that Cecilia had a younger sister, but to meet her for the first time in a situation like this... the drama was certainly maxed out.
Just then, a man wearing casual trousers and a white shirt walked out of the café. He wasn’t exceptionally tall, around five-foot-nine, with the sleeves of his shirt casually rolled up to his elbows. He was fair-skinned and handsome, with an overall clean and refreshing look.
Fitzwilliam Sanders was holding a menu from the coffee shop. He walked straight to Cecilia’s table and stopped, causing the girls to look up curiously.
A faint smile touched his lips. Very politely, he placed the menu he was holding in front of Blair with both hands. "I’m the owner of this shop. What would you ladies like to drink? It’s on me!"
His sudden appearance and direct words made the group exchange subconscious glances, seemingly unable to react right away.
Seeing this, Fitzwilliam Sanders quickly explained, "Sorry, that was a bit forward of me. Please, don’t get the wrong idea. I saw this young lady step up and act heroically just now, and I’m genuinely impressed. It’s just a few cups of coffee, so please don’t feel any pressure. It would be my honor!"
As he spoke, his eyes didn’t wander or dart between them. He looked directly into Blair’s eyes the entire time, his attitude utterly sincere.
"Thank you, you’re too kind."
"Then don’t be so polite with me, miss." As Fitzwilliam Sanders spoke, he reached out and opened the menu for them, proactively introducing the shop’s signature coffees. He was proactive but not pushy, guiding them naturally and effortlessly avoiding the potential awkwardness of them feeling embarrassed.
It was clear this man had a very high EQ, and that he was thoughtful and meticulous in both his words and actions.
The group went along with it and ordered their coffees. Fitzwilliam Sanders didn’t linger; after confirming their order, he went straight back inside.
Estelle Goodman watched his retreating back and blinked, remarking sincerely, "That owner is pretty handsome!"
It was mainly that his personality was a huge bonus on top of his already good looks, which made him seem that much more attractive!
Just as their coffees were brought to the table, Estelle Goodman discovered that someone had already posted a video of the incident on a short-video platform. The number of views was staggering. The post time showed it was uploaded ten minutes ago, but the likes had already surpassed one hundred thousand, with over five thousand comments.
"Oh my god, it’s already blowing up online."
Estelle said as she opened the comment section. The top-liked comments were, without a doubt, praising Blair.
"Holy shit, this girl is insane!"
"See! When a girl’s this cool, guys don’t even stand a chance!"
"Those two moves with the ashtray... you can tell she’s trained. This girl is definitely a pro!"
"Isn’t that our Blair? @Blair’s18MartialArts, that’s her official account!"
"She’s definitely trained! I’ve seen her livestreams, she’s super cool when she does sword forms!"
The power of netizens is often beyond imagination. The video had just been posted, and fans had already recognized Blair. Estelle looked at Blair excitedly. "Honey, quick, check your account! Are you gaining followers like crazy?"
Blair was still a bit dazed, as if she’d never imagined she would get any special attention because of this.
But after hearing what Estelle said, she took out her phone. Before she could even open the app, WhatsApp notifications began to bombard her like a string of firecrackers.
