The three men edged closer to Shen Nian as they spoke. It never crossed their minds that approaching her might put them in danger.

"Why should I run?"

"Tsk, tsk. Is this girl an idiot or something?"

"You’re a pretty little thing. If you’re willing to take good care of us three brothers, we might just be able to let you go."

The leader of the group eyed Shen Nian, stroking his chin as he spoke with a suggestive smirk.

"What did you just say?"

Shen Nian’s expression instantly darkened the moment she heard the man’s words.

’Shen Nian had considered using these three for some practice, but she hadn’t planned on making a move so soon. What he’d just said, however, was utterly sickening.’

’Just imagine, if a truly defenseless girl—one with no strength to speak of—had run into these three, what would her fate have been?’

As he spoke, the man reached a hand toward Shen Nian. He was completely oblivious to the fury in her voice when she’d spoken.

However, before his hand could touch Shen Nian, a powerful grip stopped it in its tracks.

Seeing someone suddenly appear behind Shen Nian, the man roared without a second thought.

"Who the hell are you? How dare you meddle in our business!"

But his words died in his throat as he looked up and saw who had arrived. The arrogant sneer on his face instantly twisted into one of pure terror.

’Of course, Shen Nian wasn’t about to let him touch her. She had been planning to deal with him herself, but she never expected someone to beat her to it.’

Seeing the sheer terror that had suddenly appeared on the thug’s face made Shen Nian all the more curious about the newcomer.

Turning around, Shen Nian saw a tall, slender man with a cold, stern expression standing beside her. She had no idea when he’d arrived.

And what’s more, it was someone she knew.

"Mr. Gu."

Shen Nian smiled and nodded at Gu Hengzhi. She truly hadn’t expected her sudden rescuer to be Gu Hengzhi, the man she had met in her residential community last time.

Hearing Shen Nian call him "Mr. Gu," the man whose wrist was still in Gu Hengzhi’s grip turned several shades paler.
