After examining Gong Shiya’s physical condition, Shen Nian prepared to begin the treatment. Although Gong Shiya was younger than Chu Zhengwei, her health was in an even worse state.

This meant Shen Nian would inevitably need more time for the treatment than she had for Chu Zhengwei.

But as she looked at Gong Shiya lying on the bed, Shen Nian thought to herself, ’No matter how long it takes, it will be worth it.’

After taking out her silver needles, Shen Nian didn’t begin right away. Instead, she looked toward Gu Yaohui.

"Uncle Gu..."

Shen Nian had intended to let Gu Yaohui know that the treatment was about to begin, but before she could finish speaking, Gu Yaohui interrupted her.

"I get it, I get it."

’Huh? Get what? I haven’t said anything yet.’ Shen Nian looked at Gu Yaohui in confusion. But after his "I get it," Gu Yaohui led Gu Hengzhi and Gu Zifan back into the adjoining lounge, leaving the entire bedroom to Shen Nian and Gong Shiya.

...

Gu Yaohui’s actions surprised Shen Nian, but she understood. And once she did, she found the situation rather exasperating.

’I hadn’t actually intended for the Gu Family to leave! But since they’re already out, I can’t very well call them back in now.’

’Besides, with them gone, it’s actually more suitable for me to use my Spiritual Power for the treatment. Even if I use a bit too much at once, I don’t have to worry about anyone being shocked by what they see.’

With that thought, Shen Nian delayed no further and began the dual treatment, combining her Spiritual Power with acupuncture.

After her recent cultivation, the amount of Spiritual Power Shen Nian could wield was far greater than before. A swell of pride filled her as she watched Gong Shiya’s condition gradually improve under her treatment.

Seeing that Gong Shiya’s complexion already had much more color than before, Shen Nian smiled in satisfaction and began to remove the silver needles.

But not even Shen Nian had expected that Gong Shiya, who had been asleep the entire time since she’d arrived, would suddenly wake up, suddenly open her eyes.

"Aunt Gu, I..."

Shen Nian was about to say she would call Uncle Gu in, but before she could, Gong Shiya reached out and clasped the hand Shen Nian had just extended.

"Ke’er, you’re Ke’er! You’re back! You’ve finally come back! My Ke’er!"

As she spoke, Gong Shiya pulled Shen Nian into a tight hug.

Shen Nian was so surprised that, caught completely off guard, she was pulled into a full embrace by Gong Shiya.

Although Gong Shiya’s embrace was warm, belying her frail body, Shen Nian couldn’t help but feel a little awkward.

Because, judging by Gong Shiya’s expression, it was obvious she had mistaken her for someone else!

And what’s more, she had mistaken Shen Nian for her own daughter, Gu Ke’er!

"What’s wrong? What happened?"

Gu Yaohui and the others, who had been waiting anxiously but patiently in the lounge, rushed in as soon as they heard the voices from the bedroom.

Seeing the two of them locked in an emotional embrace in the bedroom, even Gu Yaohui was stunned for a moment. He didn’t stay dazed for long, though, and quickly walked to the bedside.

"Shiya, Shiya."

Hearing Gu Yaohui’s voice, Gong Shiya finally shifted her gaze from Shen Nian to him.

"Yaohui, it’s Ke’er! Our Ke’er is back! It’s Ke’er!"

"Yes, yes, Shiya. Don’t get too excited."
