Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 358 - 356: Queen Blair
A commotion broke out in the crowd at the sight of a blood-covered woman, and a moment later, another person, also drenched in blood, was seen running toward them.
"Holy shit, what’s going on up there?"
"Let’s get out of here! It’s not a terrorist attack, is it...?"
"I’ll call the police, you call for an ambulance!"
Although everyone was frightened, some remained rational, quickly pulling out their phones to call for help.
Just then, a short, dark, and skinny man appeared in the distance, swaying as he walked.
He was brandishing a kitchen cleaver, his body and face spattered with blood. It was as if the blood had seeped into his eyes, making them appear crimson from a distance.
The people injured earlier had clearly been hurt by this man. Seeing his unsteady, aimless gait, Blair frowned warily. "Looks like he’s on a rampage, attacking people at random!"
"What?" Estelle gasped, instinctively leaning closer to Blair. "So he’s just attacking people for no reason?"
Blair nodded. After appearing, the man hadn’t pursued those he’d already injured. Instead, he went after whoever was closest. If they ran, he would simply change direction and pick a new target.
It was obvious he had no specific goal.
Now that he was covered in blood, everyone was on their guard. The people who’d just been hurt must have been his first, randomly chosen victims.
All the victims were women, and they had already taken refuge inside a nearby coffee shop.
The knife-wielding attacker then looked over from a distance toward Cecilia Sterling and her friends. Seemingly noticing it was the most crowded spot, he suddenly raised his cleaver and charged in their direction.
A crowd of onlookers, who had thought they were at a safe distance while filming the commotion on their phones, turned pale with fright. "Fuck, he’s coming this way! Run!" someone shrieked.
The surrounding crowd scattered in an instant. Estelle grabbed Cecilia and Blair’s hands. "Come on!"
But Blair pulled her hand free and said to Cecilia, "You take Estelle and hide. We can’t let this guy keep rampaging on the street before the police get here, or someone could die!"
This was a pedestrian street lined with coffee shops, so there were many young women around. If he were left unchecked, something terrible was bound to happen.
Cecilia Sterling seemed to know that Blair would never stand by and do nothing in a situation like this. She nodded immediately, pulling Estelle toward the entrance of a coffee shop.
Estelle looked at Blair, her face etched with worry. "Honey, be careful! He has a knife!"
Blair casually snatched a glass ashtray from a table under a parasol. Her face was expressionless as she advanced straight toward the blood-soaked man.
Her steps were even more resolute and fearless than his, her face showing not a single trace of fear.
This stretch of the pedestrian street was now completely deserted. Everyone had taken cover in safe places, peeking out nervously. All they could see was a tall young woman, armed with an ashtray, charging toward the vicious assailant.
Everyone who saw it gasped in unison.
"What is that woman doing?"
"She’s not trying to take on that psycho by herself, is she?"
"That psycho has a knife, and it’s clearly a random attack! She’s going to get herself killed!"
One bystander couldn’t bear to watch and yelled out, "Young lady, don’t be a fool! Run!"
But Blair was already less than ten meters away, and to the attacker, her fearless demeanor was a blatant provocation.
He raised the cleaver high and charged at Blair, swinging it wildly.
Watching from a distance, Estelle Goodman clapped a hand over her mouth, terrified she would scream.
Although Cecilia Sterling trusted Blair’s abilities—after all, Blair could handle four or five grown men empty-handed—she couldn’t help but feel a knot of anxiety. Nothing was ever certain.
The attacker brought the cleaver down in a swift chop, aiming right for Blair’s beautiful face. But to Blair, the attack seemed to unfold in slow motion. She dodged it easily with a slight turn of her body.
But he had put too much force into the swing; inertia sent him stumbling forward. As he passed Blair, she brought the ashtray around in a backhanded strike, smashing it squarely against the bridge of his nose.
"Nghh—"
The man let out a muffled grunt. The intense pain from his broken nose instantly drained most of his strength, and his body went limp as he started to collapse.
But Blair showed no mercy. She swung the ashtray again, this time in an upward arc, smashing it into the man’s chin. The blow sent him reeling; he stumbled back two steps before falling flat on his back. The cleaver clattered from his hand onto the pavement.
Blair immediately kicked the cleaver far away. Seeing this, a courageous young man rushed forward to retrieve it, worried the attacker might get up and grab it again.
In reality, the man was in no condition to get up. After Blair’s two devastating blows, he had lost all ability to fight back. His head felt like it was going to explode, his vision was a crimson blur, and he was seeing stars.
With Blair’s experience, no move was wasted. She knew exactly how to quickly incapacitate an opponent and prevent them from causing any more harm.
When the man remained on the ground, unable to get up, the onlookers realized he had been taken down by the beautiful woman and her ashtray. One by one, they began to emerge from the coffee shops they had hidden in.
Soon, applause erupted. Many people had been recording the entire incident on their phones. Blair stood like a fearless, powerful warrior. She had stepped up at a critical moment during a violent public attack and single-handedly prevented the situation from getting worse.
"That woman is a badass!"
"So cool! You’re amazing, lady!"
The applause was unending, punctuated by people’s cheers.
Bathed in sunlight, the short-haired Blair turned slightly and gave a small nod to the cheering crowd. The seemingly casual gesture was, in the eyes of the onlookers, almost impossibly cool.
Like a queen.
Soon, the wail of sirens filled the air. It was rare for vehicles to enter the pedestrian street, but this time, it was a police car.
"Are you okay?"
Cecilia Sterling asked with concern as she reached Blair’s side.
Blair shook her head nonchalantly. The onlookers had been scared to death just watching, but she, the one who had been in the thick of it, showed no signs of lingering fear whatsoever.
Estelle patted her chest, catching her breath. "How could we run into something like this?" she said with a note of exasperation. "Today is just the worst. Not a single good thing has happened."
The words were barely out of her mouth when a cheerful, excited voice called out from behind them, "Sis!"
The group instinctively turned at the sound, only to see Lily Sterling, her face beaming with an excited smile as she waved at her sister.
"Lily?"
