Reborn in the 90s with a Space: Winning Back My Husband
Chapter 564: Chu Family Banquet (6)
As he spoke, Chu Zhengwei introduced Shen Nian and her companions to Gu Hengzhi, his attitude completely different from how he had treated Qin Hao earlier.
Gu Hengzhi looked at Shen Nian and her companions and nodded. “A pleasure to meet you all,” he said.
“Young Master Gu, I’ve heard so much about you. We never had the chance to get acquainted before, but it seems we finally do now!”
Chu Yunze said with a smile as he looked at Gu Hengzhi. It wasn’t just because Mr. Chu and Chu Deming had told them to get to know Gu Hengzhi better—he was personally quite interested in him as well.
He hadn’t had the chance to meet him before. Now that such a perfect opportunity had presented itself, he certainly wasn’t going to miss it.
“I’ve long heard of Young Master Chu’s reputation as well. And of course, Brother Lu, I’ve wanted to make your acquaintance for some time.”
“Haha, I can see you young people will have more to talk about with each other. No need to keep this old man company!”
Chu Zhengwei was delighted to see the younger generation of his family getting along so well with Gu Hengzhi. With a grand wave of his hand, he sent the young people off to mingle freely, noting that the elders would handle the main banquet affairs.
And so, the group of five walked off to one side, leaving Qin Hao in their wake. He watched them go, his eyes full of some unspoken meaning.
“I think we’re about the same age, so let’s drop the ‘Young Master’ formalities. How about I call you Hengzhi?”
Chu Yunze’s ability to quickly warm up to people was on full display in front of Gu Hengzhi.
“Of course.”
“Great. In that case, just call me Yunze.”
“Yunze.”
After addressing him as Yunze, Gu Hengzhi’s gaze shifted to Lu Cheng.
He was, in fact, more interested in Lu Cheng than in Chu Yunze.
Lu Cheng had been watching Gu Hengzhi as well. When he saw Gu Hengzhi look his way, he returned the nod.
“Just call me Lu Cheng,” he said. “And thank you for what you did for Xiao Nian last time.”
Lu Cheng gave Gu Hengzhi a slight bow as he spoke. He was genuinely grateful to him. Whether his help had been necessary or not, the fact was that he had helped Shen Nian.
Besides, Lu Cheng could sense that Gu Hengzhi bore them no ill will.
“You’re being too polite. I just happened to be there. I wouldn’t have ignored the situation either way.”
“Oh, right! If you hadn’t brought it up, I would’ve almost forgotten! Hengzhi helped Shen Nian before!”
Chu Yunze added, clapping his hands together. This shared connection instantly brought the group closer.
Ordinarily, Gu Hengzhi helping Shen Nian wouldn’t have been a major affair. However, because the antagonists in the situation were from the Qin family, Lu Cheng and Shen Nian had made sure not to hide the details from the Chu Family.
After all, it was better to be on guard against the ever-ambitious Qin Family.
“Miss Shen, thank you for what you did last time.”
After finishing his conversation with Lu Cheng, Gu Hengzhi turned his gaze to Shen Nian.
Ever since the incident, Gu Hengzhi had found himself thinking of Shen Nian from time to time. This was especially true after his recent investigation into her; the mere thought of Shen Nian was enough to stir his emotions.
But now, seeing Shen Nian standing right in front of him, he felt a sense of calm that had previously eluded him.
It was a feeling that even he couldn’t quite comprehend.
“You’re too kind, Brother Gu. I really didn’t do anything special.”
Shen Nian knew, of course, that Gu Hengzhi was thanking her because of Gu Zifan.
“What you did for us, Miss Shen, was a great help to the Gu family. Fanfan’s condition has improved a great deal recently as well.”
