Gu Hengzhi looked at Shen Nian as he spoke, his tone much more relaxed than it had been with Chu Yunze moments before. His expression, too, softened as he gazed at her.

“That’s good. Fanfan is very cute, and I hope he can always be happy.”

Shen Nian said with a nod, looking at Gu Hengzhi.

“Fanfan? Xiao Nian, what are you and Brother Gu talking about?”

Chu Lingxiu frowned at Shen Nian. While she had heard Gu Hengzhi’s name before, this was her first time actually meeting him.

As for any previous history between Gu Hengzhi and Shen Nian, Chu Lingxiu knew nothing about it, so she was utterly bewildered to hear their conversation.

‘Clearly, Shen Nian hadn’t really interacted with anyone else from B City before coming to our home. So how did she suddenly seem so familiar with this member of the Gu family?’

“Fanfan is Brother Gu’s younger brother. I’ve met him a few times; he’s adorable. You can meet him too, next time there’s a chance!”

Shen Nian smiled at Chu Lingxiu and explained. She reasoned that since Gu Hengzhi had brought up Gu Zifan himself, he probably didn’t mind them knowing about him.

However, knowing *of* Gu Zifan was one thing; Shen Nian had no intention of revealing all the details about him.

“Oh, so that’s how it is. If there’s a chance next time, I’d like to meet him too.”

Chu Lingxiu nodded and didn’t press for more details. ‘If Shen Nian said Gu Zifan was cute, then he must be really cute!’

She was the youngest in her family, with no younger siblings. Truthfully, Chu Lingxiu had always hoped to have a little brother or sister around.

So, hearing Shen Nian describe how adorable Gu Zifan was, she felt a genuine sense of anticipation.

“Fanfan has been saying he wants to see you. I wonder when you might be free, Miss Shen?”

“Please, Brother Gu, just call me Xiao Nian. I’m at B University now, and I go to Lu Cheng’s on the weekends. But if you’d like, you can arrange for Fanfan to come find me on a weekday when I don’t have class.”

Shen Nian had to focus on her studies during the week, and her weekends were reserved for Lu Cheng. That only left the free time she had between classes on weekdays.

Fortunately, university was much more flexible than high school, giving her far more time to manage as she pleased.

“Then, we’ll be in touch.”

“Okay.”

Seeing Shen Nian and Gu Hengzhi chatting so happily, Chu Yunze couldn’t help but take a couple of steps back to stand beside Lu Cheng.

“Hey, buddy. Seeing Xiao Nian getting along so well with this guy… you’re not feeling a little jealous?”

Chu Yunze knew full well how possessive Lu Cheng was over Shen Nian. If any random guy on the street so much as glanced at her for a second too long, his buddy was liable to flip out.

So why now, after watching Gu Hengzhi and Shen Nian talk so cordially for so long, was he not reacting at all?

‘Shouldn’t he be marching right over to put a stop to it? Shouldn’t he forbid them from having any private contact at all?’

“Jealous of what?”

Lu Cheng didn’t look away, his gaze still fixed on Shen Nian.

“What else could you be jealous of? It’s him, obviously! You’re the king of jealousy. How come you’re picking now of all times not to be? This isn’t normal!”

Chu Yunze stared hard at Lu Cheng. It was no wonder he was surprised; the reactions of both Shen Nian and Lu Cheng were completely outside his expectations.
