The Devourer King's death rattle didn't just echo; it shattered the architecture of the Final Dungeon. Floating continents sheared in half, dropping ancient towers into the void as starlight poured through the tearing fabric of reality. The battlefield was a hurricane of falling worlds.

Mei drove her spear into the cracking stone and set her stance.

Behind her, Team Blaze rallied. Captain Shane Williams hefted his massive war shield; Ember adjusted her tactical gauntlets as raw, golden fire flared over her knuckles; Joshua readied his heavy broadsword; Adrian Cross stepped into formation, unslinging his twin storm-blades as silver lightning ignited down the metal, illuminating his sharp, fearless smirk. By every law of this realm, they should have been corpses. Yet here they stood.

The Devourer charged.

Shane moved first, his heavy shield slamming into a sprawling limb and pinning it to the earth. Ember blurred into the gap, her fists blasting a wave of incinerating fire straight into an exposed seam. Before the beast could thrash, Joshua's blade swung down, locking its shoulder movement. Adrian darted into the far flank with lightning speed, driving his twin storm-blades into the far joint and discharging a blinding electrical pulse that forced the colossus to rotate into the strike.

Mei didn't look at the creature. She read the choreography.

Turn to Adrian—left flank opens. Ember strikes—armor shifts. Cut the seam—the core exposes.

She waited until the rhythm hit its peak, then burst forward.

As the creature reeled, Mei vaulted into the opening Ember and Adrian had created, driving her spear upward to punch through plate and bone straight into the central anchor. A violent twist of her wrist shattered the core.

The Devourer collapsed inward, its immense form dissolving into black crystal and extinguished starlight.

Silence held for a single breath—then the floor beneath them cracked wide.

Shadow surged upward. The stone turned transparent, revealing an endless, hungry ocean of darkness below.

"What did we just kill?" Ember rasped, her gauntlets still humming with residual heat.

"The cage," Mei said.

The floor disintegrated.

A shadowy tendril shot from the void, snagging Adrian's leg and dragging him over the edge. Joshua reached out, catching his plate armor, while Shane slammed his shield down, severing the coil. But the stone gave way entirely, sending Team Blaze into freefall.

Mei plunged her spear into a passing, floating slab. Shane grabbed her arm, Ember grabbed Shane, Joshua grabbed Ember, and Adrian locked onto Joshua—a human chain suspended over eternity.

Then, from the shattered crystal of the Devourer's corpse, a figure rose.

Slender, faceless, and wrapped in absolute dark, it bore a crown of inverted stars that warped the space around it.

"Please tell me that's not another boss," Adrian muttered, dangling from the chain as static sparks danced across his knuckles.

Mei hauled herself onto the rock. "Not a boss. A war."

The Entity struck, dark tendrils spearing through the air. Mei kicked off the ledge, dropping straight into the abyss.

"Mei!"

Her spear ignited, siphoning the last celestial energy from the dying dungeon. The Entity expanded, its torso opening like a cavernous maw. Mei twisted mid-air, dodged two strikes, planted her foot on a third tendril, and launched herself into the heart of the darkness.

The spear drove deep, striking the black tether connecting the Entity to the void.

"You cannot destroy what you carry," a voice echoed directly into her mind, projecting the ghost of her old mentor: None of this is your fault.

The Entity wasn't just fighting; it was feeding on her grief, demanding that every loss she bore serve as proof that destruction was inevitable.

Mei stared into the faceless void. "I carry them," she said, her grip tightening until her knuckles turned white. "But you don't get to decide what they mean."

Golden light flared from her core, racing down the shaft. The tether shattered.

"You are nothing without your dead!" the Entity hissed, unraveling into fragments of black light.

"No," Mei whispered, pulling the spear free as the darkness dissolved into nothingness. "I'm what came after."

The void sealed shut.

The Final Dungeon folded in on itself, dumping Team Blaze onto hard, unbroken ground. Mei landed in a skid, coming up on one knee as the crimson sky broke apart.

Above them, violet light flooded the atmosphere. A single star pierced the haze, then another, until thousands of constellations burned across the sky.

Shane stared upward in silence. Ember slowly let her fire fade, pushing back a stray strand of auburn hair. Joshua let out a breathless laugh. Beside him, Adrian sheared his twin storm-blades back into their holsters, wiping a stray bolt of silver static from his sleeve as an exhausted grin broke across his face. "You really couldn't skip the dramatic finale, could you?"

Mei pulled her spear from the dirt.

For years, she had believed survival was merely a desperate sprint away from death. Standing under the newly born sky, she finally understood the truth: survival was the courage to choose what came next. The stars were no longer graves. They were tomorrows.

She turned back to the living, and walked toward them.
